I think they just slimmed his face down with CGI. Remember he was all chubby-faced when they went in for reshoots. I don't mind it. It would be more jarring for him to have a way fatter face from one shot to another.
To be fair this could be backlash for people complaining about him being too dark and broody in BVS...you know batman!^ Agreed about his appearance in the reshoots, as well as performance.
In DOJ, when he felt he's given an inescapable fate..he's legitimately fearful.

In JL, Bruce doesn't seem afraid of parademons.

Or even against a superpowered being shoving him against the wall.

And there's really nothing in the JL footage that makes Ben seem like he's taking on another role, just doing a more whispery version of himself.

I think because Affleck created more or less goodwill (outside of the infamous "Martha!" moment)..very few people seem concerned about his performance in JL.
I am one of these few. With BVS, it seemed like he really wanted to bring out the Frank Miller Batman..but with JL, it looks like Affleck is going for a "paycheck role."
I'm hoping the trailers are hiding his performance and that he can be redeemed for "The Batman."
But honestly..he's coming across as bland in every TV spot/trailer I've seen.
Some of that is the way it appears Batman is written (perfectly smart, perfectly tough, above average physical abilities), but it's like Affleck seems to be coasting on "It's Batman, so people will care, anyway."

I think you lot should wait until after you've seen the movie before judging his performance. The sample size we have as of now is waaay too small to make these statements

Does anyone here remember this pic ? It's from the video in support of environment against North Dakota pipeline. This was around 7 th Sept 2016.

Here, Ben Affleck looks same as he did in 'Exploding wind-up penguins" line, which was assumed to be filmed by Joss Whedon during reshoots, guess not.. as this pic shows, Affleck looks same here as he does in that scene, also we know that Whedon was attached to this movie (as a writer first, then after March as a director) after Jan 2017.
My point is, the 'exploding penguin' scenes could by shot by Snyder in August 2016 (or earlier), way before Whedon 's involvement. Now, time to disappear again..

^ Honestly..recasting for The Batman could allow for some character "softening" without altering the "identity" of this Batman. I personally feel Affleck seems burnt out of the role with JL. I felt similar vibes when watching Craig in Spectre.
I don't want to go see a "good film featuring Batman" with Reeves. I want to see a good BATMAN film.
I don't get why people think this. The question, to me, isn't whether or not Affleck wants the role. I'm sure he does. The question is whether or not Reeves wants to work with him.
I think Ben merely adjusted his performance to suit the tone of the film, which is clearly very jocular (perhaps to a fault).
It's not a question for me, but I believe it to be the case. His career and public image have been on the decline ever since he stepped "out into the spotlight" in accepting this humongous role. Whether or not he believes it's the result of this attention and/or reception to the films is of another topic, but either way I think that initial excitement in jumping into the genre again is no longer there. That canned PR statement this past Comic-Con didn't convince me.
I don't believe it's a 100% certainty just yet, but I've a feeling there's a rough draft of both WB and Ben's statements in regards to his near-future departure.

Maybe. But whatever felt 'distinct' in BVS seems generic in JL.
If the movie's good, I don't think his performance will take me out of the movie. But it doesn't really seem to be anything noteworthy so far.
