Best Twist Ending

I think it has been mentioned. I remember turning to my friend 10 minutes into the movie and saying how I thought it would end...and bingo, that was exactly what happened......I know, I probably should have kept that to myself.

See, now that is the kinda post that kills me. When people 'claim' they knew all along how a movie with a twist was gonna end. I really hope your into Quantum Physics with a brain like yours my friend, because figuring out things that only the people working on the movie should/would know is a terrible talent to waste...:o

Ha! You didn't need to be Stephen Hawking to see it coming.
My friend had to admit I nailed it when the film was over. Just from what I saw of previews, 10 minutes in I was able to make a pretty good guess...and I was right. It didn't take much to put it together. Blame it on previews for giving that much away. And no one had told me anything....I saw it on opening day.
I'm not saying I can't be surprised, but that one I figured out pretty quick.

The Prestige left way too obvious clues. I haven't read the book, but once Borden said
one part of him loves his wife, and the other doesn't,I knew there were two of him.

Eeeer... while I certainly do think people claim they could see a twist coming when they couldn't have, "Identity" is not one of those movies. The twist was a standard
split personality
twist, and is one of the first guesses a lot of people make when looking for twists, and to top it off the twist was pretty much telegraphed from very early on.

The Gift
Memento
Unbreakable
The Usual Suspects
Donnie Darko

Someone mentioned The Sting, my personal favorite twist ending, and a class film throughout. I also liked the Ocean's Eleven remake ending -- just a slight twist, but an amusing one.

Here's an obscure one for you true film buffs to hunt down: Avalon, a rare live-action flick from Mamoru Oshii, the director of Ghost in the Shell. An extremely cool movie in its own right, it keeps you perplexed as to the true nature of its sci-fi world until the main character reaches her goal. Then you're like, Oh, is that all this is about? And you're all kind-of let down, 'cause it seems a little stale, a little derivative.

Then -- Bang! Twist ending! Cut to black! Roll credits! No explainations to spoon-feed you the plot. It just leaves you picking up the pieces of your blown mind as you try to wrap your brain around what just happened. Crazy. Maybe a little too crazy for some of you. :cwink:

Just don't settle for the US release DVD. The English dub and the subtitles are the same rewritten script, which reveals plot points before they happen through these long-winded voice-overs which aren't a part of the original version. Try to get a fansub.

-- END!
