Most popular picks, ranked:

Josh Brolin
Michael Fassbender
Jon Hamm
Oscar Isaac
Ryan Gosling
Jake Gyllenhaal
Armie Hammer

Okay, Brolin isn't popular. But he should be. :woot:

I really don't care for any of those picks, but I don't have anything of importance to add sadly. :( I want someone inspired, and I'm a MASSIVE Fassbender and Isaac fan. They just seem like more of the same go to actors for these roles. ****...I really wish I had the perfect suggestion, so I could genuinely contribute instead of just *****ing. What about mining the indie field? Is there anyone in that group that stands out to anyone?

And are we stick in general with the older version of Batman? Are they gonna age up someone like Gyllenhaal? I'm about to just start throwing names out there. I'd really like to see them come up with the next big thing. Take a Scott Haze or a Frank Grillo and put them through a hellacious screening process until you find what you want. Hell, see every damn no name with a SAG card that can legally audition for the role! That would be kinda awesome! What's he been in before? Not a goddamn thing, so he's going to own the **** out of Batman to make his mark! Idk... I'm sure we'll get Gyllenhaal. :D

I'm seriously just throwing out supposed "up and comers".
Glen Powell
Joe Always
Michiel Huisman
Colin Morgan
Too bad Callan Mulvey is already in the DCEU.
These people are all over the place age wise, talent wise...I'm just throwing turds at the wall to see what will stick. Hell, screen test Wesley from Daredevil! What's his name? Toby Leonard Moore! Seriously, screen test everyone! Screen test Iced over and Silvermoth! That's the only way you'll find something truly unique.

Let's see, screen test Jon Snow! Kit Harrington won't have **** to do here very soon. Or Sam Claflin. Finnick can be Batman! Jesus...these are all so ****ing bad. :lmao:

Collider's Frosty asked around and Jake is only one of the options for the role. He did "confirm" that Reeves had a meeting with Gyllenhaal. Didn't see Campea's video, so maybe it had the same info.

Batman comes from old money. It makes sense why he would be a white boy.

Yeah, sort of thinking this too. Oscar's awesome, and he definitely brings the brooding & intense stuff in large supply, but yeah.

Maybe it's not quite as strong a necessity as, say, Bond with his old-money Scottish aristocracy stuff, but it's the same type of thing. The name "Wayne" comes off pretty Anglo, and we know he's obviously of money going back many generations. In the U.S. *Shrugs* You'd sorta figure he's part of that particular mould.

Would it make ya’ll feel better if they call him Bruno Diaz or would ya’ll freak out more?

Not every Macbeth has been played by Scottish actors, nor has every Julius Caesar been set in Rome.

I don’t know why freakin’ Batman should be held to a higher degree.

I feel like Gyleenhaal is just more of the same. Does every batman have to be white? Surely if you wanted to see a white batman you could just see the last ten guys who got the job

Well Batman/Bruce Wayne has been a white character for the entirety of his existence, so yeah he should be white.

I think Dano would be an interesting Riddler but an awful Joker. Like, Cringe Worthy.

I mean Bruce Wayne comes from old money, so it makes sense that he come from a family of WASPs. Although, I don't know what stops Thomas Wayne from marrying a woman of color (especially in this day and age), so the concept of a bi-racial Bruce Wayne in a contemporary environment isn't so far-fetched.

dudes be like oscar isaac cant be batman hes not white

then they see oscar isaac as batman and be like actually i always thought oscar isaac would be a good batman i cant picture anyone else in the role and anyone else would have been miscast

Batman also has a very rightwing conception of criminality. I just don't see a half black Bruce thinking that the most productive way to deal justice is by beating up on poor people.

I would love to see Superman as a POC though. Especially given his story.

Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the best actors working today. It would be great if he was cast.

Isaac is good. But he's not Gyllenhaal good. The point of Bruce is that he's a rich white man and comes from a long line of rich white men. That's all people see when they look at the playboy. A spoiled rich guy who would never risk his life to help people in the streets, especially if they're poor etc. But he does. He's not like a lot of the others. His name is BRUCE WAYNE and I'm sorry but it's a part of his character that he's old money. If that wasn't the case, I'd be fan casting quite a few black actors or Latino actors, because we know there are many good actors of color who can portray public Wayne and then Batman too. But to me, it doesn't match the old money character that I believe has been a staple.

Maybe in Arknofsky's experimental adaptation of Year One. Then I'd say Oscar would be a very good choice for that. But this is not that.

My suggestion is why not make Oscar Isaac Harvey Dent instead?

Kit is busy throughout 2018 shooting the final season of Game of Thrones, and who knows what else is on his plate. He would make a good Nightwing though.

Grillo has a greasy villain look and vibe to him that is wrong for Bruce. He could play a decent Black Mask maybe.

Haha, I don't really get that at all, but to each their own I guess.

And the age thing, I dunno, only 4 years older than Affleck and 3 older than Armitage. If they want to skew to a younger interpretation than Affleck's going forward, fine, but I dunno that 49's gonna make that much difference than 45, for "Affleck's version" of Bats in the DC verse.

Dude nails the "cold, driven, focused, lonely damaged guy" vibe though.

The Jake news is pretty interesting, assuming it's true. Love the guy as an actor, he certainly has the chops for it, and the look. Not sure I'm loving the idea of a Gyllenhaal Batman though, don't know why. Might be the "big name" thing again, like Affleck, or the jarring nature of jumping from Affleck's grizzled veteran dude who's been through so much horrible crap in his career so far to...36 year old (and looking younger than that) Gyllenhaal.

If it was a totally new, fresh take, unassociated with the Snyder stuff so far, I'd say hell yeah. Just seems a little odd at this point in the game. Though yeah, can totally buy he's someone Reeves would have in mind for it, seems the type.

So wow, he would have only been 24 when testing for Batman Begins then? Guess that would have fit just fine for that version though, makes sense.

And if Gyllenhaal's indeed in consideration, what would this say about the DC verse going forward? Maybe that they're potentially...well, not "rebooting" things, but might be doing a sort of soft-reset on things and changing up dynamics and tone going forward? Might be for the best to just let Matt off the leash and do things entirely his way, not worry too much about trying to fit things in with what's come before with Affleck. Jake would work way better in that type of context, like the broader events of the DC verse so far have happened, but they're turning a blind eye to the details and sort of veering in another direction going forward.

Basically: Jake for Bats, totally. Jake for AFFLECK'S Bats? Ehh, that's going to be a little irritating. Make it a whole new beast, but just acknowledging the stuff so far in broad general terms.

EDIT: Height-wise, 6'0" seems fine too. Wasn't that what Bale was? *Shrugs* Not sure it's that valid a complaint, Affleck's been the only guy of comics-Bruce height we've had so far, it doesn't seem to matter.
I agree that Jake should just be his own Batman instead of trying to make us believe he's a 45 year old who's been doing this for 20 years. I wouldn't buy him in a Justice League sequel, and because he would outact every other hero in the room.

They also shouldn't shove it down our throats that he's the young version of Affleck in prequels. Just make a new trilogy and act as if it's a reboot. Hopefully we don't get another Justice League

To quote you Dude nails the "cold, driven, focused, lonely damaged guy" vibe though.
That's not All of Bruce Wayne though. What about compassionate? Warmth? I don't think Caviezel has much range and his VOICE is always the exact same monotone delivery. I would hate his casting way more than Affleck.

I like the Sam Caflin suggestion, if they go younger.

Although he was reeeeaaaaallllllllyyyyyyy bad in that My Cousin Rachel movie. But I don't know how anyone could have been good in that turd.

I'd be fine with Gyllenhaal though I was angling for him to be Hal Jordan.

Gyllenhaal is a strong choice and I would certainly be happy with him as Batman.

Well, some people were complaining about the same names coming up so that's something outside the box.
