Justice League Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 6

If Hamada is keeping all the old band together, no way they are just rebooting Batman. Simple.

That "likely with a new actor" bit felt like it was based on past reports and previous months of speculation and rumors rather than it being a result of a new development. It wasn't "actually, despite recent reports that Affleck wants to stay, he's going to be replaced afterall".

I'm going to assume that Affleck is staying. Seeing recent photos of him, the dude is starting to get back into great shape.

I just want a full solo film with the tone for Bruce Wayne/Batman to be reminiscent of BvS.

This better be solved by Comic Con because I'm honestly tired of the back and forth "will-he-won't-he".

That gif just reminded me how different a characterization of Thor we got to see in Ragnorak - it was a totally different guy than what we saw in the original movie.

I agree, pre MOS, that year or so more fantastic, the world was a better looking place.

Walked out of MOS not sure what i thought, but knowing i wasn't disappointed and wanted more - then every news article after just broke me apart.

He's different (more casual and colloquial), but there are at least signs of this Thor even going back to the first movie. He was certainly a bit more serious, but fortunately there are enough moments in the previous movies to allow me to accept that Thor's time on Earth and around guys like Tony and others allowed him to become a bit more Earth-like. Then again, as we've gotten to see more of the cosmic side of the MCU, a lot of aliens seem pretty Earth-like in their behavior anyway.

But just thinking of scenes like when he's tossing up the hammer early in the first movie and winking at Sif, or when he gets tased by Darcy after he boasted, or was injected in the hospital again, with his face sliding down the door (which happened a couple of times in Ragnarok as well). There's the "He's adopted line." Thor tries to out-brag Tony about their respective girlfriends in AoU. So there are enough scenes to justify it somewhat. So I like to think of it as he just takes himself less seriously due to his experiences in these past few movies.

I just find it funny how they ditched the "old english" speak for completely colloquial, modern english. In Avengers Loki was like "I have sent the cube off, I know not where" and crap like that. Now he talks like some dude.

Whatever happens, I would have thought for ANY progress to be made in either direction (with or without) things would have to be in place by then and an announcement made, if not, bin him, he's had more than enough time to make his mind up.

To be fair, he's had, what, 5 movies prior to Ragnorok where he spent a lot of time on Earth with other humans. Same as when you move to another country for some time, you pick up local dialect and colloquialisms, and even accents.

That said, I think the transition could have been smoother, namely with Thor 2 and AOU.
As mentioned, there were always hints of similar even going back to the first Thor film, but the character arc certainly went a bit hockey stick at the end. Most dramatic difference happening all in Ragnarok.

I somewhat agree, but its a pretty minor point that I can easily overlook. I hardly noticed it until I watched some of the movies back to back.

Isn't the character over a thousand years old? He must have stayed on Earth for like... a couple of days during Avengers 1 and maybe a week during Ultron. If I go to New Zeland for a week my speech isn't going to be drastically and permanently altered.

Warner Bros. Shifts DC Strategy Amid Executive Change-Up

The big question mark going forward is the future of Batman. Writer-director Matt Reeves turned in the first act of a new screenplay during the Memorial Day weekend. It's said to focus on a young caped crusader, and while the studio would not comment, it's unlikely that Ben Affleck, who has played Batman in three features, will again don the cowl.

I have a wild theory considering this THR article and the rumors Affleck was staying/leaving being contradictory. Guys, I think we're about to get two actors playing the same character: the older version for ensemble films played by Affleck and the younger one played by another actor for Reeves' films. Basically the same Batman in two different periods of his life, perhaps even exploring the 80s DCEU that's going to open up with WW84.

Sigh, I guess I'm alone in liking and wanting to keep this older experienced Batman. I liked that this guy had been through it all, his rogues gallery, his relationships, his losses. It opened up a world of possibilities. I was looking forward to getting a scene or scenes where we could see Dick or Tim or Barbara or Selina show up just like in the comics and we get bits and pieces of their history with Bruce through dialogue and interactions. To me, that made this Batman's world rich where dont have to introduce anyone, we just tell a stoey with these characters who have a ton of history.

You're not alone, we just seem to be in the minority.

No I’m totally with you.

If they’re keeping Batfleck as the older version and casting a younger version of him, I’d love to see a movie that goes back and forth in time periods.

Why does Reeve Batman have to be a period piece? Just do a soft reboot and recast Affleck. Simple as that

I seriously doubt Bruce Wayne was active in the 80s.

We're not in the minority. Most people like Ben as Batman.

Define “most” here. Because I don’t think most of the audience would care if he were recast given the negative reaction to BVS and JL.

I think Finn Whittrock would be a good choice for what they're going for:

Hopefully Reeves Batman will just replace Affleck. No need for convoluted explanation with Affleck being present-day and Reeve being past. Soft reboot. It worked for Batman in the past just fine
