Batman: Year One

I can't promise you will like it mate. But the source material has the ingredients to make an really cool film :). We will just have to wait and see what they manage to do from it.

But if there is more than Gordon than Batman in this one.....then i'll pass.

Why call it Batman: Year One at all??

To be fair, the story mostly deals with Gordon, but it's his POV of how Batman's arrival in Gotham affects the city for the better. It deals alot with Batman in one way or another and has several cool scenes in it that directly shows Bruce Wayne's transformation aswell. ;)

i hope it's set in the same world as year one yo flesh her character out a little bit more

Bruce Timm confirms Catwoman Short for Batman: Year One... That will probably be the very last Short they ever make, which is a shame since the Jonah Hex and Green Arrow one we're actually better than some of the actual movies lol.

Seriously? What was WB expecting with Superman/Shazam? Who is going to buy a bunch of short films that have already been released? I dont see the problem with keeping them as part of the movies but not collecting them into anything. They already lack enough on the special features.

I wanted more shorts. :( I always looked forward to them. They were really the highlights to me for some of the animated films.

And I wanted a Lobo/Booster Gold short. :( They were planning on those.

I did, I mean the only movie I bought was Batman: Under the Red Hood and that was the single disc version, so having a DVD that collects all the shorts into one place was nice.

Producing these shorts does cost money, so releasing the Superman/Shazam DVD was a way to recoup some of the money and to see if there really is a market for these shorts.

why buy the shorts? they come out on netflix streaming pretty fast

Well, you buy them because you like them and want to see more shorts, or at least that's what I do...

Guess too many people streamed/downloaded it.

or already owned most of the content and couldn't justify a $20 purchase for 1 new short

I actually don't like the "collection of shorts" idea... I think that's why I didn't care for Batman: Gotham Knight, or whatever it was called...

I don't think it's worth the price to buy a collection of super short, simple-as-all-hell plotted stories...

YES! Was hoping for a Catwoman short! Between her being in Year One, her own short attached to Year One, and The Dark Knight Rises she is finally getting the recognition she deserves!!!

Maybe the short will be based on WHEN IN ROME?!!! That would be so amazing.

Having said that, it really sux it's gonna be the last one but I can understand the studio needing to stop. Even film studios are feeling the economy right now and they aren't making any additional money off of the shorts and yet they're sinking more money into these movies for the production of the shorts. We're very lucky we ever got them in the first place.

But if it is their last, then at least they're going out on a good one.

Well if reports are to be believed... and they seemed true for the other shorts, here is the synopsis to Catwoman...

CATWOMAN - When Catwoman comes to the rescue of a cat being shot at by thugs, a ribbon tied to the cat's collar becomes a clue that leads her into Gotham's salacious underworld. There Catwoman uncovers an international slavery ring, which she has to bring down to save its victims, including the cat's owner. Written by famed Batman scribe Paul Dini. Rated PG-13.

Is it the same short that they'll attach to Year One? Its always a possibility.

Oh man... a Lobo/Booster Gold SHort would be awesome!

Did anyone see the Spectre short? I thought it turned out pretty good in the end!

This is a dream come true.

The voice cast was announced. Ben Mckenzie is young Bruce Wayne/Batman!

Dammit Mike I was just about to post
Heat Vision reports that Bryan Cranston, Ben McKenzie, Eliza Dushku and Katee Sackhoff will provide their voices for Batman: Year One, the animated adaptation of the Frank Miller classic from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu are directing from a script by Tab Murphy. The trade describes the film as follows:

In Year One, a young Bruce Wayne is first starting out as a costumed vigilante. He creates an early bond with Lieutenant James Gordon, whose importance in the tale makes it as much as Gordon's story as Wayne's.

Cranston is playing Gordon, while McKenzie is Wayne/Batman. Dushku voices Catwoman, while Sackhoff is Detective Sarah Essen, a Gordon love interest.

Additionally, Alex Rocco lends his pipes as crime lord Carmine Falcone.
