Batman R.I.P.

oh, god. batman becomes a homeless guy? what? no one recognises bruce wayne?

nonsense. bruce has always been strongest in the mind. that's his super power, his mind. his detective skills, his determination, his planning. this adversary that "wins" better break him down pretty damn comprehensively. it better not be this third man devil batman. he's very poorly written, and is very much an inducer of the old eye-roll syndrome.

OH GOD!!

(Bangs head against monitor)

PLEASE LET THIS NOT BE TRUE!!!

:cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad::cmad:

true or not, it's only temporary, like everything in comics, whatever morrison says about "it'll change the dark knight forever" oooooo, give me a break.

And that is what makes it even dumber.

(Bangs head against monitor... again.)

Sheesh, I know what you mean.

I suspect that the mastermind is Professor Hugo Strange since this sounds kinda like it's up his alley (between recent portayals in the new cartoon and his own comic appearances). In the classic Englehart-Rogers stories, Strange played havoc with Bruce/Batman, by usurping his own identity and trying to steal from the company.

I would think that the mastermind knows Batman's identity already, so that would rule out Joker (but he could be involved nontheless). Ra's is already involved in the ongoing storyline (perhaps too much).

I also thought that Jezebel was introduced really too quickly and having Bruce decide to marry her after hardly seeing her at all sounds like poor planning. Of course, the fact that her name is Jezebel should flash Red Alert to anyone reading this storyline since there have been other biblical references in the ongoing storyline.

My concern is who is the Batman that appears to be crucified in Final Crisis #2? I would love to see Jason Todd be Batman for all of two issues and then get slaughtered, never to be heard from again but that is probably too much to hope for. His portrayal has gone from bad to worse since his resurrection and he still exhibits violent (ready-to-kill) behavior despite his meeting that alternate Earth Batman that killed all the villains in their world. And he had the nerve to talk down to Batman about murder even though he has killed before and still has no problem about killing since his encounter with that Batman. Really poor writing, but then what do you expect when the editors tell the writers what to write instead of the other way around. Marvel is probably no better (look at the Peter-Mary Jane wedding mess) but I digress.... :)

Sorry if I carried on too long.

I had this as an idea story arc for years.

Would Bruce Wyane still be Batman if he lost all his fortune and fame.

I know I should've keep this to myself when I told Grant Morrison this idea at a party one night.

That's it No more long Isalnad Ice Tea for me when comcibook writers are around. :oldrazz:

Oh, and a side note:

If you read Kingdom Come, you'll see that Batman gives up the "suit" of Bruce Wayne, and walks around in regular clothes as "Batman."

Now is he falling, or is he climbing and the picture is upside down?

Wow, that's pretty awsome. And they just went into Y1 after that I presume?

Darren Aronofsky and Frnak Miller already did something similar with their BATMAN: YEAR ONE adaption. I think I'll wait for the TPB.

Let's see...Bruce Wayne will end up with a personality issue. Batman will be believed dead. Gotham will go to Hell, and Dick and Tim are going to realize someone needs to be ready to step into the role if Batman ever does die. And then Batman will come back.

Is that what's actually happening or...

heh.

not impressive as a story i guess, but at least that way he isn't actually killing bruce wayne.

that's Batman #400 correct? One of the best damn stories i've ever read. It should be reprinted.

It is, the story is called "Resurrection Night" with an introduction by Stephen King. And it was pencilled by a lot of different artists. Bolland, Joe Kubert, George Perez, Byrne and some other guys.

Batman#401, 402 and 403 were some kind of "filler issues", some were part of the post-crisis "Legends" crossover, the other stories don't fit anywhere. Yes, the post-crisis Batman was not established and they did a crossover. :whatever:

Yea, i'm looking at it right now. The art by Sienkiewicz is great, especially the cover. The Bolland stuff is great too, perfect for closing the issue. I found this one amongst my dad's collection. I remember this story being one of the first, if not THE first, Batman story i ever actually sat down to read and was blown away by it.
