Batman R.I.P.

SDCC08-DC-POSTCRISISBATM-02.jpg

All you Morrison haters, just try and tell me this doesn't look exciting. Go on, lie :yay:

DiDio then turned to "Batman R.I.P.," rhetorically asking the audience what they thought would happen at the end. He then brought up "Batman R.I.P." writer Grant Morrison to discuss the story.

"'Batman R.I.P.' ends with quite a big shock," said Morrison, saying the ending will be followed by a two-issue story that is effectively the last Batman story. A slide was shown of Batman: Battle for the Cowl with Nightwing, Jason Todd, Robin, Hush and Catwoman appearing on the image.

Morrison using Catwoman and Jason Todd :D

Dude it really doesn't I don't care for the three generations of robins. I hate Hush since all he does is "I WISH MY PARENTS WERE DEAD LIKE YOU BRUCE!" and catwoman ya she is fine.

you must have a void in your heart if you don't care about the Robins :csad:

I wouldnt say I dont like the Robins but I really dont always care for how they are written outside of their own books.

Nightwing and Robin [Tim] are far better written in their own books.

The best thing Jason ever did was die and I hate Hush as well.

The Robins I have always felt took away from Batman. I only like Jason Todd who was killed which added to the Batman tragedy.

Also I like Batman to be on his own one man crusade.

I'm of 2 minds on that topic.I have no problem with Batman training a sucssesser ....after all Batman cant live forever. But I also feel that he wouldnt get along with them very well all the time and that they should seek to be on their own more often then to be teamed with Batman.

Further more I feel that the stories they have written of late with them teamed havent been very good.

About the last Batman story I read that had them in a great team up was "The Cult".

Have you guys read Heart of Hush? I bought it, and it's pretty good. Seems like IF they kill Batman off, Hush will be the one to do it. I really liked Aesop's stories incorporation into the story. Though the moral of the Lion's Share didn't fit quite well with the lesson the guy learned. It says it's supposed to come out in september but I have it ... does anyone else have it?
EDIT: Looks like it IS released. When does Batman DC 847 come out?

I hope it reveals the greatest Batman enemy Grant Morrison and proceeds to have batman lay the smack down upon him.

I'm totally over RIP, the only good thing about it has been Dini's tie-in, which I doubt is gonna have little-to-nothing to do with what Morrison is doing.

The way I say it is either everything Morrison is doing is a halluciation (the wayne's & alfred) or not really true ('the last batman story'). If it is true, then we're stuck with a bastardized origin or no bruce wayne/batman.

Where's the fun in it? What do we get out of it? We're basically waiting to find out if the Morrison destroys the character or not. Did we not learn anything from One More Day?

Thank God for Dini.

Who could replace batman?
If its someone not in the bat family, no one would give a damn(a costume is a costume)
Female characters obviously cant replace batman.
No one would respect Hush as batman. The comic would certainly right itself as "how to get rid of the fake batman"

Robin and Damien are too young to be Batman. While some artist cheat, most draw these kids as well kids. Batboy anyone?

Jason Todd faces the same hush treatment. And it would be treading on the nightwing thing.

Yeah if batman is getting a replacement, Its going to be Dick Grayson..........again

His life is just as crappy as Bruce. Though this time next year i bet Bruce will be Batman.

I'm still sticking with Bruce being Batman and nothing too major happening. The worst I see is some happening to Jet(because she is actually bad) or Alfred.

I really hope bruce isn't replaced. If he is then I pray that Bruce is put in a lazarus pit and resurrected to kick the tar out of the new batman and fit right back in(knightfall anyone?).

I really want to know what Hush is doing there. wtf is morrison thinking

I liked Heart of Hush! So is what title is the main RIP storyline following? Cause it definitely isn't Detective Comics...

I just hope its not Jason because that would mean I have to acknowledge they brought him back to life in (in my opinion) one of the worst moves ever.

Everything else I've been thoroughly enjoying and look forward to seeing what happens next.

Insight into the character? What do you get out of any story?

OK, so yeah the story is interesting, I'll admitt that. I'm just thinking long term. Its just they're building this up to be one of those 'nothing will ever be the same' events & its the idea that his origin/parents might be changed. Somethings are best left alone & dont need to be changed. Then again it might not happen, though the anticipation is driving me crazy.

I dont know what to think anymore. Pretty soon I'll be wandering the streets deranged too, wearing a sewn together bat-costume!:brucebat::huh::grin:

ya know, for all the crap i'm giving this arc, the more i think about it, the more excited i am to see how this turns out. And right now, i think it's a great time to be a Batman fan. The Dark Knight pretty much pwned everything. After "R.I.P" is a 2 part epilogue by Denny O'Neal, which is then followed by a 2 part story by Neil Gaiman. And i can only imagine who's gonna take over AFTER Gaiman...unless Morrison is has plans to keep going.

I'm actually more interested to see how Gaiman ties up everything and closes the Batman story. So even if R.I.P. winds up being a dud, there's still Neil Gaiman.

Gaiman will end it like this.

Batman will awaken in a dream world and Morpheus the sandman will say, that is all a dream.

You know what. I don't think I want to keep my open mind about this arc anymore when people start saying things like:

""'Batman R.I.P.' ends with quite a big shock," said Morrison, saying the ending will be followed by a two-issue story that is effectively the last Batman story."

And starts joking about Jason Todd being Batman... That stuff just doesn't sit right. And another thing, I'm real sick of Hush. I loved the first Hush arc but since then I'm just so tired of Hush popping up everywhere and being such an important new character.

I'm finding it hard to have faith in Grant Morrison after some of the ruination I've seen him put out.
