Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman

I'm not surprised they are addressing it. They did the same in BvS about Superman destroying most of Metropolis.

I thought it was obvious they'd address it. Even before.

Except they didn't really. All the stuff with Congress was about the attack in Africa saying Superman killed all those people. Even though in the ultimate cut, it clearly shows that the government was ready to drone that whole area to hell.

Weren't Batman and Wallace Keefe's entire arcs about what happened in Metropolis?

Yes, but of course anybody that hated Bee Vee Ess can't acknowledge that you're right because they fear that they might be forfeiting a piece of their souls if they do.

I'm actually wary about how they'll be addressing his murder of criminals. If at all. The article mentioned his intentions of killing Supes, but that's cakewalk compared to his short-lived time just offing thugs left and right.

I was one of the few who championed it only because it's the first time in a long while a murderous Batman has been so concrete about his actions. They'll essentially be backpedaling with JL, and I don't know if creatively they can provide a good justification for going "back to normal".

The entire dilemma in crossing such a line is you can't go back.

Also in the ultimate cut, Senator Finch called the hearing because she discovered that it was Lex that engineered the smear campaign against Superman with the whole Africa situation. And Superman did destroy the drone and the soldiers came in to find burnt corpses. They probably interpreted the scene as Superman destroying the drone so he could kill those people himself.

Eh, I think killing off thugs is way easier to justify when they're using military grade weaponry. I mean, maybe Cyborg or Flash wouldn't approve because their youth or Superman because of his ideals. But I don't think Aquaman and Wonder Woman would take any issue with it at all.

The bigger issue is him trying to kill off a worldwide hero for such a darkly human reason.

It's justifiable behavior, but I'm speaking within the context and confines of the Batman lore. It's the one area which has (rightfully so) been definitively black and white.

Rage and paranoia are occasional hallmarks of the character, the fact he didn't go through with it saves them from being backed into a wall.

Goddamn it, yall.

I should be calming you all down after that Live by Night trailer.

I'm gonna txt Ben and let him know you all are nothing but ungreatful bastahs.

Just saw the Live by Night trailer. Hot damn! I can't wait to see his Batman.

Yeah, but I'm not talking what we know from the comics. I'm talking within the context of the films. Arthur is the King of the Seas and yet he kills fish to feed humans. Diana has fought in a war. Neither are averse to killing life that by all accounts, they should value if they were to take issue with Batman killing. So, I can't imagine it'd be a real issue for them. For Barry and Vic, I could see them maybe having some issues with it since they're younger guys. Superman would definitely have something to say given he only kills when it's the last resort.

Now him trying to kill Superman, that would be a larger issue for the team. He basically let his ego and his own sense of frailty get the best of him. And he allowed himself to be manipulated by Lex for years. Now that's all understandably human, but I could see there being some reluctance from some of his contemporaries or even from within himself that might to believe that it won't happen again.

At any rate, I think it all makes for good character drama. Excited to see how they proceed with that.

I need to watch it again this time for what the trailer is teasing. I'm so impatient for the Batman stand alone that I was just casting the people I saw as different Batman supporting characters smh.

Prohibition era gangster flick set in the Bean and Tampa directed by Ben Affleck. I'm in!!

I agree. The reasoning is there in the movie, as to why he became cruel. I suspect they'll play up to the fact he's more inspired about life due to the metahuman discoveries.

Excellent trailer. Looking forward to this one.

About the only encouraging JL bit of news from that WSJ article for me.

Addressing that will be a nice change of course from what the norm is in some Batman films when he's fatally reckless like that. Which is to ignore it.

Is it a new article?? Link please??

Polux.

Yeah Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne and Batman is perfection.

I am actually starting to think this is a double. Is that Affleck? He looks TOO perfect.

When I saw this in the theater I almost threw my popcorn at the screen and yelled dagnamit! First Henry at the stove now this! I'm not even a guy and I wanted to get a gym membership.

Superman also tried to regulate Doomsday to space to keep him from destroying anything. As for addressing the destruction, I was not happy with the various "this place is abandoned" lines in the movie.

From "Live By Night". I see what you did there, Ben. :oldrazz:
