Bale is both a better Batman and a better Bruce Wayne, but Bale especially crushes Affleck when it comes to being Bruce.

Sidenote: The honeymoon phase is over for Batfleck, and I knew that would happen with JL, because it happened with Bale in TDK and TDKR.

Except that's being blamed on Whedon.

Affleck is a decent Batman, but I think he's more suited to Kingdom Come Superman.

Bale.

Bale as Bruce is why I love Batman Begins.

I wonder who the DCEU diehards would blame for JL being terrible if WB would have just let Snyder "complete his vision." Because I'm 100% convinced it would have sucked no matter what.

Keeping in mind that Bruce Wayne is the mask, the only time I've really *seen* Bruce Wayne live action, between the two is in Batman Begins, so I gotta give it to Christian. Even though that party scene in BvS where Clark and Bruce trade barbs is my favorite of the film, he's Bruce in name only there, clearly in his full Batman persona on a Batman mission.

Oh, it definitely would've sucked no matter what, and it is interesting wondering who DCEU diehards wouldve chosen for a scapegoat. Because they always choose a scapegoat. Ever since MOS, they have always found someone or something to blame for the latest polarizing or awful reaction to Snyder's movies.

Yeah. For BvS, the scapegoat was "studio interference". For JL, it was Whedon. I'm not sure who they blamed for MOS's shortcomings, but I'm sure it wasn't Snyder.

I'm guessing they'd still blame Warner if JL had been 100% Snyder and still bombed critically and financially. Even if there were no reports of studio interference, they probably would still say there were. Or else they'd just insist the movie was perfect and anyone who doesn't care for it doesn't like Snyder's "mature" superhero universe.

Oh that's easy. The thratrical cut. Instead of the Zaddy cut, they would shouting about the Extended cut right now.

They blamed Goyer.

"Snyder can be great with the right script" was a popular saying back in the day. First time I heard anyone say that about a director...the guy who, above anyone else in the creative process, is ultimately the difference between a film being good or bad.

He had Chris Nolan and David Goyer wrote a story for him, and the film still turned out mediocre. In hindsight, the only reason MOS isn't as bad as BvS is probably because Nolan and Goyer were involved.

Ah, yeah that makes sense. Goyer is something of an easy target because he's a bad director and has written some bad screenplays, but he's also been involved with good stuff too (the TDK trilogy), so if anyone was to blame for the problems with MOS, I'm sure it was Snyder. Hell, I've seen a gif of him smiling gleefully while acting out the neck snap scene. I think that sums up all you need to know about Snyder's take on these heroes. "Our Superman kills because he's a badass! And so does Batman! And check out Aquaman... he's not that lame *****e from Super Friends! He's a metal god with a pitchfork!"

I feel like Snyder's approach to the DC universe is a 13-year-old kid trying to sell his friends on why superheroes are cool.

Hot damn, I'm happy to see Bale winning but was not expecting it to see it this one-sided.

I swear, if this poll was conducted in 2015, it probably would've been much closer even though BvS hadn't even been released. That's how strong the Batfleck thirst was around here.

Amazing what two bad movies can do...

Ben actually won this poll from 2016:

Ben heavily benefited from being the shiny new toy, IMO.

Wow. That's sad. But hey, Ben Affleck's stunt double threw guys around a warehouse faster than Bale's did, so he's clearly the one true Batman to some people, lol.

I think it’s a bit strong to say JL sucked or was terrible. I personally found it to be a fun movie. Not good, but fun. It’s more in the MOS area of being not as good as it should have been.

All that said, I think there’s a tendency to have a mob mentality against certain movies these days and I think JL and Star Wars have fell victim to this phenomenon. And by extension so has Affleck. There were certain scenes with him that I thought gave us a version of Bruce which was tremendous. I loved JL showing him working on his bat-vehicles and WW coming in to see him nursing wounds. He did a good job of embodying the mortal amongst gods aspect of the character. I also love the opening scene of BvS with Affleck running into the carnage while everyone else was fleeing. In many ways Affleck showed some insights into who Bruce is.

But in the end, Bale was better.

Yeah. For BvS, the scapegoat was "studio interference".

But there was no studio interference with BvS though? We've seen BvS UC and it's still a piece of ****. I would never waste my time to watch it again. Incoherent, shoddy looking, boring film.

BvS UC is his vision. And yeah, it wasn't a good movie.

Bale

I really liked Affleck in BvS but Bale is still clearly superior.
If there’s anything that Batfleck has over BaleMan, it’s fight choreography.

3 full movies of Bale while 2 movies where Batfleck wasn't the star it is kind of hard to gauge properly.

Bale had more suaveness and pathos as Wayne, so this is an easy choice.

If one's counting characterization, Bale also wins as Batman.

As an aesthetically engaging performance, I'd actually go with Affleck as Batman, but I haven't seen JL yet.
