BvS Batman's fighting style - new Batman, what should his fighting style be like ?

There needs to be that raw brutality like in Daredevil series, I find. If I have any complains about the way Daredevil fights, it is that it takes too much punches and kicks from him to finally bring down an opponent. While the fights are very well choreographed, sometimes it becomes distracting when he hits and kicks the same guy for the tenth time and the guy getting up, even though single punch like that would most probably bring him down.

Batman should be quick and efficient. Other than that, yeah, utilize eight limbs fighting style and break their bones.

Ha, Daredevil fighting style whilst cutting down how long it takes him to down a man would be great. I agree.

The point of the DD fights was to really, REALLY point out Matt's status as an underdog, as well as his NON bullet proof status as a hero. They went to great lengths to showcase how he was injured regularly and had to continue fighting despite it. I think that is a reason so many of the fights take the approach they do in the series.

Batman on screen is a different animal than what was done with DD, so I suspect Ben and the stunt team will approach accordingly.

You make a good point. Still, I don't think it is really all that different. When I refer to Daredevil fighting style sans too many punches being needed, I have in mind a more grounded, raw and brutal fighting style as opposed to flamboyant, too choreographed ones. Also, while an underdog, Daredevil's style in series is far from sloppy (those hits land right where they should), I'd argue that he is depicted more as "weak" than sloppy.

So what I have in mind is giving Batman that level of raw brutality and grounded street fighting feel, while making him stronger and more efficient, taking down most opponents with one or two punches. From what we've seen in the trailer, same as Bale, he utilizes eight limbs technique (as he should) - using punches, kicks, knees and elbows in a fight - which goes in line with being quick and efficient, as Muay Tai (from where the technique originates), is supposed to be. It is one of the more effective martial arts and as such is quite often utilized in MMA and that is what Batman should aim for - speed and efficiency, not stylish kicks.

Since this is inspired by TDKReturns, I would think the fighting style would be similar to the comics, which was put into motion like the animated films. If anyone's seen the film, he utilizes a more raw brutal style in his first fight against the mutant leader, however he got beat. In his second fight, he utilized a more efficient, pinpoint accurate type style, hitting weak spots and nerves to disable his opponent before going for the *kill*. I would want to see something like the second fight. We've already got enough grounded, raw, brutal type fighting from the Nolan series. I want to see something more akin to the second mutant leader fight and the style he uses in the Arkham games.

Oh, I never said that it should exclude strategically placed hits. When I say raw and brutal, I don't think like a beast gone berserk.

Putting on my Martial Arts nerd glasses: HEK (Headbutts, elbows and knees) techniques aren't found only in Muay Thai, but are a signature of many South East Asian and many modern gestalt forms of martial arts. Muay Boran, a pre-sport form of Muay Thai as well as Bando from Burma and my own beloved Filipino Martial Arts (Kali Silat/Panantukan) use them extensively as well and in a fashion more suited for street fighting, including things like joint breaking and manipulations, eye gouging, the aforementioned head butts, biting and even spitting believe it or not.

But I understand your point.

Ah, I believed that technique originated with Muay Thai. You learn something new every day. Appreciate the info.

And apparently, Batman is aware of this more street-like approach:

Hey, Bruce uses what ever works. Even Bruce Lee advocated the use of biting. ;)

Hey, I am not judging. Though I don't think that biting Superman could really count as something that "works". :woot:

Here is THE MAN himself putting it into perspective when it comes to fighting. Classic.

Dude was a straight up Jedi Master... With flaws like all people. :woot:

Ah, nice.

From one Bruce to another. :woot:

I watched the trailer frame by frame at a friend of mines house. About that quick scene of Batman fighting the thugs in what looks like a warehouse setting, it looked to me like Batman:

1. Grabbed a rifle out of a man's hand
2. Strikes the man standing to the left of the previous guy
3. Strikes a man standing in front of the previous 2 guys, all in VERY quick succession. That's what it looked like to me anyways.

Confucius say;

When Batman bite Superman, Batman gets teeth like Joker.

And he used a BvS elbowstrike. :woot:

Anyway, I didn't catch him grabbing a rifle, I'll rewatch the scene.

I thought he was holding his grapple gun

:awesome:

Yeah, it's hard to catch since he literally strikes three people in under two seconds. If you slow it down, you can see what I'm talking about. Although opon further examination, I may also be that Batman has his grapple gun in his right hand. Anyways, i can't wait until the movie gets here so we can see Batman fighting proper, instead of me analyzing 2 seconds of footage over and over like a madman. Lol

I loved the techniques from the Zod/Jor-El fight and what was done with Faora. I have full confidence Snyder's team will deliver an incredible Batman in action.

Wow ! I started this thread ages ago (nearly 2 years !) can't believe it's still getting posts !

Anyway, given the bulky look of Affleck's Batman, I doubt we'll be seeing a lot of flashy kicks.

What I would like to see is an integration of gadgets into Bats' fighting style, as well as dirty fighting (headbutts, groin kicks, actual arm breaks).

All the indications are good so far though !

Hell yeah! He really should be using some weapons along with his skill, so the gas pellets, flash bangs, grapple gun, Batarangs ect. should all be part of his fighting when he engages villains, especially multiple human opponents.

They should portray him more like a ninja. He's not a brawler or a boxer like Catman. He should already had taken his opponent out even before you know he's there. This also helps him protect his "myth" or "boogeyman" image with the "baddies" so the stealthier and quicker, the better overall.

After BvS I think his boogeyman days are over.

It seems this Batman, should be able to plan, and take out an opponent before he even knows he is in a fight, chooses not to.

This Batman seems to be enjoying his "work", as he has taken to branding bad guys.

Maybe he "likes" to hurt them at this point in his career, just like Joker. He is very close to becoming his enemy and needs redemption.

Alfred's words and tone to seem to indicate that he is scolding Bruce and trying to bring him back from the brink.

There was a line in Clint Eastwoods movie, "Every which way but loose", where he is all beaten and bloody and his brother asks why he doesnt just quit and he replies, " "because I think I like it too much". (Something like that)

In Patton, he says about war/ battle - " God help me, I do love it so"

They ride the razors edge between good and evil.

I remember that differently. Clint says he has to stop fighting, and explains that it is because he is beginning to enjoy it all too much.

I think you may be right that he says he should stop.

But he doesn't. :sly:
