A few posts ago you said he was "bad casting." You're passing judgment on him without having seen a single frame of footage.
How can you declare him bad casting if you can at least recognize the possibility of him delivering a solid performance under Reeves?
I've gotten the impression that you've already made up your mind about the guy. My apologies if I'm mistaken.
Just because i think it's bad casting doesn't mean i'm saying there's no possibility of a good performance in the future. Surprises happen, a lot. I thought Eisenberg was bad casting, even though he's a good actor for what
he does. The performance could have been great, i was prepared for that.
Even if he surprises me, i still think they should go with an actor who we would call a veteran actor in his 40's. Hell, i don't think Keanu Reeves is a good actor but he was used very well in John Wick. Good casting. Good direction. It's not a great performance either. But it works. That could be Joe. But Deathstroke should come off smart, and believable that he's been through hell. Manganiello doesn't have that weight, from what i've seen.
I can understand that some people here don't have faith in the team of David Goyer, Zack Snyder and Charles Roven.
But not having any faith for Geoff Johns, Chris Terrio, Ben Affleck, Matt Reeves and Jon Berg is puzzling.
You're puzzled by this? You mean Chris Terrio, the same guy who wrote Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice? The guy who reworked Goyer's original draft/s.
Or Ben Affleck? The guy who just delivered a bad film where he gave one of his most wooden performances to date?
Or Geoff Johns, the same guy who was involved with the masterpiece known as Green Lantern? The guy who isn't the best at writing batman in that other medium known as comic books. He hasn't proven himself in the film industry
at all.
Why is that puzzling?
OK i'll admit that my joke (Joe Meathead) was uncalled for. I don't know enough about the guy to say he's a meathead. But his roles always give me that vibe. Every single time. He's usually type cast, no?
When i said "all we're going to get is fighting", i mean, i don't have confidence in WB to do anything else with the character. I didn't read Joe's interview where he said they're doing
more than that. Now i have.
My other quote "I don't want to see Deathstroke as a villain for the sake of some cool fight scenes we could witness" ... i stand by that. I don't trust them yet, to do anything more than that. If they wanted more depth with Deathstroke, they should have hired a better actor.
It's almost as if some want "Old WB", to come back, days of Alan Horn, Jeff Robionov and Chris Nolan and Bryan Singer.
Well they pumped out better comic book movies, didn't they.
They gave the filmmakers loads of freedom in MOS and BvS(too much?) if reports are to be lieved. SS they f-ed up. WW is also said to be pretty filmmaker driven, with Patty executing her vision. JL less so, while Aquaman as Wan has said that he is not gonna be restrained by the studio, and he said he wasnt for the Conjuring films either. I am guessing the same will be for The Batman. Truthfully its a bit hit and miss for them in terms of creative freedom they give. Hopefully they find a good balance for the DC films. But from what I have heard, WB as a studio(not counting dc films) are pretty film maker driven.
They replaced Michelle MacLaren with Patty because Patty was willing to play ball.
