Justice League Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 5

I really don't know how I'd rank them. Affleck really hit my sweet spot, but they've all been great. If I'm watching Bale or Keaton, I don't think about Affleck or West, I just take in what's before me. In other words, all Batman is good Batman

I hope he gets another outting where he isn't plagued by personal struggles and production/behind the scenes issues. Really liked him in BvS and he was the highlight in that movie for me. The man needs a clear run again to show us what he can do. They turned his Batman into a joke in this.

Outside of the costume and the awesome fight scene in the warehouse, is there much difference between Affleck and Bale's versions of Batman/Bruce Wayne?

Affleck doesn't have the chops to just switch like this.

He looked perfect in BvS. I look at these and see Wayne/Batman.

Also it's funny how different he looks in in the photo as Wayne compared to his regular self.

He doesn't look that different. He has a hair piece on and scowling like a toddler.

What kind of toddlers do you hang around with? Actually never mind, I don't want to know.

Stop... yes he does. Maybe you think he doesn't if you never saw The Town, Gone Girl, or Argo. The script he was given wasn't demanding.

And I mean no disrespect to Ben, going through addiction recovery is hell on earth, but I'd imagine playing drunk isn't going to be an acting stretch for the guy

Truly, I wish Affleck would stay on for a solo film so that we can get a better idea of how things would be, but i'm mainly going off his work in BvS.

It's hard to say how Affleck's Bruce would react in a situation like the one in that video. What I do know is that you have a Bruce Wayne in two very different parts of their lives, and Affleck knocks it out of the park as a "screw this world" Bruce Wayne. i'm unsure if Bale could do as good a job. I honestly believe Affleck's acting is underrated.

I've seen all three. Maybe you haven't? He is fundamentally the same in all three. The best being Gone Girl. Because his blandness actually helped the characters portrayal.

He looks like his mum took candy from him.

Troll is obvious. We all know the only person who's got his candy taken away from is...you! :o

By the way what was up with his wardrobe in JL? Did they change costume designers?

I was more referring to the tonal switch. Not the basic idea of portraying a drunk.

Affleck staying on for the solo would be awful.
Reeves wants a trilogy.
Affleck would either drop out before it’s over or we would have many more years of “EXCLUSIVE! AFFLECK LEAVING BATMAN?”

Affleck's attempt at brooding got an audible laugh from me. It's not very good. He is much better at playing suave.

I like Affleck as an actor, but Bale could easily pull off the "screw this world" vibe. He's one of the most dynamic and passionate actors working today, and frankly, he's on a completely different level from Affleck. That's no disrespect to Affleck, but a look at how good Bale is.

Oh god. That would drive anyone mad.

At least he made you laugh and not cry. But I'm just messing around with you here.

Personally speaking, I think his enraged/careless Batman/Bruce Wayne was really great. I'm not sure what on earth they did to him in the pre-addiction/reshoot scenes. I definitely think his wardrobe didn't work for him. They had him always wearing loose fitting clothes. The only scene he looked great in JL was at the end with Clark on the farm. You are right about him pulling off suave.

True but Bale always looks like he's about to lash out at someone so it shouldn't be that hard to play that part. Plus he usually doesn't care much about anything Hollywood either so it works for him. :o :woot:

I also think Chadwick Boseman pulled off the brooding and "on a murder mission" much more effectively two months later in Civil War. You compare the two performances and I find Ben even more....lacking.

This is brooding.

There needs to be a shift in attitude if WB is considering a trilogy for any character right now.

He's a great actor. He also was the standout in Civil War and my favourite. But that just gives me a sadness/state of shock vibe there.

Edit: I don't want to take the thread off-topic by starting a debate between which actors are better as this is the wrong thread for it.
