To be honest if Bale was never in the Nolan-trilogy and people suggested him here, chances are the majority would be saying "no".

How was the reaction here when Bale was announced?

Bale was the overwhelming fan favourite for a long time before he was announced; everyone was delighted when he was.

Yeah, I think a lot of people still want Bale to come back.
It is not gong to happen though .

I remember people mocking up AP photos of Bale right away after Nolan was announced...

Bentley is my favorite choice so far, put me on the list.

Also, in my opinion, I think looking "evil" as some say, works for him because it makes him more intimidating and cold - traits that give Batman his edge.

Yeah, that's true.

It was pretty ****ing crazy, too. Because the fan favorite never gets chosen. Like...never. But, that time it actually happened. And Bale was overwhelmingly the fan favorite. I think 'American Psycho' and 'Equilibrium' were the biggest reasons people were rooting for him.

And when you consider that the only other name that was seriously being considered at the time was Ashton Kutcher...

I go back a longtime and I first remember seeing Bale mentioned by fans around 2000 when Shaft came out. As a matter of fact there was this Batman 5 site run by a guy named Fabio 2 who was one of Bale's biggest supporters during that time between 2000 and 2003 when he was cast.

I'll never forget how excited I was when Bale was announced. Just about 10 years ago now, man time does fly.

Bentley is not my first choice but he's slowly growing on me. And I could actually see him getting the role. Out of the three "big names" being tossed around, I'd gladly take him over Gyllenhaal and Gosling.

I'd still rather someone completely under the radar though.

Yeah, earlier this morning (or yesterday), I touched on why Bentley's look is perfect for Bruce/Bats. See here: http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=26502691&postcount=715

If he was mentioned 5-7 years ago, I would have said no, but, much like how Cavill's look for Supes improved with age, I think Wesley's appearance better embodies the character as he is now. Not back in 2007 though.

To help paint a picture it was like if Michael Fassbender got cast as Batman. Yep it was also like when Henry Cavill was cast as Superman. Major praise from the fandom.

Bentley's voice is worse for Batman than Gosling's.

And Fass would outshine Cavill easily.

lol! Same here. I remember it was announced on September 11, 2003. Everyone else in the world was pissing and moaning about the deaths of Johnny Cash and John Ritter. Others were still mourning the two year anniversary of the 9-11 attacks. However, I was grinning ear to ear because finally there was going to be another Batman movie and that WB was listening to their fans!

agreed about bentley's voice but i do like his voice for bruce i think it would be a good contrast if he had a deep batvoice.

Going by herolee's paranoia, that was going to happen anyway regardless who plays Batman. :o

Plus think of all the pretty. :atp:

It was moreso than when Cavill was cast wasn't it? I thought Bale's casting led to a wave of ecstacy over the batboards?

Probably, especially since Bale's more talented and had a larger resume.

I think voices can be worked on -- especially if you're an actor. I have faith in the Wes. And let's be honest, Bale's Batman voice was awful. Kevin Conroy set the bar pretty high.

I know how the people of the Hype think now. After researching through all the discussion boards on the site, I have compiled what many consider a near-perfect cast for the JL:

Henry Cavill - Superman
Michael Fassbender - Batman
Emily Blunt - Wonder Woman
Ryan Gosling - The Flash
Idris Elba - Green Lantern

I think it was awkward at first but it will soon become, if it hasn't already, a fan favourite voice, second only to Kevin Conroy's.

Seriously i have grown to like it, hell even love it. Realisticaly speaking though yeah in TDK the voice was too deep, in BB was pretty damn perfect IMO.

Boys, boys I think we can all agree that Val Kilmer was the best Batman. :o

Val Kilmer could have been the best Batman. As a kid he was a bloody idol to me. He was Batman for me, The Dark Knight !! I loved Michael Keaton because of Beetlejuice but i didn't really get his Batman but Kilmer was good looking as bruce wayne and he felt it as Batman. Wasn't his fault the movie was mediocre. I still give props to Batman Forever for even trying to touch on Bruce's past and what made him Batman.

I adore the Bale voice in BB. TDK yeah it goes over in places but sometimes it sounds great. TDKR was the worst for me but some of the dialogue didn't help.
