Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman

Cavill and Jackman are pretty much the only guys who've remained jacked while playing the same superhero multiple times. It was very unlikely that Affleck would retain his BvS physique.

What bothers me more is that his face looks botoxed nowadays.

Same. Why did he do it? He looked effing great in BvS. Now his eyes are weird.

I don't care how he looks when the cameras are off.

He looked damn good in the JL footage and that's all that matters.

But yes, at times in the public eye he looks like a reptile person in an uncomfortable skin suit.

Yup. Between his current physique, face, and batsuit, I think Affleck already peaked look-wise in BvS.

See, I noticed it in the JL footage. Especially in the Barry scene.

The guy is getting old. You can't expect him to look that great at his age.

I wonder how many times they will allow him to play Batman. Will we have a Batman series with Batman in his 50's? Nowadays big studios want appealing faces to represent their heroes. Not sure they will allow a not so great looking in his 50's playing Batman. It wouldn't bother me, but marketing wise, it's not the greatest of the strategies.

Yeah I know, but to me, he looked better before he got the botox.

he has aged pretty gracefully all things considered.

I'd rather embrace the aging over having a face that looks like its made out of rubber.

He looked normal to me at CC.

Yeah he must've had the botox at the start of production and it's finally "settled" in because in the Arthur/Bruce scene his eyes look normal again. So maybe it's just the scenes he shot around the time of it.

Maybe wearing the cowl for a long time swells his face up. You guys thought of that? Not saying I'm right, but it's worth considering.

The aging Batman thing is starting to give me second thoughts. I think Affleck's casting was the result of a confluence of factors: Warner Bros. wanting a big star as Batman, hoping to secure Affleck long-term with the studio, and of course, Zack Snyder's obsession with The Dark Knight Returns. But it's starting to seem like casting an older actor as Batman might not have been such a good idea in the long term.

On the one hand, I think it makes a lot of sense to have Batman be older and wiser than the rest of the Justice League. It gives him an advantage over the others and further explains why this normal human being (even "peak-level") can stand toe-to-toe with a bunch of superpowered metahumans. Batman has typically been depicted as the main tactician of the Justice League, and having him be a veteran, battle-hardened crimefighter only improves that ability.

On the other hand, how old can Batman get before it starts to affect his ability to physically fight? I get that this is fiction and you can get away with a lot through stuntmen, etc. But this isn't like Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, who wears high-tech suits of armour that protect him and allow him to efficiently target his foes. With Batman, we have to assume that this guy is still in peak physical shape and a world-class fighter. With an older actor, suspension of disbelief gets more difficult, even though Affleck was roughly the same age when he was cast as Bruce as Downey was when he was cast as Tony Stark.

Ultimately, I'm rooting for Affleck because he's probably my favourite actor yet to portray Bruce Wayne/Batman in live action. But I'm not sure how many movies he has left in him. And I'm worried by how much his physical appearance has deteriorated recently. At the time of the BvS premiere I was struck by how healthy and fit he looked (especially since he had had that weird Botox look only a few months before). But I wonder if going through a divorce has had some negative effects on his health and appearance. There are signs he's started drinking again. Sometimes his face looks weird because of apparent Botox treatments, and then other times he looks puffy and just plain old.

I get that Snyder likes the image of a "crusty old Batman beating up bad guys", but I also don't think we want a late-era Roger Moore as James Bond equivalent. It's a fine line to walk between having an older, mature Batman, but also one who looks physically capable enough to still be that fearsome avenger who can kick anybody's ass. And regardless of the character's appearance on film, I hope Ben looks after himself just for the sake of his own health.

Ya know?? This was exactly my main concern when Affleck was cast and they said they were going for the "older Batman"....then I got over it :yay:

What I mean is, there's no point worrying about movies that are 5-7 years away, just enjoy what you have in front of you right now...

I had no problem in believing this guy was smacking up duded left right and centre. With good stuntment and more of the same direction from Snyder, the Batman will remain the same. Its the Bruce Wayne that Affleck has to perform, and that wouldnt be a problem at all.

I agree that we needed an "experienced" Batman that can fight metahumans, but not necessarily older. But Affleck IMO has pulled off both Batman and Bruce Wayne quite well. That awesome suit adds a lot to bringing Batman alive.

On the other hand, this story can very well lead further into the Batman wearing the Beyond suit for a while, then ultimately leading to the Batman Beyond story line. We even have Waller now, so her wanting to create Batman Beyond isn't that far fetched, because "the world will always need a Batman."

He is only 45 (Bruce) and Affleck is even younger and looks younger than he actually is, so his Batman has plenty of years to go as men that age can easily still remain extremely physically fit and able.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always pictured Batman to be someone in his forties.
Probably because I was familiar with stories where he's fully operationnal like BTAS, I don't know, but I remember that before Affleck's casting, I was hoping that we don't have a too young actor.
There was also the fact that I don't wanted to see another Batman in his prime after the Nolan's trilogy.

I feel similarly. And lets not forget Snyder always manages to make his actors stay buff and look super cool in costume.I am sure Batman will look badass in JL.

Yeah Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne and Batman is perfection.

I am actually starting to think this is a double. Is that Affleck? He looks TOO perfect.

True. If I recall correctly, some of the filmmakers said that Batfleck is supposed to be 46-47 (they were intentionally vague about it, so let's say "mid-40s"), but if you go by what was shown in film, the muder of the Waynes happened a little over 30 years ago, and kid-Bruce couldn't be older than 10, right?? So he could very well be in his early 40s (this is all me assuming guys, I'm not entirely certain of anything here).

And as mentioned, Affleck looks even younger than his actual age (IMHO, even tho they used make up to make him look older, he still looks younger than what he's "supposed" to be), so I think they kept Wayne's age vague on purpose, kinda the same way they do with RDJ's Tony Stank.

So nothing to worry, I'd say.

At this point I don't even care if that's all "pure Affleck" or cgi enhanced; it's all movie magic anyways, I only care about what's shown onscreen...and what was shown onscreen was perfection :ilv:
