Has anyone ever pre-ordered from Origin? I just want to make sure there haven't been negative experiences before I pre-order my copy of Mass Effect 3. Thanks!
EA CEO John Riccitiello has tipped his hat to publishing rival Activision for successfully introducing a subscription offering for the Call of Duty franchise - and hinted at the possibility of something similar in the pipeline for Battlefield.
While Call of Duty Elite wasn't specifically named during a chat with investors about digital strategies earlier this week, it's clear who the EA boss was referring to when he said (via Seeking Alpha): "When we look at what we do and what our competitors do, there are a number of examples of [what] I would call the best work of our industry in terms of making this work.
"Frankly, I gave a compliment to one of our competitors," he added. "It's got a subscription on the back end of an FPS title. I think that's a best-in-class performance.
"And we study all of these, and by way of example, when we put [FIFA] Ultimate Team out there, we had a competing idea with Madden, none of which I'm sure - none of whom I believe on the call would even know the name of it because it quickly faded and it was replaced with Ultimate Team because we're learning from best practice."
He continued: "So the reason this is such a fast-growing revenue stream for us is we're identifying and implementing best practice across the range of our products, and you'll see lots more to come including an announcement near term that Peter just alluded to."
The upcoming announcement Riccitiello was referring to? Just moments earlier, EA vice president of investor relations Peter Ausnit had said: "We've got plans for all of our major franchises to turn them into more of... games for service that have a constant flow of downloadable content. You're going to hear some announcements from us on Battlefield actually as early as next week in an event we've got in New York."

Oh god, we're going to keep getting content for games we love and enjoy. The horror.
Eh I don't really care. Iv got money to spend. If its a product I enjoy, like BF3, I'll keep handing them my money with no questions asked.
They will probably keep finding new ways to monopolize you more and more until you are.
Battlefield 3 players on the PS3 will be seeing a patch on February 6th, tomorrow, which will address the VoIP problems. But what else will the upcoming patches include for other platforms? On top of the recent announcement of the USAS-12 shotgun fix, other patch details have begun to surface.
Mortars in have always been a controversial feature in Battlefield 3. Fans have been pleading that players should be unable set up mortars while in their own spawn where they could quite easily be unreachable. DICE has recently stated that it “will be fixed in next patch.”
omgomgomg. Seriously, wow.
It always pisses me off when snipers take vehicles over engineers, but this man can do whatever the **** he wants.
Best part is seeing spawn beacons in your own deployment belonging to random smurf recons trying to go all Mark Walhberg.
Yes, it does. I land the heli all the time to repair if it's getting too hot.
Goddamn snipers, go jerk off in the deployment you bastards.
...I hate recons who don't PTFO. /rant.![]()

Any Recon who doesn't use a SOFLAM is worthless IMO(on maps that have vehicles of course). The Recon class can be such a vital part to a squad but damn do people not know how to use that class. I blame DICE to a degree. They should award more points for SOFLAM assists and spot assists.
