Is it any wonder why he's unsure about committing?

I don't think he is unsure about committing but rather he is unsure of what they are going to do next. If they are going to do a soft-reboot, that places a question mark over his continuation.

Can't say I'm a huge fan of this shot... overall, Justice League was a step down from his BvS look.

When it comes to Batman, everything from Justice League was a step down from BvS. I'm not a big fan of BvS... but that version of Bruce/Batman was nearly perfect. The character had a lot of charm and swagger.

Small, kinda unrelated rant:

They ruined Affleck's Batman in Justice League. That type of humor is not appropriate for a character that's supposed to be on the same footing as Wonder Woman and Superman. It works on BTBATB, Batman 66 and Lego Batman because those versions of the character are not supposed to be menacing... unlike Affleck's Batman.

When it comes to Justice League, Bruce should always feel like the smartest person in the room. He should never feel vulnerable around other members of the team. That's why "Something is definitely bleeding" is a terrible line. A better choice would've been to build humor around Batman's cold and sarcastic personality.

Yep

I haaaaaaaaate the goofy ass Batman we got in justice league.
I walked out of the theater with Batman being my absolute least favorite character in the movie.
And that’s just ****ed up.
:funny:

Yeah. It really sucks. I feel like the only Bat-joke they got right was "It may be temporary" (props to Snyder on that one ). That's the kind of humor I expect from Batman. Self-deprecating humor rarely fits him.

You'd think they would know not to have Batman crack quips or generally act out of character, but I guess with all the complaints about him being too messed up in BvS, we got the opposite.

It’s WB not understanding the complaints and going too far in the wrong direction to fix a problem to wasn’t there:funny:

I liked "I'm not the one who brought a pitchfork..."

Same. I loathed JL's Batman. BvS Batman is probably one of the most badass characters ever put to screen and I adored that. To go from BvS to JL, it's no wonder why Affleck wants out. I would too. Batman went from loved to lame.

Which moments in JUSTICE LEAGUE feature Batman acting out of character?

Batman does make the occasional quip in the comics, too.

Batman looks awful in all of the Whedon reshoot scenes, but there are a handful of great shots of him in JL from what Snyder originally shot.

The worst was when it jumped from Snyder Batman to Whedon Batman and back in the same scene.

Yup I remember them. And there were 2 scenes that stick out like a sore thumb
a) the Atlantis scene. They can't even create a consistent look with the bad wig.
b) the Bruce-Barry scene. Noticably during the brunch scene. Affleck’s face was puffy as hell. They had to reshoot it just to put a “ I’ll try to keep up” line ugh

Yes! That shot is probably the best of him in the cowl. It just fits perfectly there.

Well, for one, the Batman I know doesn't audibly gasp and grin like an idiot when Superman returns.

this is a big problem with WB and why the reshoots were most of the weakest parts of the movie.

Yea honestly Supes return shouldn’t have noticeably phased Batman at all. He should have just kept fighting.

Why is this such an issue?

Is Batman not allowed to have human emotions?

He's not allowed to be relieved, or to express joy?

Why does grinning make him an "idiot", exactly? Does smiling make someone an idiot?

I understand that he usually doesn't...but that's kind of the point. After all the stress and guilt and misery and fighting what appeared to be a losing battle, he was so overwhelmed with a positive emotion that he expressed it.

If Batman spent a decent portion of the film smiling...you would have a legitimate point. But some of the most classic and beloved incarnations of Batman have been written to express emotion...to gasp in surprise, to smile, even (heaven forfend) to laugh.
