Beware the Batman

Not really, no.

They spent very little time on the harming animals bit. The land deal could have easily been opposed by Ivy who could have feared for the plant life. The motivations were glossed over to a degree. You can't really judge if this was a worthwhile change or not at this point.

I will say that the personalities and look of Pyg and Toad are both interesting. Maybe that alone justified the change because the original versions wouldn't be allowed on the show I mean certainly Ivy would be much different in terms of personality.

Only real difference is methods.

Not to mention personalities, gimmicks, dynamic with Batman, and even then, their motivations are different (animals vs. plants)

Neither can you, then.

Pretty much. It's not just their motivations, but their personality and dynamic that are different and Ivy wouldn't do without a major change to her. I mean, Poison Ivy and Ra's al Ghul are also both eco-terrorists, but you wouldn't exchange their roles in stories featuring them.

Not to mention Pyg can still be used in a manner similar to his comic version. He's shown to have a "doctor" gimmick with him. He can make a point about animal testing and modification by kidnapping people and...you get my point.

I did not like the portrayal of Anarky at all, i'll make another post with more thoughts and comparisons with how i'm okay with Pyg's portrayal but why i felt BETRAYAL with Anarky.

I'm...undecided about his portrayal. Is an extreme anarchist that just happens to want a rivalry with Batman? Or a rival who took a twisted version of anarchy as means to oppose him?

But yeah, though I enjoyed the episode, it wasn't because of Anarky.

I don't know I liked Anarky. I've only had a small encounter with him in the comics (via Red Robin) so I only knew the surface material but overall I thought he was ok.

I was confused at first by his costume but when he explained the chess game (white king vs. black king) it all became clear. Could he have been more menacing? Sure. But for an opening salvo it was pretty cool. And much like Magpie he could go toe-to-toe with Batman.

Also did anyone notice Katana's sword? Glowing green? Interesting.

I immediately thought of Kryptonite when I saw that sword. Probably not, though.

Wasn't a fan of the villain today but everything else was awesome.

CGI action scenes were entertaining
Batman intelligence shown
Pretty badass Batmobile and Bat Tech.

I don't know Anarky from outside the show and I still thought he was bland. I felt he could have done more to be chaotic than use two street punks.

What made the episode great was the development with the girl driver. I also loved the batmobile, batcycle designs. It so nice to see sleek gear as opposed to the chunky stuff from the Nolan movies.

Yeah the Bat-vehicles were cool. Especially the bike that transformed into the flyer.

Tatsu's arc is going to be interesting that's for sure.

I do agree that Anarky should have use better thugs than those "artistic" guys. Oh well maybe next time.

Those guys were Dadaleus (Doodlebug) and Junkyard Dog. They were also the taggers that Batman briefly stopped in last week's episode. They were forgettable, but were nice nods.

That Bat-Cycle/Glider was cool. If that is going to be a toy, then this is how you do product placement. It makes sense, it appears, and it does what it does, no need to point out how KEWL it is or try to justify it.

Next week's episode is Katana-centered, so we should be finding out more about her, particularly what I think is the Soul-Taker sword she has hidden.

Anarchy was kind of a disappointment.

I thought he was supposed to be Batman's equal but he comes off more like an amateur.

Episode 3, "Tests" was decent. Not the best so far, but I definitely like the show. It's gotta be ranked at least 4 or 5 out of the cartoons on the air right now.

Anarky's voice didn't bother me. But I feel he is a weak character so far. Not just as a threat either. His characterization was slightly weak. B villain at best.

@Asgard says it best above. ^

I like all the new villains. Though it could be said that Ep. 1 could have been easily redone with Ivy, Ep 2 with Catwoman and Ep 3 with Joker. But that doesnt bother me all that much. Not yet at least.

While I thought using the two goofs as his implements of chaos was lame, I liked Anarky and all of the stuff with him, Batman and the cable cars. My favourite episode of the 3.

I found the two goofs more entertaining than Anarky, who was pretty generic by himself. :oldrazz: Liked the parts revolving around Alfred, Tatsu, and Batman.

So far I've found the first three episodes rather mediocre. The only part keeping me interested is the Tatsu / Katana storyline, but even that will get old if they keep dragging it along slowly. . .

Don't get me wrong, the episodes aren't awful, they just aren't that great either.

I beg to differ, I find them to be pretty great so far. Really loving this portrayal of Batman

Even though the series is ok, its really stunning how subpar it is in quality when compared to Green Lantern: TAS.

To be honest, that show started pretty mediocre too.

I seem to be alone in thinking it's a bit overrated as well. Not bad, but not worthy of all the hype either.

It always takes a while for the internet community to fully accept the new shows. Young Justice and GLTAS weren't born hits, heck, i would say there is more talk about GLTAS after it ended, then when it was actually happening.

Brave and Bold for mainstream fans, some had to wait till the Joker episodes to accept the outrageousness, some till Chill of the Night and some never even watched it but still complain about it on the internet lol. :b

I like Beware the Batman as I think it has great potential, especially with how they're handling Katana who was my biggest question mark coming in.

I loved Batman Brave and the Bold. Mayhem of the Music Meister is still one of my favorite Batman episodes full stop.

Just finished ep 3 and I feel each ep so far has gone from strength to strength. The presentation of Batman and his methods is about as ideal as it can get for me.

I somewhat agree that the villains plots and schemes could have just as easily worked with more well known characters. But the execution is top notch so I don't realy mind. Though they had better do something very creative to further Anarky's character. He did give off avibe of being Moon Knight crossed with The Joker. That being said, it was a good episode.

"Tests" was the least good episode so far for me.

It's quite good so far, but I'm still unsure if this series will really take off for me or not.

I didn't care much for this episode. I had never heard of Anarky before learning he'd be on the show. I assumed he'd be Batman's equal, but nope. Since CA had that article about the characters from the poster and said he was a teen in the comics, it makes me wonder if this guy is one too or an early young adult.
