Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 1

Hey I contend that some previous Batman's would run scared from Batfleck.

Whatever, hopefully he smashes a Parademon's face in.

I remember some reporter trying to ask a loaded question about Batman being more FUN in JL in the set visit, and Zack was like "Dude have you seen his Batmobile? He has even more weapons and a rocket launcher now".

Based Zack.

Black zero event happened in 2013

The Batman and Joker Harley/Chase scene was in 2014

BvS took place in October/November 2015

Source for this?? I don't remember seeing this specified anywhere; I was always under the impression that this happened either before the BZE or after Superman's death.

We saw that already, best fight scene ever for Batman in BvS. I laughed so much when he punched that one thug into the floor.
I'm just dying to see Joker get his teeth knocked out.

Wow. Ya'll just want a big guy in a batsuit hitting people, don't you?

Maybe that's why there's such a disconnect between us.

I want the world's greatest detective, who recognises the value of psychological warfare, is a master of his environment, can defeat any opponent with surgical precision, and seeks to bring the guilty to justice. You know... Batman.

But I'm sure you'll all get to see your big punchy thug again in November

I apologize for butting in, but I don't see how Batman can't be the world's greatest detective and brutal at the same time. It's done very well within the comics and even the Arkham video games as well. I personally would like to see that translated well to live action, and I think with the way things are now we could possibly get it.

He can be and hopefully will be.

I hope if we see any flashbacks or reference to him beating the Joker near to death for him killing Todd it is revealed that he was close to doing it but was talked down by Dick and/or Gordon (for the time being) but ultimately he still becomes much more violent after Jason's death like he did in the comics, and this is the major source of him and Dick's falling out. Then this is notched up once again to what we see in BvS.

This is pretty damn good Red.

I think fans will always have an issue with every incarnation of Batman that is different. Most versions for me that I see as the definitive Batman...Michael Keaton, Kevin Conroy's Batman.

Cranky, not loquacious, dry, slightly sarcastic, occasionally cold, and especially not someone who would open up about his emotions.

I just find Bale's Batman to be almost the opposite. Compare the Batmobile chase scene to Batman (1989) Bale's Batman just talks to Rachael, whereas Keaton's Batman is cold to his passenger guest. You can see the sadness in Bale's version of Batman, but I didn't always see the cranky behavior in his performance. As far as the anger goes, and as Bale in interviews put it, "I hated the suit, but I used that as an advantage", and he was kind of over-the-top on his Batman voice.

His playboy personality is a disguise, yes, but to me Bale's playboy performance was over-the-top. He looked too happy.

I didn't see the "real" Batman in Bale's eyes either, maybe a little, but maybe that's because Michael Keaton had the eyes/eyebrows giving him that advantage.

In some versions of the comics there's an emotional scene with Batman and Superman. Supes saying:

"Batman, I just want you to know, I'd never let anything happen to you. You're my family."

And Batman's response, "I know. You're my brother."

As much as I like that moment, it seemed out of character for Batman to me. From my point of view of the character, I think underneath at least, Batman thinks of Superman as a friend (in the long run of their friendship), and later on, possibly, as a brother, but I don't think he would ever admit that to Superman or to anyone else.

I just hope we get those Robins in one of the DCEU movies (real actor playing a real Robin on screen, not just a hollow suit in a glass case). We've never had a seriously and properly written Robin have we? There are so many stories to tell.

We can also use Dick to follow Bruce's footsteps if Affleck ever decides to put the cowl down.

I had no idea that my username can manifest all this madness...

Anyway, to bring the thread back :oldrazz:, do you guys think Bats will completely trust the League in this movie? He seems to be heavily inspired by Supes. Or will he just keep his distance like he normally would in the comics?

It would be strange to see Bats creating a Tower of Babel/Justice League Doom situation after what he's been through in BVS.

Depends on whether or not the League bring tributes of jelly donuts like Robin did before the Joker murdered his obese ass. Batman blames himself for not putting Jason through crossfit. Alfred thinks he could've imposed a stricter, more nutritious diet. :(

I think it's very possible that JL could be the last time we see Ben as the Batman.

Possible, maybe. Certainly? No.

Ben's exhausted. One of the reasons he dropped out of the director's chair, but that doesn't mean he's ready to kiss the DCEU goodbye.

No way Ben leaves DCEU without fulfilling his "dream role" to star as Batman in his own solo Bat movie.

He has endured too much to walk away without getting what he wants.

Funnily enough if Hammer is Dick, then that means when Affleck inevitably bows out as Batman (but still retains an Alfred-esque role) due to age, then Hammer will finally get to be Batman.

Still think Robin in Batman 4ever was good as well as the combination we had in TDKR.

I think the Robin would have worked much better and possibly been at least a little compeling if an actor who was close to 16/17 had been cast or at least looked it because someone as old as Chris O'Donnell saying that stuff and supposedly being a "kid" was completely unconvincing.

True that. Only a kid should play Robin. If they cast an actor who is, let's say Chris O' Donnell's age back then, he should play a pretty mature Nightwing.

I don't think Robin is excluded from being played by adults, you just can't cast a person who looks like a full grown man and try to play him off as an angsty teen who is adopted by Bruce.

I'm about as optimistic as they come, but I'm starting to worry about Ben. WB needs to listen to the cry's for help the dude has been silently yelling for some time now and manage him the way he needs managed. That's going to be key for Affleck going forward. Simply giving him breathing room. Hughes' Forbes article was basically all over the place and didn't breath optimism when it pertains to the subject, so basically Wonder Woman; Justice League: the floor is yours..
