Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

Hush sucks

This.

Hush was the most overhyped DC story of all time. NOTHING happened in it other than Batman and Catwoman hooking up and breaking up (again) and Harvey Dent getting his face fixed and getting his lawyer's license back (huh??) only to later go crazy again and re-scar himself. It was essentially a murder mystery with ONE suspect. Terrible story.

Why is everyone casting Oscar Isaac for everyone? I even saw a few people on here saying him for Mister Fantastic.

So basically a longer verison of Gotham by Gaslight.

Haha yeah, but I liked Gotham By Gaslight. The mystery is pathetic but I still think it's a better story overall than Hush and I love the Mignola artwork. I liked the sequel too, but mostly for the artwork, as the villain was stupid and the story was meh.

Said it before, and I’ll say it again having watched a few episodes of Jack Ryan... this guy, this guy right here:

No but I’ve liked him for Superman for a while.

He could pull off Barry Allen (Ezra was miscast), Hal Jordan, Shazam, or Superman but not Batman IMO

Why not, in your opinion? The guy clearly has a good acting range, is physically the right size, and while he doesn’t have matinee idol looks, he’s not exactly an ugly chap. About the right age for an experienced Batman, and about the right stage in his career for the part.

Agreed, but no. I don't see John as Batman.

I find John attractive, but in a goofy way. Which works just fine for an everyman character like Jack Ryan. He's no Batman, though, imo. That is just not the face of a badass brooding billionaire playboy.

I’ll only accept Oliver if Elio is Robin too.

Yeah, Krasinski is no Bruce. If anything, his current physical shape and body of work just shows me that he could've made it work as Captain America, though I'd hardly consider getting Evans to be the raw end of the deal.

John wouldn’t be a bad Superman.

Krasinski strikes me more of a Hal Jordan type.

In any case, it's super cute that people on Reddit still think there's a chance Affleck comes back. The denial is very real.

It's crazy enough for people to think his lapse in sobriety is what might be jeopardizing his future in the role. For anyone to feel any degree of confidence that the role is 100% still his, they'd have to be deranged.

I mean there are people out there that think there is a genuine possibility (however unlikely) that they'll either delay filming to give Affleck time to sort his personal affairs, or that he'll complete rehab/turning his life around in just a few short months so he can assume the role right on schedule. Because this entire project is predicated on one man.

And you still have people hanging onto that whole "one film left on his contract" thing, not realizing that WB could very easily decide to not exercise the option.

It's nuts.

Out of all the cast, he's the one who needed this role the least, and he's the one who has probably been burned the most. Neither movie that he was the star of got good critical response, nor did they make the kind of money they should have. He dropped out as director of the solo OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AGO, and since then the language over what role he'll play in the production has gotten more and more vague, rather than a simple, straightforward, concrete "Yes, Ben Affleck will star in this film." And all that is without even mentioning the constant flood of rumors over there being a younger Batman at the center of the film.

The writing on the wall is crystal clear.

Right. Look, if he were sticking around, they'd know by now. And if they knew by now, they'd have made an announcement to put all this uncertainty to rest. Reeves is "still talking" to Affleck, yet he's having meetings with other actors?

Yeah, I ain't buyin'.
