I'm betting this makes as much, or more than SM3, just look at the advanced screenings.

Meh out of everyone who has gotten an early screening your the only one so far I've heard this from. The worst I saw before you was someone saying it was Ok but not all that good. Calling it horrible though I think shows your bias. Most people already knew Wanted was going to suck and with the reviews coming in now it's pretty well publicized that it's a stinker. Hancock is getting some good buzz and the reviewers who can look beyond the one major crude moment are giving it some decent reviews. I personally enjoyed it I found it funny with some pretty decent action.

You are incredible.

I have heard a lot of "its horrible" reviews from Hancock early screenings - and from people that don't wave a Batman flag either. I will probably still see it since I am a **** for Will Smith - but I am not expecting much.

I actually enjoyed Wanted, pretty cool action.

Well seems like TDK is a shoe in for 100 mil now
but can it go up agiasnt Spidey and Jack

as for Wanted it was an alright movie extreamly predicatble I mean wtf the guy lives right next door to you if he wanted to kill you he would have while you where sleeping the rest even right down to the rats was like saw that coming a mile away
the acting was actually pretty good though so it carried the movie around & the fights are nothing special this movie just really comes off as a wanna be Matrix to me

as for Hancock so far the critics arnt liking it but then again theres only been 15 reviews

But as things are going the best summer movie has been Wall-e lol i know Wall-e

Meh I wouldn't declare people dead wrong just yet. I mean yea sure ok call them dead wrong if they say less than 235 or something but lets be honest there is no 'for sure' of 300M yet. I'm willing to bet on the fact that TDK will beat out hancock , but I'm still iffy about it beating Iron man. I want TDK to take out Iron Man but still not sure we will see that happen.

Has a movie that has opened at 100 Mil ever made less than 300 Mil?

So far not good for one of my predictions from earlier in the month.

I predicted $100 mil OW for Wall*E. Man I couldn't have been more wrong. $63 million is what early estimates put it at. On the bright side the quality of the movie was better than I ever expected. Critics love it and I'm sure audiences will too. Expect that movie to have nice staying power and make a final domestic gross in the low $300 millions. Overseas Pixar always does amazingly way better than domestically (ie Ratatoullie) so I expect a final worldwide gross of $750 million (far less than my original guess of $1 billion).

As far as my TDK prediction of a $200 million OW, so far things are looking good. Along with increasing marketing and buzz, there are reports that pre-sales for TDK are 8x more than Spider-Man 3 on some sites. TDK is selling out three weeks ahead of time. On Monday Sportscenter will be sponsered by TDK, and that show re-airs like 20 times a day. Imagine all the people that will end up seeing the TDK advertising. In addition Hancock is getting bad reviews (so far). Hellboy II: well I love Guillermo DelToro but I think Hellboy just doesn't have the fans to make it a HUGE blockbuster (not that it's anything bad). It looks like moviegoers will be in high anticipation by the time July 18th comes around. For now we'll just wait and see.

Show me at least two please I dare you to show me. Do you even know the difference between not very good and Horrible? I have seen 16 Reviews so far and not one of them says "horrible". There are about six that range from Really fun to Very good. About 8 come along sounding like they think it's not very good but watchable and Two that think it's bad but can still find a positive thing to say. Not one of them has can as far as to make it sound like they think the film is Horrible. That's a very strong word and not one critic has come close to saying it.

Has a movie that hasn't even opened ever made 100M ? We don't even know if it's made 100M yet and your already declaring that it has.

Oh and actually yes movies have made 100Million opening weekend and fell short of 300M total.

XMen 3
Matrix Reloaded
Harry Potter and the Goblet Of fire.

There may be more but those three come to mind. X3 not only made 100M opening but fell short of making 250M even didn't even get 240M

Yeah, only 10 films in history have made $100 million or more opening weekend, and it is only those three that fell short of $300 million (Indy 4 hasn't made it yet, but it will either by this weekend or probably Monday).

haha, I almost forgot that there was a new Indy movie, LOL..........

To be fair, X3 had bad word of mouth as far as I can recall, and The Matrix Reloaded, well...People don't feel like it lived up to the original. Plus Reloaded was an R rated movie, wasn't it? That diminishes your audience quite a bit.

haha, I almost forgot that there was a new Indy movie, LOL..........
Yeah, I know... It was pretty forgettable.

Oh well, here are my stab-in-the-dark predictions for the weekend of July 18:
1. The Dark Knight (1) - $107 million
2. Hellboy II (2) - $19 million
3. Wall-E (4) - $17.5 million
4. Mamma Mia (1) - $16 million
5. Hancock (3) - $12.5 million
6. Space Chimps (1) - $8 million
7. Meet Dave (2) - $4.5 million
8. Wanted (4) - $3.5 million
9. Get Smart (5) - $2 million
10. Kung Fu Panda (7) - $1.5 million

X-3 sucked massive testicles, and Matrix Reloaded actually only had a $91 million Opening Weekend.

Bizarre, isn't it? I was sure that it was going to be the Cortez of Summer, but is turned out to be an anachronistic irrelevance.

Thats because it was a bad movie.

I agree but he didn't ask if they were good he just asked if a movie had ever made 100M ow and not 300M total. The answer was yes further hurting his point. I'm sure he will come back criticizing how it's only three movies or something like that but the fact is yes it has happened. Also once again I state TDK is still not a lock on 100M OW. It's possible, but not a lock. I'm still thinking right around 80M. Hope I'm wrong.

Don't get me wrong here I am in no way a fan of Indy never have been never will be. However people continue to talk about it's box office in a negative way or say that Iron Man is going to be number one for the year. Yet most people still ignore the fact that on a day by day basis Indy is HIgher than Iron Man. On Sunday will be day 39 for INdy and it will be 10M higher than Iron Man was on day 39.

True. BTW, Matrix Reloaded only made 91 Mill OW.

I say 100 million opening weekend.

And from all the amazing reviews and ticket sell outs, I think it'll make 300 million at the highest

I actually wasn't making a "point" so much with that question so much as...well asking a question.

If you would prefer, instead of the word "lock" for TDK's eventual 100+ Mil weekend I could use the word "probable". Would you prefer that?

You can use what ever word you want just wanted to you to know that by using the word Lock it made your argument less valid and made you look like just a crazy fanboy. Probable makes it seem like your using a little more logic and know that it's possible that it may not make it.

I think its obvious that "lock" is hyperbole, but so is any guarantee.

If my guarantee was based purely on even mostly on my own thoughts on the film - you would be right, I would seem to be simply a crazy fanboy.

My guarantee is, however, based purely and solely on logic and the box office news about this movie. For you to predict 80 Mil is to look in the face of all the positive reports, all the data and basically state "its wrong, my guess is right" - which is why it is easy for you to be perceived (by some, not myself) as simply a "hater".

This is why I don't get when I am dismissed as a "fan boy" when I can guarantee you that I can always provide more data and reports supporting my claims than those that say I am being too positive.

Meh I pointed out many many logical reasons for my GUESS, but it was ignored and people only look at the guess so whatever. At the end of the day though that's what it is a Guess that's what we are doing here. Maybe I'll be right and it will be around 80M maybe you will be right and it will be around 100M or hell maybe it will break the SM3 record and make far more then anyone has guessed. I just try to ground my guess in logic and keep my guesses away from any sort of Extreme.

Believe me if TDK makes 100M I'll be very happy if it makes 120M or higher i'll be as giddy as a school girl. This is one that I actually hope that I'm wrong on.

I think Hancock will have a big opening cuz of Will Smith´s clout and then sink like a rock. This movie has Wild Wild West stench all over it.
