Is it hard to pick up momentum when you are starting from none?

Um......yeah. It is.

This movie has a few huge obstacles, namely Kung Fu Panda and Get Smart.

Neither film is targeting the same audience. Of course they both affect Hulk's box office in the long run, but they're appealing to three very different markets.

The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, Iron Man

That's what i thought and think it was going to be.

I don't care how much it made. Making money doesn't equal quality. :whatever:

Glad you think so, because no matter how much money Iron Man has made, I still didn't like it as much as Transformers.

Which is why I also believe that **IF** TDK doesn't make as much money as Iron Man, it will still be the better film anyway.

Will The Incredible Hulk Defeat Iron Man?
Written on June 4, 2008 by Vic Holtreman

We just received some surprising information from MovieTickets.com regarding The Incredible Hulk movie which opens a week from this Friday on June 13th. It seems that according to their tracking, Hulk may actually end up with even better opening weekend box office numbers than Iron Man, which by all accounts knocked it out of the park with its close to $100 million opening.

They collect data during the movie ticket purchase process including a "buzz factor" (OK, the real name is "Aided Awareness" but that's boring). They say that buzz factor score for Iron Man was 36%... and for The Incredible Hulk, it's currently at 49%! So fully one third more people are aware there's a new Hulk movie coming out than knew about Iron Man, even with it's uber-marketing campaign. That's quite a change from just a month ago where it seemed like every person I talked to who didn't follow movie websites said "There's a new 'Hulk' movie coming out?"

So the question is whether that will translate into big opening weekend box office numbers for The Incredible Hulk. Could a third higher awareness of the film translate to a third more dollars at movie theaters? Not necessarily, but if it does, that means that our big green friend could be looking at a $130 million opening weekend! That would be a helluva shocker, but awesome news for Marvel Studios...

I'm wondering if the success of Iron Man is actually helping to boost the buzz on Hulk. People saw how awesome that movie was and now they're thinking Marvel might be able to go two for two.

The Incredible Hulk opens on June 13, 2008.

And tracking for TDK is what -- 90%?
LMAOOOO :D

TIH would have to do more than double the first film to compete with Bats and Stark. I sincerely doubt that's gonna happen.

Iron Man? I'd ****ing eat him for breakfast.

That's fine. I'm not going to jump on you because it is your opinion after all.

Agreed. I have no doubts that TDK will be better than Iron Man.

Well if i remember correctly there was a interview a while back that said the dark knight movie buzz was around 51% or higher when Heath died and juddging by the buzz it continues to receave this movie will make huge numbers I mean look at Indy that movie was average at best only had a big name to carry it TDK has two big names and is shapping up to be a epic movie now if WB is smart there going to hook trailers with Hulk, Hancock, Wanted & Hell Boy and anything else they can get there hands on get smart, love guru, zohan ect. TDK can very well be the biggest grossing movie this year

cause trust me in the house hold it isnt just the boys talking bout tdk its the girls the parents the uncles TDK buzz level is over 9000 :hehe:

The Dark Knight, Iron Man, then The Incredible Hulk

I'm sure most will disagree on this topic but I feel it's worth noting.

Does anyone else think the name of the movie may hurt because it doesn't have "Batman" in the title?

I've had conversations with non-Batman fans and I've brought up The Dark Knight and they have no clue that it's a Batman flick. Some thought it was some medieval thing.

I'm sure come July, everyone will know it's the new Batman movie, but it's still frustrating to say "I can't wait for TDK." and have people say "What is TDK? Some movie about the dark ages?"

This had been discussed and argued the moment it became official.

I think by now enough people have seen the trailers, TV spots and posters to know it's a new Batman film.

by now, people should know that it's batman. if not, they will know.

I'm gonna stick by my list for this year's BO superhero movie order.

1. Iron Man
2. HULK
3. TDK

The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk

Hulk has enough competition with Wall-E :)

To say that TIH will make more than TDK is completely insane. TIH is still confused to be a sequel of the original. TDK has momentum behind it... It will wipe out Iron Man and Hulk

^You will eat those words you will see. The Box office will show ya. :joker:

We need to start seeing more of these commercials with some frequency. More people realizing TDK is a new Batman flick, the better.

I wonder how this viral marketing strategy will help, it's going to be difficult to gauge how effective it'll have been.

Personally, I think TDK will blow away Iron Man and Hulk, but that's mostly due to the added hype for this movie, and the fact that it's Heath Ledger's farewell movie.

What concerns me is the fact that it comes out so late in the summer (although I realize it has little competition beyond July 18th).

I wonder how much more the hype machine will be increased over the next month.

^It has huuuuuuge competition after the 18th. It has to compete against the latest Mummy movie and the X Files and the Will Farrell Comedy Step Brothers.
