Batman: Year One

I don't recall everyone loving his casting in Gotham Knight...

... People hated him in GK? Seriously?

Thats like saying no one but Olan Soule should have voiced Batman and have been cast in Batman: The Animated Series...

No, I never said no one should play Batman other than Conroy, I'm just saying they should give him some good scripts. No more Apocalypse/Gotham Knight crap. I want them to recapture Mask of the Phantasm's magic.

Also, I hate how Andrea always says, "Of course we couldn't have done this without Kevin!" in one film, then she goes and says, "Oh, I couldn't have imagined this without Bruce!" in another.

We've got over 100 episodes of a Conroy-voiced Batman.

Get. Over. It. :o

dude, he had 15 yrs worth of good scripts. he's not trying to leave his mar on batman, it's already there. he can and should retire his batman outside of the arkham games. hamil did it for the joker, and he's left just as big a mark if not bigger on that character than conroy has on batman

Bryan Cranston as Gordon is absolutely outstanding.

We'll see how McKenzie does as Bruce. It makes sense given this is a younger character, hopefully he can find a voice that works.

I've checked out some interviews he has done on youtube and his voice is pretty spot on as a young Bruce Wayne.

I agree. I love Kevin's Batman voice as much as the next Batman fan, but I also would like some variety in the Batman voices once in a while.

I really enjoyed Bruce Greenwood's performance in Under the Red Hood.

Just because Hamill has, doesn't mean Kevin should. He's on top of his game, why would be retire? His voice gets better with age.

Yep... Conroy is a legend in the Bat-mythos. Isn't that enough?

We have at least 16 years worth of solid, A+ Conroy Bats. Like I said we should be lucky we get him in the games alone.

His Batman is finished... Don't tarnish it. Just enjoy what he does get from now on, such as guest spots and such.

I love him and always will... I don't think anything can remove him as my fav Batman spot. But lifes a *****... and you simply have to move on.

Enjoy new talent as well. They may just surprise you. :yay:

no he's not. he was at the top of his game 10 years ago.

Actually, as much as I love Conroy (and I do, he has defined the voice for me), I don't think he's as good as he used to be. The beginning of TAS, for example, he had a greater range with it, alternating between Bruce and Batman (he also voice Thomas Wayne in one episode). There was more grit to the voice back then.

Yeah he peaked with Justice League...

But damn I love his gruffer voice in the B:TAS days. It sounded a little soft or normal in Arkham Asylum.

I think he needs Bruce Timm to pull that gruff quality out of him.

I agree, which is why I kinda think he would work best as Wayne/Batman in the Dark Knight Returns animated movie that they are working on.

... Uh, since when was his career over? You sound as if he said he's not playing Batman anymore. He just did DCUO and working on BAC + whatever new Batman/Superman movie comes out.

no he's not. he was at the top of his game 10 years ago.

I disagree. He has a new gruff quality with his age. It's smooth but sharp at the same time. I love it.

I've never disliked a performance Kevin has given, but I think his new work (Public Enemies, Apocalypse, etc) sounds much better than he did in TAS. But, my favourite character he's ever played is still Old Bruce. Now THAT would be a perfect Frank Miller TDKR Batman voice.

I mean in terms of HIS Batman... or the Bruce Timm/DCAU Batman.

That is DONE!

Everything else is just icing on the cake or fan service. Hey i'm not complaining... but some Batman projects need to stand on their own and have their own identity.

If we hear Conroy in this... people will be asking for Bob Hastings and Efren Zimbalist. Best to start from fresh for Year One.

I agree, going with someone else for Year One may be a smart decision, but I want Kevin in another adapted movie. Not just Superman/Batman stuff. Maybe TDKR, TKJ, TLH, etc.

YES!!

The Killing Joke... with Hamill and Conroy :hrt:

Don't you dare retire before it Hamill. But then he has been retiring from The Joker for years. :yay:

The only 'newbie' Batman that's bothered me is William Baldwin, and even that barely did. The character is meant to be reinterpreted, and to limit it solely to Conroy would risk running his interpretation dry.

This McKenzie guy sounds suitably mature and gruff enough to portray a 25 year old Bruce Wayne, so I'm fairly happy with the casting.

Well that bothered me because it SHOULD have been Conroy in that movie and the entire DCAU cast...

:o

I don't the general public would have known or cared.

That would be a dream come true. :)

I never said Conroy should be the only Batman.

i like that alex rocco is playing falcone
always liked his work on the simpsons as roger myers :D

If it was up to me, Conroy and Hamil would voice Bats and Joker in all future animated movies, video games, and motion comics till kingdom come.

But that's just me. :)

Count me in on that! :)

Although I'd sprinkle in some Michael Ironside and Rino Romano every once and a while.
