I hate to bring it up but there was that time during Sacrifice that Superman beat the snot out of Batman and that was when superman wasnt holding back and Batman DIDNT die, it could be that the Superman of today is not as powerful as you say Shadowboxer, just trying to give my side a fighting chance here. Not trying to attack you.

Oh I know i remember it and such, it was a bad story. lol What im saying though is that even though he was under mind control he was still letting lose, all the barriers he had set up to keep him from killing were torn down. He was a loose canon til Max's neck was snapped. Yet Batman still managed to survive so that could pose the argument that Superman just isnt as strong as he used to be, therefore giving Bats a fighting chance maybe.

He however did toss Batman around like a rag doll and choked the living mess out of him (hint the finger prints) and he did burn him with heat vision (hint the third degree burns on Batman's chest) but he never punched him. He did not punch Batman the whole fight is shown in the book when the JLA where looking at the footage. What he did punch is the JLA canons that Batman managed to turn on to which Manhunter said "Saved his (Batman) life." He also was fighting Wonder Woman during that time as well because Wonder Woman came to help out Bruce. And to answer your question on why Batman isn't dead they had a purple or something they used on Bruce to stable him or he would have died. And a real fight between Batman and Superman with Superman holding back is shown in Lex Luthor: Man of Steel #3. That is how a real fight between the two would go.

Superman decides when Batman beats him or better put...survives, even Batman admits as much...saying, "if he really wanted to he could kill me".

I mean, it all depends on the writer. Anyone could write a comic where Superman beats Batman to within an inch of his life the same way anyone could write a comic where Batman develops an intricate kryptonite based trap to kill Superman. You need to realize that this isn't an argument about exactly what has happened in accepted DC canon, and more an argument about the possibilities.

There's a reason the thread is called "who would win" instead of "who has won."

Superboy is not nearly as powerful as Superman. Not even in the same league. He is also a telekinetic, not a nigh-invulernable Kryptonian.

I don't hate Batman (I'd hardly buy his comics if I did)
, I just know more about comics than you do and have realistic non-fanboy driven expectations of the characters. Cyclops is my favorite X-Men, but I don't go blabbing about how he can beat Galactus...that would just be silly.
