Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 6

He is though :D Quinto is doing a Nimoy-lite, whereas Peck is playing a very different version of Spock. And it works.

I like both but agree, Quinto was certainly emulating Nimoy to a degree (which wasn't unexpected I guess, Karl Urban did the same with Bones as did Yelchin with Chekov) but Peck's version of Spock is different. Still very Spock, but unique.

Soon only the BatHammer will remain!
His schedule is already quite stacked to begin with, adding more (that isn't prominent or giving big paycheck) this year seems too much. :funny:

Pretty delighted that some 'big names' aren't out of it yet.

Probably not a popular suggestion but one that just occurred to me as I was watching Star Trek : Discovery - Ethan Peck, who's been doing a great job of playing Spock in that show. I can't see that as being more than a limited role as we know Spock will ultimately end up on the Enterprise and that will be a different show entirely if they even go down that route. He's 33, 6ft tall, has a certain intensity about him and I think has a good look for Bruce Wayne/Batman.

He's the grandson of Gregory Peck and certainly seems to have inherited his 50's era Hollywood looks somewhat.

He has a great golden days Hollywood look and voice.

Only just recently caught him on Star Trek, I'm definitely liking his prospects. Has the height, looks, AND voice. A tad older than what the rumors have been indicating, but can easily pass for late 20s anyway.

Passes the bachelor playboy billionaire look too.

Already on record as vying for the part. Dare I say we may have found a new favorite?

Give him some blue contact lenses and he's spot-on.

I'm really hoping that this whole "wanting an actor in his late 20's" thing isn't a hard line drawn by Reeves. I say that selfishly, considering all of my favorite prospects are over 30 years old. If the guy can pass for late 20's, I'm not sure why his actual age would matter all that much.

There's something about his eyes that bother me and make it difficult for me to imagine him in the role... but I guess he can do it.

It truly is a shame he didn't exactly inherit his grandfather's looks.

Ethan looks more rugged and manly, which is to his benefit.

Though Peck was an early inspiration for the character, I don’t really think he physically captures my ideal version of Batman.

Peck captured a version of Superman/ Clark Kent.

Why is O'Brien crossed out?
I'd say that even if he isn't picked up for any other project, the chances he gets the role are super low.

He isn't a particularly great actor like Jack O'Conell is, he doesn't exactly have the looks like Armie Hammer does, and he isn't exactly a big star.

Peck was actually the inspiration for the looks of Year One Bruce Wayne and I think he was also the inspiration for Bob Kane/Bill Finger's early stuff so I'd say that you're both objectively wrong. ;)

What I meant to say is that he was perfect to play Superman.

Ethan Peck seems like chump change to me. He played Spock once? Whatever. He's some nobody rich kid. Get me a real actor!

Based on what? Arbitrary standards that you've established? Like you said, we don't know what Reeves wants? He is a great actor. He can run rings around Hammer in the acting department.

Peck was used as a reference for Y1 and Kingdom Come. That's really it as far as popular depictions of Batman. They're singular series too, so it's not like it was prominent in the books.

And considering Peck wasn't even an actor when Batman was first created, it would be hard to be an inspiration. Check your facts. ;)

I mean... Peck was really the /only/ actor I've found that has inspired a Batman look whatsoever.

All other renditions of the character seem to come entirely from the artist's mind.

Kane’s Batman is sorta kinda based on Douglas Fairbanks in the 1920 Zorro.

Well what’s the relevance beyond it being interesting trivia?

Actors have successfully played the part without looking like him.

Most artist renditions do not look like him, ergo, his appearance isn’t the ideal (or even common) physical template. So not sure why there’s a need to go back to him as support for potential candidates.

And I wondered why he looked familiar.

If Ethan is cast, full circle will be completed.
