Optimus prime From Transformers 1 (there was a second one?!?) and Neytiri from Avatar.

the man with the big glowing penis......and body...was that gay?
dr.manhattan

It's only gay if you stare at it the whole time . It really didnt stand out to me and I was suprised people had this reaction.

They're just not used to seeing something that a half of the audience has seen every day. Apprently since it's blue it's weird.

Probably Davy Jones. That is the only CG creation to fool me for a second or two.

I would also like to give an honorable mention to Two-Face from TDK. Granted he wasn't all CG, but I was positive after seeing the film that it was done with a combination of makeup and digital effects, when in fact it was all CG. It was really impressive.

My precious..... Gollum, definitely.

voted Dr. Manhattan, only cause I didn't notice Gollum at first. both are great.

No Netiryi from Avatar? Her character was better than Jake's.

Hulk 2003 would have gotten my vote but it isnt on there so went for King Kong, the others were superb as well, but Kong was just amazing, the fact that I am close to tears when Kong dies at the end of the movie everytime says something.

Neytiri - Avatar
Christopher Johnson - District 9
Ang Lee's Hulk - Hulk (2003)

Have been added :awesome:

I voted for King Kong as to me he looked the most realistic of the bunch. To me the the most important thing is;does the character look like he belongs in that time frame or is he believable in that enviroment settings.
Next would be Gollum then Neytiri from Avatar as they also looked like they belonged to that film setting/surroundings. Not saying the other characters on there weren't cool or detailed, but just didnt cut it for me...

Does the T-1000 not count as digital? I guess the live actor/cgi takes him out of the running?
Far as worst on that list if I can remember is the Zombie guy from I Am Legend,he just looked bad.

Davey Jones
Gollum
King Kong
Neytiri
Jake Sully

you think Gollum looked like he belonged more in the enviorment then Neytiri in avatar?

even when for gollum they didnt use color bouncing? you know the basics for realistic lighting?

Well differences between these two are - Neytiri is never in a real environment, there's nothing behind her or around her other then CGI, There's no one for her to interact with other then CGI characters. Gollum of the other hand... is almost always in real environments and interacting with real people - So to compare the two isn't a far argument - Not to mention how vastly CGI has advanced between LoTR and Avatar.

I Don't really see anything in there that looks vastly superior then what gollum had to offer...

Plus considering Gollum was surrounded with %100 real environment and people %100 of the time - as opposed to avatars, what, like %00.00.01? and given that Gollum was done almost a decade before and he still looks as good as anything in avatar - I'd say that at least puts them on the same level

and Why would it make me angry that avatar made 2.5 billion?

My vote went to Davy Jones from The Pirates of the Caribbean. To me he was just very impressive.

I think the best is King Kong. It definitely looked like what a giant ape would look.

The movie SUCKED big time. But the CGI King Kong was perfect.

Neytiri from Avatar. Saldana sold it on the performance, and the CG artist captured every bit of her magic.

Gollum's my second fav.
