People can't see past Potter/Twilight but he's a very good actor, getting better year by year. He would deserve the chance. However, I don't think he'd want the intense spotlight the role would put on him.

Any actor that claims to respect the medium would not waste the chance to work with the director that made talking chimps emotional.

Never thought I'd say this but Robert Pattinson or bust.
Not gonna lie, I really think he could pull it off really well. and this is coming from someone who hated even seeing his face when he was in high school because of twilight. Pattinson has grown into quite a great actor since then.

Which movies would you guys recommend me to watch with Pattinson?
Damsel
Cosmopolis
Good Time (My personal favorite on the list. He's fantastic in this.)
The Lost City of Z

Also, High Life coming out this year looks really good.

The Rover is another great one. It's basically Mad Max: Indie edition

Some CBM sites are quoting that WB want a 'familiar face' for the main role and talk of an 'unknown or little known actor' is wide of what studio would go for. It's Hammer-time me thinks.

I hope WB doesn't strong arm Reeves into picking Hammer. Studio interference muddling a director's creative vision, especially when it comes to something as significant as casting the lead actor -- is always a recipe for disaster. Doesn't Reeves have final creative control?

Pattinson is starting to feel more and more like the happy medium between what Reeves and WB.

WB wants a familiar face? Check. WB wants an actor that's tall? Check. Reeves wants a young, capable actor? Check. Reeves wants an unknown? Check.

Pattinson really seems like the best choice all things considered. He's traditional enough to please WB but unconventional enough to fit Reeves' vision of a younger Batman who doesn't have everything figured out yet

Pattinson isn’t anywhere close to being unknown, though. He’s infamous if anything.

Not saying I wouldn’t give him a chance, but I don’t think he qualifies as an in-between candidate.

Pattinson is way more famous and popular than Hammer. And had success as a leading man (albeit in an already established property). So the idea that he will be compromise between Reeves and the studio is a stretch, unless you mean a compromise in the sense he can he's a very good actor but is still well-known (unlike Hammer).

Reeves is a good director but I doubt Pattinson is dying to work with him, if you've seen the names he's worked with the last 5 years. And even if he likes Reeves concept, I still don't think he'd be enthusiastic about signing onto huge group movies that Reeves won't be directing. If this was like the Dark Knight trilogy I could be see him being interested, but it's not the same, so.

For some reason I think Pattinson would kill for the chance to be better known to most audiences as Batman than as the guy from Twilight. I have nothing to back this up, just a feeling, lol.

Guess it's a good thing they seem to be moving away from all that, then.

Don’t worry it’s true. And the only thing I have to back that up with is the knowledge that it’s true.:yay:

Yeah, I’d say he’s more ..known than unknown.

I would argue that Hammer is still pretty unknown. Like if you went to a random town and showed his picture asking who he was I would bet most people wouldn’t know his name.

Pattinson on the other hand, most would probably recognize him as “That guy from twilight....”

What I meant when I said Pattinson was unknown is that his talent is unknown.
People know him from Twilight but they don't know any of his other films. They know his face, not his talent.

Honestly, he seems like a pretty decent compromise to me - WB gets their "name," Reeves gets his talent, Vision'sVision gets someone over 6' tall.

I have a feeling they would shy away from Pattinson just because of the backlash that would ensue. I think WB would want to avoid as much bad press as possible, and they’re just leaving themselves wide open if they cast Pattinson.

But hey, what do I know? There will be backlash no matter who they cast I guess.

The backlash to Ledger runs contrary to this sentiment.

And seriously, actors can be all about that whole "Oh, I don't like superhero films and franchises, I prefer the art, etc, etc." until they aren't.

Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, Cara Delavigne, Michael Shannon, the list goes on.

They've never seemed to care about backlash before, as they've invited plenty of it.

And hey, Pattinson's casting could bring a whole new "Moms" demographic to Batman. :awesome:
