Best movie twist ending ever?

Yeah I'm in the middle of reading the book. It has more of a sci-fi take on the story. So far I like the movie better. A little off the topic, but David Bowie was great as Tesla in the movie. I didn't know who that was at first, I did kind of a double take when I saw his name in the credits.

The best twists aren't really about what happens, it's about HOW it happens and how the movie reveals it is what makes them great.

What movie do you think has the best ending twist? Like an ending that COMPLETLEY knocks you off guard.
I haven't seen them all, but out of all the movies I've seen, I have to give it to SAW. DAMN that one got me.

Yeah, SAW is a good contender and probably my number two. But I have to give it to Se7en. I never expected what happened in that film.

Identity had a unique one.
And the Skeleton Key wasn't that good but it had an interesting twist.

Identity has what should have been an excellent one liner. "****es Don't Get A Second Chance." Simple hilarious.

Assuming you mean Saw and not Scream, yes you were the only one. No one guessed that since that isn't really even the twist. It was just a surprise. I doubt anyone on earth had the foresight to think a bloody corpse was the mastermind.

I only saw it once and liked it, but I'm not super familiar with the details. A twist has clues to figure it out. What were the clues given to us that pointed to a corpse being the baddie?
Obvious insight...

Not that i initially thought he was the mastermind but i didn say that i thought that the person in the middle of the room isnt actually dead and then it evolved from there.

I sat through the whole thing unamused...

I think you mean Saw. Like you, a couple of my friends guessed Jigsaw was in the room the entire time.
Ah, Saw, that's right

I apologise, i think at a hundred miles per hour, my fingers cant keep up.

:up

Everyone has mentioned the greats but one of my favorites is Hot Fuzz, it wasn't the very end but I seriously thought it was the guy who owned the supermarket by himself.

Yeah that was actually really cool. Having the entire town in on it was a stroke of genius.

I was trying not to give it away, but thanks it was cool wasn't it.

Anyone who hasn't seen Hot Fuzz yet needs to be chin impaled by a miniature church.

I know this won't be one of the best twists ever but..

*JUMPER SPOILER*

I hadn't pegged the mom as one of the bad guys untill the end

I didn't even consider that option.

Very true, someone said they were going to buy me the 3Disc set, I'm still waiting but hopefully i'll be getting it soon, just bought a sweet poster though.

I also liked the end of Bourne Ultimatum. Yeah it's not big of a twist having him survive that fall, but it was the way they did it with the smirk from Stiles upon hearing of no body.

Till then i was thinking that they had killed him off, then it hit me that it's not that easy to kill Bourne and we saw him swim away.

Agreed. I had a feeling he was still alive, but they paced it just right so that when he started moving again and he swam away, you have a big smile on your face knowing he's still gonna be out there.

I just remembered Twelve Monkeys had a weird ending that was already attached to a weird movie.

I must put my bias aside and also list SAW. The ending was brilliant and I sure didn't see it coming. And this is coming from someone who hates modern horror, the first Saw was good and had a nice twist at the end.

what's the twist at the end of Se7en? his wife's head turns up ina box, that's not a twist it's just more of a shock.

"I am your Father" is probably the twist of all time...

but Planet of the Apes is easily my favourite. One of the best endings ever, just in general.

American Beauty is cool because you actually forget that the first line of the movie is "My name is Lester and I am going to die today" so when it happens you're still like WTF. Not so much a twist though.

I also thought Apocalypto had somewhat a twist at the end.

You should see the alternate ending on the DVD.

After everything that happens in South America, the movie cuts to Rome. To people are standing over a grave talking.

Person 1: Did you hear what happened?
Person 2: No what?
Person 1: The Jews wiped out the Mayans in Mexico.
Person 2: Those damn Jews...first what happened here...and now the Mayans...if only someone could stand against them.

The two people walk away from the grave and the camera pans down showing whose name is on the grave. It is marked "Jesus." Suddenly a bolt of lightning strikes the grave and:

A hand bursts from the grave. The screen then reads "The End...?"

Alas, the studio thought it was too blatant of a set up for the final film of the trilogy. "Jesus' Revenge."

Memento, Se7en, Fight Club, The Sixth Sense (though I personally don't like that movie), The Usual Suspects, and Empire Strikes Back.

I always thought the original Halloween had a twist ending . The killer basically dissapears at the end of the film. It would of been better if I saw that before I saw the other sequels but it is a good twist.
