Better Class Of Toyline (Official: Movie Masters Thread)

I stopped by my old toy r us, and they had plenty of tdk figs, wierd, I think it is privately owned though.

Infact I picked up sonar bats, which I think was not done very good, also I picked up boondock saints figs, ufc figs(chuck Liddell and royce Gracie), crazy what kids have that weren't there ten years ago.

Stopped by my local toys r us this afternoon after work cause i had an itching feeling there was something there and i was able to score my extra Business Suit Scarecrow and Sonar Bats!!!! These were the last two i needed to complete my loose MM collection. Movie Masters are now complete!!! An entire collection sealed and a set Loose.

It seems as though there is a new case breakdown just so you guys know. Looks like x1 scarecrow
x1 sonar bats
x1 jail cell joker
x1 two face.

not a bad case at all. If anyone lives in Goodyear, AZ there were 2 two-face figures left hanging "damaged packages on both however" 2 jail cell jokers and 1 each of sonar bats and scarecrow, i grabbed the other two. Looks as though they got in 2 cases total.

was wondering what the sonar / Scarecrow case packout was....

so,basically,it's:

Case #1:

Two-Face
Jail Cell Joker
Harvey Dent
Prototype Suit Bruce Wayne

Case #2:

Two-Face
Jail Cell Joker
Final Battle Batman
Arkham Asylum Scarecrow

don't forget, Two-Face goes on sale monday....

the end has come....

i snagged a BRJ on ebay,so he should arrive sometime next week...

with that,my collection will be complete..all loose, but i wanted to open them anyway...kinda in a "reminiscing" mode today, probably cause it's May,the sun is out,the temperature is getting warm, and i can fondly remember running around for these things like crazy 2 years ago....then finding series 2 in early july at WM,as a total surprise (even the Demon Bats chase)....i never go to Target, but i sure as damned hell made the run for the Bat-Pod ....hell,i even travelled 50 miles to get the 12" Joker exclusive...when i found a chase Unmasked Batman in October,i assumed my collecting these was done...of course,i was wrong! :awesome:

now, though,i know it IS done, and i am glad it's over, but also sad it's over....i really thought they'd at least make a Bruce Wayne in the line (seriously, easiest "new" figure they could make - they literally have EVERY part needed),or perhaps a 12" Two-Face TRU exclusive....but alas,it's over....

hopefully,if they still have the licence in 2 years, they'll be better prepared for 3atman....

I too am sad Mikey that its all coming to an end now. Have to admit with all of the stress the line caused early on... it defintely was fun. I guess its all part of the chase.

Hopefully it will continue in some way or form at least until the next batman film. And as far as your earlier post goes, yes those are the breakdowns for the two cases going to toys r us.

Just bought my Two-Face.

I ebay'd a Survival Suit Bruce last week, so last night a customed a Joker Goon by painting his under shirt white, cutting off bow tie, painting hands a skin color and then popped on Bruce's head. I have a awesome C. Bale Bruce Wayne 6" now then...

I'll upload pics later today...

Here is my overall list of Movie Masters;

01. Batpod
02. Bruce Wayne
03. TDK Batman (w/ custom cape)
04. Survival Suit (no head, haha so I might turn into Firefly or something)
05. Two-Face
06. Jail Cell Joker (w/ custom make up, blood, etc...)
07. Joker (w/ custom make up)
08. Goon 1 (normal *has a handgun)
09. Goon 2 (painted a different mask, shirt, shoes *has a shotgun)
10. Goon 3 (painted a different mask, shirt, shoes *has an uzi)
11. Goon 4 (painted a different mask, shirt, shoes *has a rifle)
12. Scarecrow (Arkham)

I want to buy a couple more goons to make an Alfred and a Commissioner Gordon. I really don't know how to get a human like head for both...

So, will probably just carve down the goon head or a Harvey head (if I cave and buy one of those) to a Gordon & Alfred head the best that I can.

It's been an epic 2 years of this...

bought Two Face today off mattycollector

the figure i was most looking for and it will finally be in my hands two years later

better late than never

with Two Face, my list of Batman MM figures now frows to 3! :woot:

- Batman (Dark Knight suit)
- Joker
- Two Face :word:

didn't really care for the rest, though i might pick up Scarecrow and unmasked Batman

I went to buy Two-Face yesterday and he was already sold out, the one figure i'd been waiting for for so long. If anyone is ever able to pick one up at a Toys R' Us let me know because I would definitely pay to have one and I highly doubt I'll ever find one myself

I just picked up Joker from the Interrogation scene and I am happy that I finally have this in my collection I'm annoyed I had to pay $12 for something we've had to wait so long for. Thanks for throwing me a bone Mattel:whatever:

I think I just got lucky...
Bought two interrogation jokers and one Harvey dent(sad there wasn't a two face)
The lady rang me up for the clearance price of $4.98...$16 for all three!
I've been out of the MM loop for a bit...is the dent figure the chase figure?
Any one want to buy an interrogation joker?

no...initially,Dent was the chase figure for Series 4 (Two-Face,Bank Robbery Joker wave),but once it went matty (and TRU) exclusive, they just made him available to everyone...

Just picked up another Two-Face at my TRU and finished my collection! Too bad it was 12 bucks cause they got hip to the game and changed the sign, but oh well. It's finally over. Still want a R'as tho...

whatever happed to Mattel supposedly wanting to expand the Batman MM figures from other films??

i still would love to have a Keaton Batman figure (both '89 and Returns :word:)

I think that was just the sculptors talking "what ifs" way back when the protos for this line was being revealed during the cons. I honestly believe that it was never going to happen.

Same thing occured whn Mattel first got the Batman license. Toyfare did an interview with the 4 Horsemen and they were saying how they wanted to do characters such as Batmite and even go into the Batman beyond universe because they felt there was so much potential there that Kenner never played upon. Guess what, Mattel didnt either.

You know LoL....I was just thinking I love Batman. I love action figures. I loved the 1989 Batman Tim Burton movie so much. When the figures came out I didn't even think twice about how 'movie accurate' they were...it was the packaging that sold it for me....I never really questioned...I was always like "Sure! These are the movie figures!" I have been collecting action figures for about 20 some odd years and I have seen the evolution OF the action figure...what it can be, what a truly beautifully designed action figure can be (i.e. Terminator 2 NECA action figures)

..now some figures vary in degrees of detail and accuracy if they are based off of say a movie property. Even though Mattels 6-inch movie based Dark Knight figures aren't really in the same league of detail as say, NECAs T2 figures...they are still a great size, have great articulation, great sculpting and are just damn fun to play with.

When Batman Begins came out I was for sure...FOR SURE thinking I'd see some decent, accurate/sculpted movie based figures in a good size. We got ****. Bad ****. All the years growing up after Burtons Batman longing for decent figures to be made off of the Batman films and Mattel blows it.

THEN "The Dark Knight" comes out...with two of my most favourite villains in ONE Batman film..together--The Joker & Two Face. I was sooo happy but bummed at the same time thinking we'd get the same crap Mattel gave us earlier with "Batman Begins". THEN...thhhhhen we get the beautiful Batman 6-inch Movie Masters line. I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. I remember I snuck upstairs at my old job at the sex shop (...solid job by the way) I used work at ..went onto my boss's computer and logged on to this very forum and saw what was the most beautiful Batman movie action I had ever seen, along with a Joker Goon. I had the biggest smile on my face. Finally...finally the fans were going to get something that had been absent all the years--REAL Batman movie action figures. None of this 4 inch non accurate garbage or figures with stupid gimmicks or whatever, but a full line.

Now fast forward, it's been 2 years. 2....friggin....years since The Dark Knight came out. And in that 2 years I have been on the biggest pissed off slash happy slash pissed off slash disappointed slash ..pissed off rollar coaster with these figures because of Mattel. They are just toys? Yes, sure...pieces of plastic nothing to get upset over I get it...I understand...but I can't help it LoL...they mean so much to me..its for the little kid in me and the adult collector in me to get all of these 6 inch Movie Master action figures (and Batpod which is just friggin' awesome!)and Mattel has not made it easy to get them. And for that I am very upset at this company.

Agreed I don't understand the exact reasoning behind why it's been such a tumultous, ardous long, hard friggin' road to get the figures: from lead paint scares, to recalls, to cancellations to MattyCollector and their ******** SOLD OUT banner across many of the figures I tried to get, waiting for figures because they were pushed back, or waiting every MONTH to high prices to eBay and the ****ing scalpers to comic shops paying through the nose for these figures...it's been a road that I can't say I am too fond of. However I just recently purchased my last figure I needed. Two Face Harvey Dent. And I can't tell you just how happy I am to have him come to my house so I can rip him out of the package and have him re-create the hospital scene with my Jailcell Joker (which is an WICKED action figure..so detailed and SMOKES the 1st Joker) and have him fight Batman (...yes yes I know they didn't fight in the movie but..I'm going to make them fight! :D).

I know that if I was able to go back in time to the summer of '89 August when my father took my brother and I to see Batman...and show myself all of the complete "Dark Knight" 6-inch Movie Masters action figures along with the Batpod...I'd go ballistic LoL. So it's been bitter sweet and now it's over.

Hopefully now...or when I get my Two Face figure..I can finally unclench my arse and relax LoL.

I really wanted a Gordon figure, Bruce Wayne, Ra's Al, Ducard, Ducards Ninja Goon figures....but I am happy I got a decent Dark Knight line..and even though we don't have a suited up Bruce Wayne figure, I'm glad I got the Survival Suit Bruce..a Harvey Dent figure...Joker with Rocket Launcher, 2 different Goons, Batman in his Dark Knight armor, Scarecrow (2 versions..even though some moron let him slide with a bolo tie) and again...the Batpod. I'm very glad.

Just wanted to share what I was thinkin' to anyone who cared in this forum..just a shout out to my fellow collector brothers who maybe share similar feelings or can look back at all the good and bad times with this line.

Anyways good luck to everyone out there trying to get their action figures, I hope you get every one you want :)

P.S.--I really hope Mattel doesn't end up being a bunch of *****ebags with the Movie Masters Green Lantern action figure line! :)

Dude! I can not tell you how much i agree with you and your statement of how frustrated/ pissed off/ happy/ pissed off/ this whole line has been lol. But in the end no matter how pissed off Mattel made me i am still very happy like you that we finally received movie accurate batman figures. Yes i would have liked more but obviously Mattel was not prepared what so ever for the popularity of this line. Although i dont see how they didnt see it coming. Its as though they were living under this very large rock and didnt realize all of the Dark Knight viral marketing going on and let alone the anticipation of this movie. Just dont get it and i guess they didnt either.

However i really dont think Mattel will make this same mistake twice or should i say a third time. Like you said i really hope they dont screw up a potentially amazing MM line for Green Lantern and then of course the potentially amazing MM line for the third Batman film. I suppose i'll just keep crossing my fingures in hopes that they keep their heads out of their asses this time around.

100 % agree with both of you....

this was THE line for me in 2008 ....once i knew they were coming,i was stoked....i got lucky - i found all of Series 1 (minus Unmasked Chase) on May 1st at TRU...then,again,in July, finding all of Series 2 (including Bat-Demon Chase)...then,nothing....for nearly 2 years,nothing....i aticpated when we were shown the pictures of the upcoming Series 3,4,and 5 - only to watch them disappear....then to see them at scalper prices on matty.com sank my heart (and i did not buy even ONE figure from them,i refused)...i do admit some joy at finding the recent releases at TRU (especially at the clearance prices),but my excitement for the overall line had waned by that point...i look at my figures - 12 figures and 2 Chases - and realize this should've have been the 2008 lineup, not the WHOLE F**KING LINE! and i just realize how badly Mattel blew this line....from inception - with low production numbers, to distribution - recall anyone?, to overall legacy - producing new stuff after stores and collector's no longer give a s**t , shows me that they had no real long term plans for this line....a couple quick figures, and done....and they got caught with their pants down, and scrambled to make up for lost time, figures, and money, but it was too late, the damge was done, and the line faded away,to where it's now finished....

i PRAY that when 3atman comes out,we not only have a continuation of these (and in the same scale,so we can expand our collections) ,but that they learned from their mistakes and produce enough characters and figures to satiate everyone....but,if they can't (or won't) ,then i pray that they lose the licence before then, and someone picks it up and gives us an all-encompassing Bat-film line we deserve...NECA is firing on all cylinders right now, they'd be perfect ,but i imagine the licensing fees might be too much (though they did get Harry Potter)....

also, got both of these on Thursday from TRU...

000_3011.jpg

one of them is most likely spoken for...the other,i'm waiting to see if the deal goes through...if not,i'll let you guys know, and see who wants it...

Agreed with everything you guys have said, I to hope that either Mattel gets their **** together for the 3rd Batman and makes up for this fiasco with a definitive collection of the Batman films (B89 and Returns if they REALLY wanna make up for it an kiss our asses) or someone else get the rights and make them equally as good looking while not as headache inducing to attain.

UPDATE:

My god your weren't kidding in your PM his eye is HUGE

I just noticed his neck isn't burned and that really chaps my ass!!

yeah, the quality is different than the first one i found....interestingly enough, these ones have more black on his face than mine did,yet the eye is kinda screwed up,and less red on the neck...one like that is a factory mistake, but two?

wonder if this is the quality coming from the matty.com orders?

we'll never get a Nicholson Joker as long as he's alive...i've talked to several toy company owners/COO"s on other boards, and they all say the same thing:he will not sign off on his likeness, whther it be the Joker,Jake from Chinatown,or even Wolf...it's not a matter of money - he just won't do it....best we can hope for is a Brando situation where the estate will sign it over after he dies...

DeVito's Penguin i guess is possible,he didn't want it used for the BR line because he didn't want kids to play with such a creepy and perverted character, buth e DID allow it to be used for an Applause doll....so maybe he'll sign off on some "collectible" toy stuff....

It does seem as though Mattel is having a bit of a quality control issue for sure. The first 2 two-face figures i found at toys r us definitely had a lot more black on his burned side. Since then the more i find at toys r us the lighter they look. Also the scarred coin is darker with some two-face figures then some are not dark at all.

Out of 3 local toys r us stores the one closest to my house seems to be the store with the most MM's. How about you guys? Are there pegwarmers already at your local toys r us stores? It looks like scarecrow and sonar bats are the pegwarmers but we already knew that would happen. Also surprisingly there are quite a few Jail Cell Jokers sitting as well. Two-Face of course is the popular one. Also i havent seen a Proto Suit Bats or Harvey in about 3 weeks.
