I'm honestly a bit nervous though. Between Thanos looking unmistakably CG, and Apocalypse looking like fancy cosplay, live-action Darkseid needs to knock it out the park.

I kinda like the Apocalypse's look, for what it is.

Well, I never had a real problem with the first images we got, to begin with. And the recent changes, whether they're owed to an alternate light source or a vibrancy filter, make for a subtle but very effective enhancement. Sometimes the simplest of alterations can make all the difference.
