I am so excited for Troy. I've been looking forward to that since I first heard about it. Gunpowder also appears interesting.

I'd be interested in this take.

“Dracula” is getting the “Sherlock” treatment, with the writers and producers of the hit BBC detective series reuniting for a new take on the Bram Stoker vampire classic.

Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat will write the series, and Sue Vertue’s Hartswood Films will produce.
Work on the new series has yet to begin in earnest, as Gatiss and Moffat are currently working on solo projects. But talks are already underway with the BBC – which enjoyed huge success with “Sherlock” – on broadcast rights in the U.K.
“Dracula” will adopt the same format as “Sherlock,” with a miniseries run of feature-length episodes.
“Sherlock” propelled Benedict Cumberbatch to international stardom for his portrayal of Holmes. With scripts not yet written, casting for “Dracula” is some way off.
Alongside British producer Hartswood, U.S. and other international partners are expected to board the new project. BBC Worldwide, the pubcaster’s commercial arm, sells “Sherlock” internationally, and it has been one of the distributor’s biggest titles in recent years.

“Dracula” will be the first collaboration between Moffat and Gatiss since the last “Sherlock” episode aired in Britain in January. They have said there are no current plans for a new series of “Sherlock,” but have not ruled out returning to write more episodes in the future.
Moffat wrote and executive produced six seasons of the BBC’s “Doctor Who” before stepping down from the sci-fi series. Gatiss is an actor as well as a screenwriter, starring in “Game of Thrones” and numerous British series including “Sherlock” itself, in which he played Mycroft, Holmes’ brother. He has spoken in the past of his love of classic horror films, particularly the 1958 version of “Dracula” starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.
It is not yet clear whether, like “Sherlock,” “Dracula” will have a modern-day British setting. Stoker’s 1897 novel has the titular count attempt to move from Transylvania to England in his search for new blood.

It would interesting if they did a modern spin on Dracula like Sherlock.

I would like that. There have been a few tepid attempts at a "modern Dracula" over the years but none of them ever quite seemed to make it work.

I'm guessing they will indeed modernize it. The "period accurate" version that failed on NBC/Sky Living wasn't that long ago.

Teaser 2. Premiere's in the UK on October 21st.

Netflix greenlit two more seasons of Top Boy.

Top Boy wasn't a BBC show, it was a channel 4 show. Anyway I'm happy to see it is coming back if the rumors are true.

Seems like Drake's campaign to bring the show back worked.

I wonder if they will bring back Letitia Wright (Shuri in Marvel's upcoming Black Panther).

I watched the first episode of Gunpowder. The show is surprisingly explicit for a prime time BBC One show.

Wasn't expecting the gory torture scenes and full frontal nudity.

It's on after the watershed (9 pm) so its' fine. Also pretty good first episode and it wasn't fully frontal.

I don't have a issue with it. I was just surprised because bbc one period shows are mostly pretty vanilla.

That part in our history was pretty violent between Catholics and Protestant's at war. Also they were trying to blow-up Parliament and the King. You can't tone that down.

For our North American friends

I knew it would eventually air in US. Just didn't know where it would land. Of course HBO.

It's official now. http://www.comingsoon.net/tv/news/901657-top-boy-to-continue-with-new-episodes-on-netflix

Netflix saving the good shows Channel 4 like Top Boy and Black Mirror. If only they could bring back Utopia. Fincher's remake never made it off the ground but I would of like a continuation of the original series.

gosh no dedicated Dirk Gently thread on SHH? this show is wacky interesting hilarious :DV:

I really like Dirk Gently. Definitely a underrated show.

The trailer for the BBC's adaptation of the book McMafia is out

I love me some Dirk Gently. Unfortunately with my current show load, I can't usually get around to watching it until the On Demand expires, which I think is in February.
