Yea I would have loved to have seen what Kilmer would have done with better material. He did great with what he had to work with. I can't believe he's fallen off the map like he has and only does B movies now...oh well. I still think Gyllenhaal is going to be Batman. I'd love to see Urban or Hamm but it looks like they will cast younger.

Yeah Kilmer got screwed when he signed on at the time as he thought that BF was going to be more like Burton's films.

if Gyllenhaal can do a low/deep voice when playing Batman, then i would be all for it if he is cast

he's already got the looks and acting chops to play a great Bruce Wayne i think

I was really against Jake G for a while, but as it seems like more and more of a reality, I wouldn't mind it. He's not in my top 3, but whatev. He'll be good.

Jensen Ackles is kind of in the same place for me. Even though he's not one of my choices, he has the passion and the voice for Batman. That's probably more important than looking like comic Wayne. I want someone that cares about the character, not just the part.

I go back a longtime and I first remember seeing Bale mentioned by fans around 2000 when Shaft came out. As a matter of fact there was this Batman 5 site run by a guy named Fabio 2 who was one of Bale's biggest supporters during that time between 2000 and 2003 when he was cast.

Yeah. Bale was one of the few casting choices in which the overwhelming majority of the fans were like "Yes!".

Other than Bale, fanboys have pretty much moaned about every other actor cast in major leading roles, usually underestimating their abilities to pull the role off. The list is long including Macguire, Downey, Ledger, Hathaway, Hardy, Adams, Keaton, Craig , etc.

I expect the same thing to happen with whoever is cast as Bruce Wayne or Lex Luthor for that matter.

Agreed Green Day... i think these are going to be the finalists...

Joe Manganiello has a connection to Snyder, being his number two choice for Superman

Wes Bentley has a connection to Bale, they're friends and have done a movie together, and he just signed on for Nolan's new movie. I know Bale and Nolan aren't part of the new film, but the fact that Bentley is associated with those two can't hurt his chances, I'm sure Goyer is still in touch with Nolan and Bale.

Ryan Gosling is the clear fan favorite. So I'm sure he'll be considered.

Jake Gyllenhaal was Goyer's choice for Batman. This time around, Gyllenhaal looks much older and mature, and his look actually fits Batman really well now.

If True Blood got in the way for Superman, then I predict the same will apply to Batman. So I wouldn't be too sure with Joe.

Gyllenhaal and Gosling really don't look like Batman to me. No problem with the actors, i really love both of them, especially Gosling but i don't see Batman or Bruce Wayne in any of them. In Gosling i see Dick Grayson, maybe and in Gyllenhaal....nothing Batman wise.

I think it was awkward at first but it will soon become, if it hasn't already, a fan favourite voice, second only to Kevin Conroy's.

Seriously i have grown to like it, hell even love it. Realisticaly speaking though yeah in TDK the voice was too deep, in BB was pretty damn perfect IMO.

A deep voice is fine. What bothers me is that it sounds like he has throat cancer. And if such is considered a positive in the years to come, it's only because fans have a tendency to look back on great films and such through rose colored glasses of nostalgia.

Snyder said he went with Cavill because he had the innocence needed for the role, not because they couldn't work around his schedule

Did you know HBO (the network that broadcasts True Blood) is owned by Time Warner/WB? If WB wants Manganiello as Batman he will be cast. They will work around his tv schedule.

George Clooney was on ER when he was cast as Batman so don't be so sure he won't be cast

Joe M would tower over Cavill. Isn't he like, 6'4? I'm not TOO picky, but I would DEF want Supes to have a slight height advantage over Bats. I personally always viewed Bats to be a stalky, shorter frame. Around 5'10.

The new Batman avert your gaze cause it is too shocking for the faint of heart:

Maybe you saw Dick Grayson in Ryan Gosling around 2003, but with the roles he has taken in the past few years I can't possibly fathom how you see Dick Grayson in Ryan Gosling. Did you see Drive? He was basically Michael Keatons Bruce Wayne in that movie. Quiet, conflicted, brooding. Add to the fact that Gosling is like 32, I can't possibly see how you see Batmans 13 year old sidekick in him.

It's as if people think the only defining traits for casting this character need to be black hair and blue eyes, as if there haven't been several iterations with brown eyes and brown/blond hair. Ryan Gosling has the physique, he has the acting chops, has proven he can play dark characters struggling with duality. Of all the rumored names, he is clearly the best choice. Unless they go with an older Bruce, in which the best choice would be John Hamm, easily.

I don't really believe what Snyder says half the time, just like all directors.

Bruce Wayne's supposed to be suave and slightly devilish looking like this:

Joe Mag is much too feral in appearance.

Looks wise, I'd say I like Gyllenhaal and Bentley best for Bruce.

Yeah I don't know why it's not working but anyway I'll try it again.

To be honest if Bale was never in the Nolan-trilogy and people suggested him here, chances are the majority would be saying "no".

How was the reaction here when Bale was announced?

Bale Dammit! :cmad:

Bale was the overwhelming fan fave - the only other strong fanbase I can remember was for David Boreanez (ugh!) the reaction was one of amazement because it was such wishful thinking and never really thought it would happen, quite a euphoric experience. I remember so many pics from Equilibrium and American Psycho. Fun times.

David Boreanez would be perfect! :o

Bales Batman voice doesn't sound like he has throat cancer. Though I see your point, It does have a peculiar sound to it, that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I think in BB and TDKR it was perfect, it seemed a little over the top in TDK. The first scene between Batman and Gordon at the GCPD, Bale turned his speakers up to 11.

kinda funny how bale's working with fassbender, bentley, gosling, cooper, kinnaman, and maganiello with malick.

he should have a lottery to see who gets the role.

In TDKR sometimes I believed there was a contest between Hardy and Bale at who can make the most inaudible voice. :o
