Comics Ben Reilly...returns?!

Not surprising that crivelliman has yet to post here again. If he does we should tell him what we think of him.

I don't get it tho... Wasn't it Peter David's website that said something like "Two words: Ben Rielly"
Shouldn't he be the one that people are frustrated with?

My comic shop has tangible issues from next week's Marvel comics, and Friendly is one of them. I looked through it, and all I have to say is...

It's him. It's really Ben Reilly. He has a full beard, but he's got that cynical, kind of light-hearted sense of humor. There's even a clone joke, which he doesn't react well to. He applies for a job at Midtown or something. I didn't have a lot of time, but all I got through was him walking down the road thinking, "Great, I'm working for Flash Thompson." I was wrong. It's not a nickname or codename for Pete. It's a person, around Pete's age, with a beard.

So yeah. Color me surprised.

Oh, and he's blonde.

Hmmmm....I guess you're NOT a liar. You really DID just skim through it.

Man.... I owe crivelliman a sincere apology then. Guess he wasn't making that stuff up... he just got some of the details fudged.

Figured I'd post, since there's more than a few references to my stellar net-handle. Sorry about the inaccurate info, ladies and gents.

I appreciate those who defended my airtight alibi of "skimming the book," since they don't let you read the whole thing in the store. Totally my bad, sorry to those clone lovers out there who really took this to heart. Honestly, I would never just make up fake news and rumors and release them into the heart of the clone fanbase just to screw with you. I promise.

*sigh*... here are the REAL spoilers. crivelliman's spoilers are fake.

Guys hate to be the bearer of bad news, but apparently crivelliman is full of it. A friend of mine who posts on the smb has read the upcoming FNSM front to back (his post is here) and it's just Pete using Ben's ID. A cruel joke on crivelliman's part, a let-down on our part (that's what I get for getting my hopes up) and a nod on PAD/Marvel's part which at least counts for something. At the very least he's being acknowledged and the frenzy over that one tease counts for something. But I really wish he had come back....I equate this to waiting for christmas and then being told christmas is cancelled. Sucks.... :csad:

HA! I called it.

Eh, it's all good man. Sorry for overreacting too. Us clone fans get worked up pretty quick.

1. Peter, since quiting the registration side is on the run, and since everyone knows Spider-Man is Peter Parker, Peter adopts the identity of "Ben Reilly" as an alias when he's not in costume.

Of course, too many were blasing me for my "Ben Reilly clearly died" comment. Oh excuse me, disintegrated. Oh wait, wrongly disintegrated. No wait, writers mistakingly disintegrating a clone improperly. Either way, Ben Reilly ended up looking like he clearly died to me.

SPIDEY-DUDE: BLASPHAMY!
CITIZEN KAINE: STILLANERD'S THE ANTI-CHRIST!
LEGIONS OF BEN REILLY FANS: GET HIM!
(Stillanerd is promtly and swiftly beaten by sticks, stones, clubs, and is about to be hung, racked, dismembered, shot, and burned, all the while smiling over the fact that, regardless of what happens to him, he knows that Ben Reilly still hasn't come back to life.)

Admit it, folks. Being on the dark side is a whole lot of fun. Just ask Darth Vader. :D

*note: the poster's views on Ben Reilly in no way reflect his overall opinion on the character himself, especially since the poster believes that he was what the REAL Spider-Man should've been acting like all along (even though the poster strongly disagrees he was ever the real Spider-Man) and that there was no real reason for him to actually die. Then again, if he didn't, Spider-Girl may not have come to pass

Rooting for the underdog is fun too. Just ask Spider-Man fans. :woot:

Ironically, Ben Reilly is an underdog x1000. He makes rooting for Peter feel like rooting for the Yankees.

Totally understandable. :yay: I get that way any time I hear Lucas is changing the original trilogy... again. :csad:
