Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 4

Hammer could play business Bruce, perhaps even playboy/arrogant Bruce, in the cowl... just fine.... but, he just isn't likeable... to me. If the story was amazing and the supporting cast, then, sure... but yeah, brooding he can do...but not much else... i think Batfleck just bought that charm to his Bruce, you wanted to root for him in BvS even tho... you shouldn't.

I’m kind of warming to ATJ.

Still feel like Armie is the best choice in the sense that he would solve a lot of problems if they decide to cross over again.

MFR said as much on his podcast, like you can imagine Armie’s Batman standing next to Gal, Jason, (maybe Henry too) and not feel like it is so far removed from what came before. Like it wouldn’t be so jarring, whereas Logan Lerman would look ridiculous.

I think he’s a really solid talent. He’s been endorsed by David Fincher, George Miller (for Batman!) and has acted in some prestige projects. Is he the best actor on the list? Probably not, but I think I’m terms of ticking boxes of what the prototypical Batman actor should be, he basically hits all of them.

ATJ would be my first choice from that list, but I’m honestly not sure he could actually pull it off. His voice is just...all sorts of wrong for the part.
The voice is such an easy thing to mask and alter, not even considering post-processing methods. It's not hard to lower your tone, or mimic a whisper-like cadence.

Jackie Earle Haley is one squeaky-sounding guy, but you'd never guess it if all you saw of him was in Watchmen.

Good point. Makes me feel better about O'Brien

He sounds like Tom Holland. And that isn’t appropriate for Bruce Wayne or Batman.

I’m not denying that there are of ways of altering his voice; I just don’t think it’ll be easy to hide how naturally high-pitched it is without heavy modulation (which would sound silly all by itself).

But it’s not impossible and I’d be cautiously optimistic about it if he were cast.

Based on these names, and Matt Reeeves quote about the story and how it’s about Batman going through a change from start to finish, I’m guessing the story is about a young Batman who maybe is 2-3 years in, thinks he knows everything, maybe even a little cocky, but then whatever this case/villain just challenges everything he thinks he knows and causes him to “grow up” by the end, changing his perspective on what it means to be Batman.

So you mean the same arc as The Dark Knight?

Alright so I already posted my typical fanboy casting with Luke Evans. But now I'm seriously thinking outside the typical fan wank choices putting on my casting director cap. I want an actor who is tall, young enough to pull off both young Bruce and Present Bruce. Someone maybe in their early thirties. A fresh face who hasn't worn a comic book costume yet is recognizable. Someone who, especially in recent times. has proven to throw themselves into their role and almost become unrecognizable. Someone who has been in the indie spotlight and out of the big Hollywood spotlight for a while and to return in a new big role to make a name for themselves again in the wider audience. Someone, like Keaton, can give a cold stare, with just enough crazy in their eyes that they are just enough close enough from becoming a villain themselves yet can play the rich playboy billionaire type. I am suggesting, and this is not a joke, Robert Pattinson.

Before anyone makes the obvious jokes, check this out This guy has reinvented himself into a serious actor:
Also that jawline and head shape is perfect for the cowl fight me

Right there with you. I think Pattinson is actually a really good choice all things considered

Pattinson is really the obvious choice for me. He's a great actor, he's tall, he's young, but he's not too young. He would be perfect.

The drama-thirsty part of me wants a really controversial choice that'll make the Internet folk claw their eyes out.

*crosses fingers for Jay Baruchel*

From the list posted ago, i wouldn't mind Taron Egerton even when everyone here hates him tbh, and perhaps Hoult, idc about the rest, meh

With most of these younger people, imagining them in the cowl it just doesn’t look right to me. Like a kid playing dress up.

Now i want Taron to get the role and see this forum and twitter burn and the meltdowns

Favorites from that list:

- Aaron Taylor-Johnson

- Jack O'Connell

- Nicholas Hoult

- Dylan O'Brien

Taylor-Johnson and Hoult are the only ones I'm okay with on that list.

Is everyone forgetting that Taylor-Johnson is wooden as a tree? I'll take the O's or Hoult over him.

Watch Nocturnal Animals. Gave one of the most chilling performances of this decade
