Everyone who went to go see Iron Man are going to go see TDK anyway. Same goes for The Incredible Hulk.

Thanx for avoiding my question 3 times btw, Explode7.

:D

Its still gonna make more.:bh:

In your wet dream, it will. But reality say it won't. Just keep telling yourself, Marvel Boy. :whatever:

^Well if that doesn't happen at least Iron Man will best it for sure.

Best it for sure based on what? Again, that is wishful thinking on your part. You think just because if IM make more than TDK, it mean IM is better? If that is true, then I guess Batman & Robin is better than Hellboy since it made more. You were saying? :p

Based on the fact that Marvel made it. :whatever:

Baaahahaha!
Loved the comparison ;)

Everything I've seen from The Dark Knight is already 10X better than Iron Man!
OHHHH NOOOOESSSS OMGZZ!!11

:D

Opening Day ticket sales :

The Incedible Hulk = $21,030,000

The Happening = $12,800,000

Leave Hulk Alone
>:]
he had to go up against the Happening after all :hehe:

To be fair I just watched it and actually thought it was very good. I'm not trying to bash Hulk just the idiots who thought it would beat out Iron-man or TDK

I'd have to peg the opening weekend at around $90-100 million. And considering that would be about a 200% increase from Begins' opening, Bat fans shouldn't freak out if this doesn't "blow away" Iron Man's opening.

That's got to be the most rational, realistic and well thought out prediction so far. I swear most of the people on this board either go way under or way over.

I'm thinking about the same around 85M - 100M

lol I know what you mean
I thought the movie was good they should of waited a month or two to finish up the CGI work cause there where moments that it looked bleh and they should of gotten a better betty imo

Batman's Competition in 2008? Ummm..... The Joker :hoboj:.

No in all seriousness I honestly feel that 'The Dark Knight' will have hardly any competition this year. In fact the only movie that I think will come close is one that nobody here has considered yet.

'Iron Man' :im:was great and it made alot of money but it is grinding to a hault domestically and overseas the numbers weren't uber-impressive (though still good). Iron Man is probably gonna bow out with a final domestic gross of just barely above $300 million, and a final world-wide gross of maybe $600 million. Of course if something happens, like if Marvel re-releases it in IMAX or something, the final may shoot up another $10-$15 million (similar to Transformers last year).

'Indiana Jones 4' :indy:, the movie the "experts" were picking to be the runaway victor in 08', made tons of money out the gate but did not show the same marathon skills that 'Iron Man' showed. Currently it has been falling fast in the Domestic Box Office and at this rate $300 million may be out of the question . Overseas the film is enjoying much better numbers. The Spielberg factor has driven this movie to great hieghts overseas, and it seems as if this movie may end up making around $655 to $680 million overall world-wide. Very impressive but far short of what it takes to rule the year.

'The Incredible Hulk' :bh: was never really any sort of competition. Why people expected this movie to even have a chance of hanging with th big boys is beyond me. This is not to say that it is a bad movie though. 'The Incredible Hulk' may very well be a great movie (I dont know I haven't seen it yet) but it never really stood a chance at a huge blockbuster because of... well.... because of Ang Lee really. Audiences were severely turned of the idea of Hulk movie, and while us savy fans knew it was entire new story, many in the general public viewed it as a sequal to Ang Lee's. Currently this movie stands to have a $60 million opening weekend, and with positive word of mouth this may kick its final Domestic gross to around $180 million. Not great, but better than Marvel could've hoped for considering the Ang Lee disaster. No numbers have come in yet from overseas, and I dare not venture a guess because the overseas turnout can be very upredictable.

The other big hitter that has been tossed around is 'Hancock'. Some people feel that the July 4th and Will Smith combination will equal box-office gold. While that still remains to be seen, I just don't see it happening. Not that I have anything against the film, or Will Smith, but I just don't hear much anticipation for it. Hey I may be wrong though. I mean it does come out when there's pretty much no other competition. Still I just think the movie looks too corny. I have a feeling its not as good as advertised.

'Hellboy 2': While I loved Hellboy and really want to see this one, I'm guessing it doesn't have a huge following yet.

All these movies will have great box-office (I feel) and they will definately make for a kick ass summer, but they are not making, or do not stand to make the huge box-office numbers that it will take to be the year's number one.

There is one movie that I feel will be the biggest competition for The Dark Knight, and many of you may think I'm crazy when I say this, but I think Wall*E is going to be huge at the box office. :ikyn For one thing this is a Pixar movie and Pixar movies always have big numbers. Another thing is that it really has no more competition because Kung Fu Panda is already released and will be a non-factor come June 27th. Also Wall*E looks like it may be Pixar's best movie yet. The unbelievable animation and incredibily artistic images are already wowing people. Throw in a pretty creative story and you have a recipe for success. Another thing, Wall*E is a family movie, literally a family movie -Not a family film like Hancock is family film, or Transformers was a family film - Wall*E is truely suitible for all audiences, and I cant understate what a huge factor that is. Imagine all the guys that went to see Iron Man, or Indy 4 but didn't take the little ones or their wives because they thought it was too violent, or too uninteresting for them (wives!). Now imagine if those dads had gone with mom, and all the kids (not just the older ones) and they all bought tickets. You see where I'm getting at here. I truely think Wall*E has the potential to be a huge, not just here but World Wide too. It uses a universal laguage (little or no words - just expressions) that pretty much anyone can understand (even todlers) and it deals with the World Wide topics like the Future and outer space. Expect Wall*E to be HUGE!

All that being said I still don't think it will best 'The Dark Knight' this year, but it may. If the The Dark Knight happens to not live up to the expectations for some reason then I predict that Wall*E will take the number 1 spot. Of course if Wall*E doesn't live up to expectations then that changes too . But since we're dealing with two amzing movies that most likely will deliver on all aspects then I expect them to be the #1 and #2 for the year.

Oh I realize that I never really said my prediction was for those two so here goes.

Wall*E will have a big OW but not huge. I say $100 million (LOL these days that qualifies as not huge). Then the families will tell other families and it will have amazing success in the following weeks. When its all said and done Wall*E's marathon abilities will land it at $400 million Domestically and $1 billion World Wide. (I know, I know, I'm insane right)

(Well wait till' you hear this one then)
The Dark Knight will have a huge OW. Huge! Far bigger than anyone is expecting. I believe that the hype and anticipation that this movie has built up will produce the biggest Opening Weekend of All Time. How big? $200 million is my prediction:wow: (and yes that's U.S. only). From there its superior story, revolutionary IMAX resolution, tremendous word of mouth, and iconic final performance from Heath will lead it to huge marathon success (not unlike Wall*E). When its all said and done The Dark Knight will be huge both domestically and world wide. I predict a $600 million domestic gross, and a $1.4 billion final world-wide total. :ikyn Making this movie the closest ever to sinking the 'Titanic'.

(Here's hoping that I underestimated that total and that it finally does sink that boring-ass love crapfest that we call a movie. $1.8 billion are you kidding me? Were there really that many dudes trying to get laid in 1997?)

Oh by the way if you notice I only included movies from this summer. Movies like Harry Potter and Quantam Solice that come out in the winter were left out. I figure since they come out so late some of their box-office revenue will roll-over in 2009 and that will make their 2008 total less. Although those Winter movies technically should have been included... Oh well.

Glad I'm not the only one that noticed that.

He's not fooling anyone...Raging Marvel fanboy.
