Better Class Of Toyline (Official: Movie Masters Thread)

Holy ****...$35 + shipping for the TRU exclusive...
Yeah its a little pricey but its Toys R Us and considering i bought both the regular dark knight version and the unmasked for $29.99 each this aint to bad. Plus its the Joker and it may be the last Movie Masters related product we get at a retail price.

Im sure Mattel will just be announcing that they will become mattycollector.com exclusive....they will just go the easy route and slap them on mattycollector for $20.00 bucks a pop plus shipping.

If this is the case, I will be a bit more selective...most likely skipping the battle-damaged Bats and the Suit Scarecrow to start.

I'll wait for an official announcement from Mattel.

I would too like to hear more confirmation or a statement from Mattel.

Holy ****...$35 + shipping for the TRU exclusive...

Yeah, that's too much for me. It's nice, but I may wait and see if they linger on shelves long enough for a sale price.

We've waited this long for news of any sort, what's another month...:whatever:
Comicon opens July 23rd.

Man they sucked the fun out this line.

I hope these are still on I realy want that Harvey Dent movie master so I dont have to spend a tone of cash buying a second body and a anther suit to make a Harvey Dent with my Hottoys stuff... Im happy with just a Hottoys TwoFace for now... Maybe some time down the line I will buy things to compelet Harvey but its going to be later rather then sooner for me...

I can't believe they let this line fail so hard, this had to be the most profitable line they've had in a long time. It's rare that their toys make it into mainstream news, but the Joker figures were for awhile. I spend many sleepless nights wondering how Mattel functions so strangely

You all can thank Warner Bros. marketing department for awarding them the license because they thought Mattel would do such a better job than Kenner/Hasbro did for 10 years. Not sure what it was. Maybe how they let the number 1 girls line, Barbie, fall to number 2 under Bratz, or how they destroyed the He Man line. They did the exact same thing to the Batman license that they did with MOTU. Thanks Mattel!!

it's quite sickening to think about it...#1 movie of 2008,critically acclaimed,Academy Award winner, arguably the #2 box-office movie of all time...

and we got a total of 5 figures from it (7,if you include the chases) ,and 2 of those are from the LAST f**king movie!

there was,and still is,quite a hunger for TDK merchandise in the collector's community (see Hot Toys) ,and Mattel just, just fumbled the ball away...

now, see,i CAN excuse them at the beginning...they truly got caught with their pants down,as MM was meant to be a limited release collector's item, and once it went nuclear, they DID do all they could to get more out to the masses...problem was the way they absolutely DRAGGED ass in getting anything new out there...these should've been out again starting in January (like originally solicited) ,to tie into the DVD release, and the still hotness that was TDK....instead it's going on July, and still nothing, other than cryptic messages of the line's fate being revealed at SDCC,where most likely they will become mattycollector.com exclusives (whatever they DO put out) ,and with shipping you're probably looking at about $20 - $25 a pop......joy...

like it or not the line is dead...we''ll be lucky to get any of the scheduled figures released ,though if i was betting i'd say they might release just Two-Face (they know there's a HUGE demand for him)...i decided not to wait for them, and i'm glad i didn't,and make my own, custom figures of some of the ones suppossedly coming out ( Final Battle Batman,Arkham Asylum Joker,Two-Face,Jail Cell Joker, Bank Robbery Joker( ,and even some i figured we'll never get (Ducard).....i actually just made 2 new customs, and i'll post pics when i get my camera back from my dad (Watabe Ra's and Gordon) ,but it's sad when i look at my TDK collection and actually count what's there:

14 figures - six Mattel, EIGHT customs!

i should not have more custom figures than actual releases, but thanks to Mattel i do...but i guess i can thank them for getting me back into the whole customizing bug...but it shouldn't have had to come to that in the first place...

wow, i dont have the recources, ive got all but the chases, and a few extra goons for customs, a headless gordon, and a bane im working on

yeah,Thug bodies are good for an all purpose, basic custom (and since nearly everyone in both BB and TDK wears suits)...my custom Two-Face,Ducard,Bank Robbery Joker,Arkham Asylum Scarecrow, and Gordon all use a Thug base body...planned on at least 1 more (Bruce Wayne) ,but since we don't even know if the Proto-Suit Bats is coming out,i might not have a head for him....

necessity is the mother of all invention,my friend...i just got so sick and tired of waiting for Mattel to fill in my Bats collection,i said F-em and did it myself...

what head did you use for gordon? ducard, and two face?

Two-Face,i used the 5" 'Face head....i just cut the neck part off, hollowed out the head with a drill, and superglued it on and painted it up...

Ducard....used a Batman: Hush series 2 Superman head, just repainted it....

Gordon,i used a Kirk head from the 6" line for the new Trek movie...i cut the neck off of the Thug body, then cut the neck on Kirk to scale it down to look okay, then painted the head a bit (mustache, some grey in the temples),and glued on the glasses that came with the Commissioner Gordon figure from Batman:Hush series 3...

not the best pics (my friend has my good camera til tomorrow,so i pulled out the super-crap one) ,but it'll give you at least an idea of what i did,til i post better pics...

so until finished with these diaromas catch ya later

mikey, are you on the figurerealm? you 'face looks familiar.

thanks for all the kind words....

yep, made them all myself...for the most part, they started off with me being severely pissed, around the time TDK hit DVD in December...i was sitting there, being mad that there was still no MM Two-Face figure..i had already made a custom in the summer, from a DCSH Clark Kent body and a ML Lomgshot head, but i already knew i wanted to upgrade 'Face,as he stood a good inch taller than the rest of the MM figures,so i found another Thug in the fall, and was going to use that as the in-scale base body...but i was sitting here at my computer, and was looking at the 5" Two-Face i had tacked on the wall, thinking how the likeness was pretty decent on him...then i noticed just how friggin huge his noggin was compared to the rest of the 5" line, thinking if it was a little bigger it would probably be in MM scale...then for *****s & giggles i put him next to one of the MM figures for comparisons sake, and was floored as i discovered the head was almost EXACTLY in scale with the MM figures, and my fertile mind went to work from there...:woot:

my only complaint is,since i am not a professional at this,a lot of joints on them don't move, due to having to repaint most of the figures (mainly the head, elbows, and knees)....

still pissed that they never released that Target-exclusive 2-pack of Two-Face and Harvey Dent,as i had plans to use the Dent head for a custom MM Harvey....

Just a heads up for all of you variation hunters out there. I went to my local toys r us this morning and the put out the 12inch MM joker. Out of 10 of these jokers only 1 had him holding a knife and the other 9 had him holding the joker playing card. The joker i received from ordering it online also had the knife. So this is kind of a strange variation but cool non the less. So collectors start your hunting because they have hit toys r us stores.

does it still have that super smeared paint job around the eyes?

I was there about 20 minutes ago picking up "on clearance" a Hulk and Abomination and yes, it's exactly as you saw it in the picture, didn't look too bad though, the ones at my store had the knife

I really didnt think that it looked bad at all either. That's interesting that your store had the figure with the knife and not the joker playing card. Im assuming this is purposely done for some odd reason.

I dont think it looks as smeared as in the pictures. Its a very nice looking piece in person and hard to pass up especially considering all the crap going on with the Movie Masters line. After tax it came out to $37.96 which isnt all that bad considering there are probably worse toys out there that are double the price. Obviously it ain't no Hot Toys Joker but its also not $200.00 dollars.
