BvS Batman/Superman Pushed Back to 2016 - Part 1

Something few people are focusing on is the simple fact that a film of this novelty and momentum would make bucket loads of cash for any studio.

If WB was simply concerned with money they could have pushed forward(as they no doubt have in the past) and share holders would have no doubt been satisfied. This move seems to be fully fueled by an appeal to quality. Given Affleck has now attached his name to this(and with his career and name at stake), I see the people involved beyond the art of cash grabbing.

This particular announcement being met with more groans is fickle imo....but expected around here.
Good post... That sounds interesting and viable.

Hope is on April. Can't wait for it :woot:

Yeah. Me too. The only thing that really bothers me about this (and I'm sure many other people can relate) is that there are NO other DC movies (that we know of) coming out between now and May 2016. So maybe it'll calm down when they announce another DCCU film? Perhaps this summer? Only time will tell. Though, someone said that they will be able to wrap up filming in late 2014 and get directly to shooting Justice League in early 2015 so that could be a reason for the push-back. Still, meh, I like the idea of introducing each character in their own film before doing a huge team-up thing. :oldrazz:

Let's go over some big movies that were pushed back, and suffered little when they came out.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (WB) -- November 21, 2008 to July 15, 2009
Star Trek (Paramount) -- December 25, 2008 to May 8, 2009
The Great Gatsby (WB) -- December 25, 2012 to May 10, 2013
G.I. Joe Retaliation (Paramount/MGM) -- June 29, 2012 to March 28, 2013
Man of Steel (WB) -- December 2012 to June 14, 2013

Three were already completed in time for their original release dates, while The Great Gatsby underwent retooling in the editing room and reshoots. In WB's history of moving back big films, the new dates actually worked in favor for them.

Good point. The delay of a movie can either be based on good reasoning or something negative, obviously. Hopefully their reasonings are good and they're merely trying to make the best film they can - that and I do think it has to do with script rewrites. The good news is the film hasn't been delayed to a January release date or has been delayed multiple times. That would be a terrible sign, no doubt.

Looking around here..it is such great joy to see such great pain. Does that make me a terrible creature?

Knowing our luck, they'll begin production the last week of June. Hell, June 30th.

Five and a half months :awesome::up:!

I don't think there's a movie for 2014 or 2015 thought (hope there's a 2015 for christmas, a pretty good gift) but I guess and I think the most possible scenario is MOS2/JL being 2016/2017 released and then solo movies after that event. I really hope that's happening. We'll see :yay:

I don't think WB knows what it wants anymore. Should of just stuck with making a really awesome MoS2 with just Superman and then worry about the other heroes. Now MoS2 becomes Justice League?

The thing is, WB announced the move before filming even started, and they delayed it by a matter of weeks (about 1.5 months if you want to get technical). If the two-films-at-once thing doesn't pan out, then it's likely script- and/or casting-related.

And with studios these days, release dates are constantly in flux. It's entirely possible that this movie could move back in 2015 (emphasis on could), but wouldn't be a summer release anymore. Let's say if Disney delays Episode VII to 2016... I could see WB moving it into the December 18, 2015 spot. Or March or April 2016.

And for those who think the movie would bomb in March or April... think again. It's an established property, in a slower off-peak month... it'd clean up big time. Better legs too if the WOM is good.

Very sad news to see on a Sunday of all days, oh well, if its to make the movie better and not make it seem rushed I think it will be a good decision in the end.

I did think just a 2 year gap between MOS and BvS was a bit short so fingers crossed they have done it just to make the best movie they can.

You need a lot more time to develop a Justice League movie than two years time. Had nothing to do with an Affleck injury. They clearly needed more time.

That's why they couldn't make summer 2015 for Star Wars.

Teenage mutant ninja turtles was originally lined up for december 2013, it happens all the time.
I think it means we wont see a pic of the batfleck suit until may or june though

It better be worth the wait of ten months. I wanted to see the new batsuit

Thoughts:

-Two years was not 'rushing it'. Spider-Man1/2, Thor 1/2, Iron Man1/2, TASM1/2 all had two years between movies. Snyder also makes a movie every two years. So clearly something changed along the way.

-Perhaps they want to film BvsS/Justice League together (for 2016/7), which I'm fine with.

-Perhaps they're changing 'this' film into Justice League, in which they'd need more production time (new script, casting, etc), which I'm totally fine with (although the lack of foresight from WB is frustrating).

-Perhaps Terrio thought the script was crap, in which a rewrite is a good thing.
(I wish Marvel did this with...pretty much all their movies... save Iron Man 1)

-In 2015, when we have a major blockbuster every week, and when we're working three jobs to pay for all the tickets, I doubt we're going to care.

-Plus, this means more time for Gal Gadot to possibly get 'yoked', if you care about that kind of thing.

the break in 2015 that BvS left will give me time to go home from the theater and shower.
