Batman: Year One

Anybody get the catwoman figurine that comes with the blu-ray if so how big is it?

Is the 2-disc DVD worth it?
I'm interested in the "Heart of Vengeance" special feature.

Just watched it. I liked it, though I don't think the comic story lends itself to film all that well. At least, the way it's told. So, it was loyal to a fault for me. I pretty much ended up feeling the same way as I did with the comic.

I liked McKenzie and how he was rough at first, but tried to fix it up later. What I loved about his Bruce is how he sounded like a stereotypical snobby rich guy who happens to be a player.

"From this moment on, none of you is safe." - Back of DVD cover
"From this moment on, none of you are safe." - Actual spoken dialogue
Which is correct?

Solid stuff; as good as Under the Red Hood.

Incidentally, I loved the song during the end credits. Somebody should rip that.

New Rankings;

1. Phantasm
2. Year One
3. Red Hood
4. Return of The Joker
5. Gotham Knight
6. Sub Zero

7. Mystery of the Batwoman

I can't wait for the animated version of The Dark Knight Returns by this awesome crew!!...

Though it better have Hamill, Conroy and be a two part rared R DC animated film. :word:

I doubt it will be R rated. They had to cut some stuff out of Year One to keep it PG-13.

Hammills done. He even tweeted it.

Michael Ironside for Batman!! Like they did in that BTAS short story episode.

Bruce Timm has been hinting at a R rated animated film to direct for a while now.

At the 4:20 mark

Hopefully TDKR will turn out to be it.

I hope he changes his mind for the grand daddy of them all, TDKR.

Here's my review:

Batman Year One is the most accurate comic book film to ever be made as it is a film that hits all the right notes, missing very few beats from its original source material. Ben Mackenzie's Batman is very well done given the source material. The rest of the voice cast shines through particularly well also. The plot is lifted directly from the 4 issue comic arc and the animation is the best adaptation from an artists work we have seen yet. The animation and the overall production design so realistically comes off the page that it is almost like viewing a motion comic. My only complaint is that it runs just over an hour. For the sake of entertainment value, I wouldn't have minded if they added their own subplots to give us a longer film.

9.5 out of 10 (loses .5 for length)

The Best animated comic book material since Max Fleischer's Superman

I really want this team to handle The Man Who Laughs and TLH, now...

Also, this convo with Michael Uslan, Scott Snyder, DENNY!, and Dan DiDio is very intriguing.

I can really see Scott (with his current line and his TEC run) could become the new Rucka/Miller/O'Neil.

This was awesome and the Catwoman short was so ****ing sexy like MY God Selinas strip tease was so damn sexy. 5/5.

I like the comics but this movie... well, that was nothing. "Year One" doesn't really translate into a good movie. Too much voice-over, no real storyline. And the voice work was rather disappointing. Might as well just have turned this into a motion comic.

I give this 5/10 at most.

Did anyone else order the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital copy pack from amazon?
I only got a single disc bluray and now their site no longer has the combo pack listed. Does that pack even exist?

This coming from a guy who prefers Birthright to John Byrne's MOS origin.

I liked it very much!! The best animated Batman film so far, and like Sin City, and 300, a perfect adaptation of a Frank Miller project.

Bring on "The Dark Knight Returns" and "The Long Halloween"!!
