Thankfully, the Clooney story is just an opinion piece .
Nothing to worry about .
Clooney has his own production company these days.
They say he keeps a picture of him in the batsuit in his office to remind himself
of the folly of doing a film for purely commercial reasons .
Clooney wouldnt do it .

Has anybody suggested Antony Starr, the Sheriff from Banshee?

Just read the rumour that WB will pay Bale whatever he want to reprise his role as Batman. This would be a massive mistake on the part of WB as it would forever tie MoS to the Nolanverse and an actor who would make 1 more movie (at most).

I could be wrong but I never bought the Bale rumors. Even if he were to come back for this Batman flick it would be a one-off. No way he would sign off on doing 4 or 5 more Batman films which the next film is supposed to launch. You'd basically have to immediately recast.

No.

Kitsch is one of those guys Hollywood tried to make a star without really taking a good hard look at whether he has any talent or charisma. Though he might have been really good in Friday Night Lights, whatever appeal he had there seems to have dissipated in the years since. He managed to be one of the worst things about Wolverine (and there were many to chose from, so that's quite a feat). John Carter and Battleship would have bombed no matter who played the lead, but his bland performances as the hero in each of those movies kept either one from even being remotely tolerable.

I agree. I actually even liked John Carter quite a bit, but by the end of the movie all I could think of was how much better the whole thing would have been with a real leading man in the role. Kitsch isn't the worst actor in the world but he just doesn't have it in him to be believable in these larger than life heroic roles.

Bingo. JC had a host of problems but if they had cast a guy with actual charisma and a personality (like say, James Purefoy, who was also in the movie in a worthless role), it might have been at least watchable.

Channing Tatum should not be Batman. Just no. And that's not even coming from a bias against the guy, he's just not fit for this role.

HOWEVER, I do think he could pull off Barry Allen or Hal Jordan. I will give him that. But no Batman.

Tatum would be terrible as Bruce Wayne or just about any DC character I can think of. I hate him as an actor. He would be horrendous especially as The Flash/Barry Allen, he's too meatheady for him, clearly, and he's not likable enough for Hal Jordan.

He's just a *****e.

How's this for a change from the Gosling, Evans etc suggestions?

Timothy Olybat Wayne

He sucks. Better Lex than Wayne, and he'd be a terrible Lex.

^^ Everything you've just said sums up about my exact thoughts on Taylor Kitsch.

The thought has actually crossed my mind a few times. He didn't direct or write B&R, he played a part exactly how they wanted him to play it.

The idea for George Clooney again, now there's an idea. He'd be the oldest actor who will bring the gravitas.

Actually when he was first cast as Batman, he still had a main role on ER. WB television also produced ER so scheduling arrangements were made so he could do both Batman and ER.

TV actors on current shows like Jon Hamm may not have a good chance because of scheduling conflicts. Though he would be awesome if cast.

But maybe if the show was also produced by WB, then it will be possible, like when Clooney was Bats. So where am I going with this? Maybe Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder can do it because WB television produces his show.

Besides, if it is true that they're considering a young "prettyboy" type like Orlando Bloom (which would suck!), they could choose a better one who can also show a dark side like Ian Somerhalder. This guy would be way better as Bruce/Batman than Orlando Bloom.

He is not my first choice, but he might be a good option for WB to think of. Though he hasn't had a big feature film role, he already has a fan following from TV, much like Clooney did when he first transitioned to films from TV.

Ian Somerhalder would be a decent choice. A bit too young though.

EDIT: A bit too young LOOKING. He's 34.

I've always felt like Somerhalder had more acting chops than... anyone else on the CW. I still wish they hadn't killed him off so early on in Lost. They should have just offed his annoying stepsister (which they did soon enough anyway) and kept him around. He actually did play a good Bruce Wayne for a few episodes on Smallville (his character WAS initially intended to be Bruce but they changed it at the last minute because Batman Begins was coming out).

It seems like a long shot, but I remember hearing that he was in consideration for Superman in MOS, early on in the casting process. I have no idea if it was true but if so, perhaps WB will give him a look for Batman? He definitely suits Bruce more than Clark.

Here's an off the wall candidate. Up and coming actor. Loved him in Friday Night Lights and his performance as Gambit. He could definitely pull off the Bruce Wayne persona. Onky question is could he be dark enough to pull off The Batman.

He's a really really REALLY bad actor. One of those who makes me wonder how he passes auditions at all.

He's been in some weak or average movies but I like him. He's had more success on the stage than on film.

People on other sites keep bringing up Jason Momoa.
Momoa got a big ass iconic leading man role in Conan and blew it. The film sucked donkey balls but he definitely contributed to it sucking so much. Even Arnold gave a better performance than him.

I could live with him. He's charismatic. But has to be reigned in a bit. Can be a bit too earnest, like in Star Trek and then it starts looking fake.

He can do charming well but can he do scary/threatening? I don't think he's had such a role yet.

Yeah, I'd be happy with Evans. Not my #1 choice, but a good choice nonetheless.

I like Ian Somerhalder suggestion a lot. Add him to one of my top choices

How can somebody call Luke Evans a God? Or "very talented". He's an average actor. He has some screen presence ill give him that, but he's nothing fantastic in the acting department. He's been solid in doses in the past but nothing more.

I'm confident Somerhalder could pull it off. He is really talented and versatile, and he does look a lot like the comic book Bruce. I think if he just added some muscle he'd look perfect. I guess the only question is whether WB would go for a TV actor with a relatively small following.

I personally don't think Bruce has to "look" a certain way in the way that Superman does, but of the actors suggested, only three really look like the comic version: Somerhalder, Bentley and Hoechlin. Somerhalder and Bentley probably edge out Hoechlin in acting talent, and Somerhalder edges out Bently slightly in that he looks a little less evil.

I could definitely see Somerhalder in the role.

Potentially crazy suggestion, but Ewan McGregor?
