Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 6

As far as the names being tossed around, I think it really depends on what type of Bruce Wayne we're getting for this specific film. In other words, who is the Bruce Wayne for this script as opposed to which actor fits closet to the comics.

Bale's Bruce Wayne was the naive -idealistist who had principles and a belief system that he could set an example for the people of Gotham, and through that ,forces the structural forces and institutions of the city to change. So Bale's Batman has been closet to the comics in terms of Batman's principles and ideology imo.

Keaton's Wayne , I would argue was much more of a conflicted guy who on the one hand, deep down, wanted something of a normal life yet was driven by anger ,revenge , and trauma to put on the suit which makes him difficult to have emotional connections. He was much more of an everyman in alot of ways than someone with a principle in saving Gotham. Keaton's in probably closet to the aspect of striking fear in criminals and having that sort of unpredictability as an opponent.

Affleck's is a bit harder for me to really pin down given the different interpretations of BvS and JL. I suppose burnt out and extreme is the best descriptor I personally can think of . He was a physical beast to be sure. In the physical terms he's probably closet to the comics.

Kilmer's Wayne seemed to me to be very much a guy looking for a way out of the costume and looking for a connection. He feels like he's just going through the motions and that on some level revenge is more of a motivating factor for him for being Batman. At the same time he feels guilt .He ultimately feels he can't be both Batman and Bruce Wayne and that he must choose one over the other. In the end he reconciles that he can have his cake and eat it too. He can have the family he wants, have the girl, yet be Batman because he chooses to be Batman, not because he's obligated to be Batman.

Which brings us to what Reeves Batman is . At this point , what little we've heard places emphasis on Batman's detective skills and noir mystery elements.

Now that says to me we're likely gonna get a much more cerebral Batman/Bruce Wayne in which his intellect may be his most powerful tool as opposed to being a physical beast or powerhouse like Affleck's.

That's where I can see much more of the outside the box choices like Teller, Hoult, O'Connell or even Gyllanhaal would fit into what Reeve's vision for the part may be of Batman for his film .

I'm reading tee leaves to be sure, but that's what I suspect.

From everything Reeves been saying, it sounds to me that at least psychologically he's going for a Batman thats like the one we typically read in the comics. Extremely intelligent, complex, tortured, with multiple dimensions to him, emotional.

Miles Tellarr will break people’s necks when his new Fresh Too old to die young releases. He is the real choice. His is the only name out there that is free and in the works. All other actors are busy or not interested or not even rumored. No ATJ or Evan weakling Peters

The picture above really sells him as a better Bruce Wayne as well, more so than Keaton looks-wise. He is ripe for the part and done and fresh

Even the newstatesman states that Miles Tellarr is a great actor: Miles Teller is a great actor. So why does he make so many bad films?

The man can act circles around most actors his age. His skill set is pretty supreme. He just needs plum projects and not only would he benefit from Batman, but Batman would hugely benefit from his skilled input and labor

Welcome to the real deal

I was on the fence about Tellaaaarrrr; thank you for posting this pic. It convinced me that I definitely don’t want him to play Bruce Wayne.

Evan Peters has more likeable personality than Ethan Peck.

The thing is, I can't hate the idea of Miles Teller in the role. I absolutely loved him in Whiplash, so I'd have no choice but to give him a shot.

:funny:

Hopefully only a couple more months to go before we can retire this thread.

Anyone think the role's locked, signed, and delivered already?

The radio silence seems to indicate there's no activity for a reason.

I have a feeling they are actually holding auditions now, at the very least. This silence suggests that the studio has locked things down.

This is very possible.

1. Robert Pattinson
2. Nicholas Hoult
3. Aaron Taylor-Johnson
4. Jeremy Irvine
5. Jack Reyner
6. Dylan O'Brien

Those are my top choices

I have to put my phone in a locker at my job so I don’t have any access to the internet until the end of the day when I leave. As soon as I get to it I check for Batman casting news :funny:

I convince myself that the news will be there waiting for me every single day.
I set myself up for disappointment
every. single. day

It’ll happen eventually.
Tomorrow probably....

I do think the radio silence definitely suggests that at the very least it's not gonna be a total and complete unknown because those types are usually cast in open casting calls like the one that led Tom Holland to receive the Spider-Man role, and those casting calls are practically imposssible to keep a secret since it's dozens and dozens of actors having conversations and auditions.

I can believe Reeves has his shortlist but that's about it.

Lauren Hissrich knew she wanted Henry Cavill as Geralt in April 2018 before casting and screentesting even started for the role. Cavill probably didn't even read for it. She said she met with him once and he's the one she wanted.

I say that because I think most creators or creative types sort of know who they want. Not always but in many cases.

I think Reeves and producers are doing push-ups. Who does more gets to choose an actor.

We'll get a shortlist eventually. It's not too late for that

I wouldn’t be surprised. They were talking to Affleck about playing Batman in 2012 when he was in the mix to direct Will Beal’s JL script.

So I finally sat down and watched Good Time (well, most of it... still got about 20 minutes to go, so don't spoil the end for me). I gotta say, I've come around on Pattinson, though not necessarily for Batman. Dude definitely has acting chops so if he got the role, I wouldn't complain. I think he'd be better suited to a villain though. Maybe it's just his frame but he looks like he could play a killer Joker to me. Or a really good street level villain. Either way, I certainly won't knock his acting anymore. He's definitely left "Edward" in the dust.

Watch Cosmopolis and you're gonna want him for Batman

My top 5 actors

5- Robert Pattinson
4- Armie Hammer
3- Oliver Jackson Cohen
2- Miles Teller
1- Ethan Peck

My honorable mentions would of course be Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Jack O'Connell, Jack Reynor and Dylan O'Brien

However, for me it is between Ethan Peck and Miles Teller for me anyway. Pattinson for me made this list but he was at #5 if anything. I just can't see Pattinson as Bruce Wayne or even see him as Batman because to me he has more of a villainous look to him than a hero look. Pattinson would make a great Joker or even casting him as Two Face or Scarecrow. Armie Hammer of course for me would be at #4 because as much as I love Hammer and I do I don't think DC/WB will cast him especially if it comes down to scheduling conflicts which I am sure there will be. Plus if Marvel reaches out to Armie before DC does, then well there you go. Oliver Jackson Cohen for me is an unknown in the sense that he isn't as well known to people especially in Hollywood which works well in his favor and with this role if he were cast as Bruce Wayne it would no doubt be a breakout role for him.

However for me, Miles Teller would be at #2 because like people say he is not only free in terms of scheduling but at the same time he does have CBM experience all be it failed experience with Marvel's Fantastic Four but that is no doubt through no fault of his own especially considering the script was not only bad but the movie overall just wasn't that great to begin with. Plus Teller is becoming more well known out there in Hollywood case in point his projects that he has coming ie. Top Gun Maverick and he does have the Bruce Wayne look to him that he could definitely pass off for being billionaire playboy/tortured soul. Not to mention Teller can definitely act.

For me Ethan Peck is the favorite because not only can he act but looks wise he definitely could pull off being Bruce and he has the squared jaw thing down as well. Not to mention he is underrated as an actor. Yeah sure he may not be as well known but that is of course what you want especially if you're DC. It has worked wonders for Marvel in terms of casting actors who are not as well known and they break out in roles given to them.
