I didnt say it was impossible that he could deliver a solid performance under Reeves. I didn't throw in the towel completely. And I said "almost" insulted.
A few posts ago you said he was "bad casting." You're passing judgment on the guy without having seen a single frame of footage.

How can you declare him bad casting if you at least recognize the possibility of him delivering a solid performance under Reeves?

I've gotten the impression that you've already made up your mind about the guy. My apologies if I'm mistaken.

I can understand that some people here don't have faith in the team of David Goyer, Zack Snyder and Charles Roven.

But not having any faith for Geoff Johns, Chris Terrio, Ben Affleck, Matt Reeves and Jon Berg is puzzling.

That makes them in charge. It's pretty simple, actually. The DCEU was really ambitious and WB is having their learning curves right now. They didn't have a separate division to make them movies like Disney and Lucasfilm. Be thankful, instead of complaining.
Thankful for bad movies and a bad vision. A RUSHED vision that is backwards? Yeah. I'm reaaaally thankful!

Who assumed Joe was stupid.

Who assumed Deathstroke was not intelligent?

....

Deathstroke doesn't make sense as a main villain especially with Joe Meathead in the role.

All we're going to get is fighting and a standard "Deathstroke has been sent by so and so to go after Batman..."

What else would they do with the character ?

I don't want to see Deathstroke as a villain for the sake of some cool fight scenes we could witness.

It's almost as if some want "Old WB", to come back, days of Alan Horn, Jeff Robionov and Chris Nolan and Bryan Singer.

It's amazing how some people know how a movie is gonna turn out or a performance. Anyone got tonights Lottery numbers?

In some ways I do. They truly did respect director's takes on IPs. But maybe the mess we're in is inherent to the rules of a cinematic universe. But then again Marvel has practically shown the blueprint of how it's done well in the long-term. So I'd rather new heads take the mantle.

Matt Reeves is a great choice. Hope he gets creative control of the film!

you say this like its a bad thing

other than robinov and maybe singer (depending on your opinion of superman returns) I would gladly welcome old WB back after what we've gotten.

They gave the filmmakers loads of freedom in MOS and BvS(too much?) if reports are to be lieved. SS they f-ed up. WW is also said to be pretty filmmaker driven, with Patty executing her vision. JL less so, while Aquaman as Wan has said that he is not gonna be restrained by the studio, and he said he wasnt for the Conjuring films either. I am guessing the same will be for The Batman. Truthfully its a bit hit and miss for them in terms of creative freedom they give. Hopefully they find a good balance for the DC films. But from what I have heard, WB as a studio(not counting dc films) are pretty film maker driven.

The Old Guard would have never approved a DC shared universe. The MCU was a Disney acquisition and wasn't Horn's brainchild.

We wouldn't be getting Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash, ect.

Supes is my boy. Bats is my boy. But I don't think I could take another 20 of their movies over the course of my lifetime without anything else in the DCU getting a shot.

Dude, calm down. You're a consumer. This all "ownership of the fans" thing is a ploy. Be thankful that they are making adjustments because they want to keep that ploy going and not choosing the Transformers route.

About the only reason I'd want old WB is to do Vertigo titles on the side. The DC movies were only worth investing if it was Batman.

Just because i think it's bad casting doesn't mean i'm saying there's no possibility of a good performance in the future. Surprises happen, a lot. I thought Eisenberg was bad casting, even though he's a good actor for what he does. The performance could have been great, i was prepared for that.

Even if he surprises me, i still think they should go with an actor who we would call a veteran actor in his 40's. Hell, i don't think Keanu Reeves is a good actor but he was used very well in John Wick. Good casting. Good direction. It's not a great performance either. But it works. That could be Joe. But Deathstroke should come off smart, and believable that he's been through hell. Manganiello doesn't have that weight, from what i've seen.

You're puzzled by this? You mean Chris Terrio, the same guy who wrote Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice? The guy who reworked Goyer's original draft/s.

Or Ben Affleck? The guy who just delivered a bad film where he gave one of his most wooden performances to date?

Or Geoff Johns, the same guy who was involved with the masterpiece known as Green Lantern? The guy who isn't the best at writing batman in that other medium known as comic books. He hasn't proven himself in the film industry at all.

Why is that puzzling?

OK i'll admit that my joke (Joe Meathead) was uncalled for. I don't know enough about the guy to say he's a meathead. But his roles always give me that vibe. Every single time. He's usually type cast, no?

When i said "all we're going to get is fighting", i mean, i don't have confidence in WB to do anything else with the character. I didn't read Joe's interview where he said they're doing more than that. Now i have.

My other quote "I don't want to see Deathstroke as a villain for the sake of some cool fight scenes we could witness" ... i stand by that. I don't trust them yet, to do anything more than that. If they wanted more depth with Deathstroke, they should have hired a better actor.

It's almost as if some want "Old WB", to come back, days of Alan Horn, Jeff Robionov and Chris Nolan and Bryan Singer.
Well they pumped out better comic book movies, didn't they.

They replaced Michelle MacLaren with Patty because Patty was willing to play ball.

It's a bad thing.

I like Nolan Trilogy and Superman Returns, but I don't want any of them back to DC movies.

Robinov was the one who started the whole business of "dark and gritty" comic book movies, not that it was a bad thing in itself, but there has to be some room for different types of movies having different tones, I cannot imagine him green-lighting lighter comic book movies like (say) Flash and Shazam.

And, he was sure about success of female lead comic book movies, he was interested only in making solo Batman and solo Superman movies.

Then there was issue of ongoing politics inside WB's top management, Alan Horn's camps and Robinov's camps.

It good thing that all of them are gone now, good riddance, I say.

Well this studio hasn't greenlit Flash or Shazam yet either!

Green Lantern wasn't dark and gritty. They greenlit that one.

That's hardly sufficient nowadays, it was all good that Nolan did a "grounded take" on the character but I don't see how that Batman could work in a JL type movie.

They replaced Michelle MacLaren with Patty because Patty was willing to play ball.

Michelle MacLaren wanted to have mega budget and big battle scenes, it would have been quite expensive, maybe it was beyond budget WB wanted to spend on the movie and don't forget demand to have a "talking Tiger" (which belongs in a Shazam movie, not WW movie.)

So, they were not on the same page, it's was a good thing that they let her go.

connected films would likely be a thing of the past.

Would rather have great standalone movies than making movies into an episodic experience.

Oh yes. There was a talking tiger. And she wanted Diana to lead Amazons and start a war with men. It was crazy. :funny:

I'd watch it. But it wasn't Wonder Woman.

They replaced Michelle MacLaren with Patty because Patty was willing to play ball.

Patty left Thor because of creative differences. So now suddenly she is willing to "play ball"? The more reasonable explanation is Patty's vision of the movie was liked by the studio, while McLaren reportedly wanted to do some pretty odd stuff like introduce a talking tiger companion. There is giving freedom, and then there is giving too much freedom.

You're puzzled by this? You mean Chris Terrio, the same guy who wrote Batman v Superman : Dawn of Justice? The guy who reworked Goyer's original draft/s.

Chris Terrio did not do a page one rewrite, and after watching BvS UC, i don't think his writing was bad at all.

Or Ben Affleck? The guy who just delivered a bad film where he gave one of his most wooden performances to date?

So, he directs one movie that fails to get good critical reviews and suddenly, he is a bad director ?

Many directors churn out one or two bad movies every now and then.

Geoff Johns did not have much control over what was happening in GL movie back than, there were too many cooks, and many writers.

I think Geoff Johns is there to make sure that the movie's script remains faithful to comics.

Apart from that, he started his career with Richard Donner and has written few episodes of Smallville, Green Arrow and Flash series, while that does not make in a good writer, he is not a newbie either.
