Black Panther: Wakanda Forever General Discussion and Speculation Thread

Social media is a cesspool anyways, so it shouldn't matter how they feel about the movie. Besides, there are probably movies that we like that the critics didn't. I know I have a few.

Me seeing Tenoch Huerta's arrogant Namor in WF:

Really enjoyed this. Where the first movie left me feeling hyper this movie left me feeling at calm and at peace. Namors fight scenes in the air were soooo good.
Great to hear on Namor. Also that sounds appropriate for a film that is also a tribute to Chadwick.

Really enjoyed it. Thought it was a very well made film and managed a difficult situation as well as could be. More sombre and serious than the average MCU film but that’s appropriate in the situation. I’m more a fan of Coogler everyday.

Yup and it’s refreshing. Even as someone who liked Thor L&T and MoM the tone of WF is needed.

I enjoyed both of those as well but I’d also prefer them to be a bit more serious. Especially with the MCU where the average level is orientated to comedy/witty comebacks a little bit too far over drama for my ideal. Make outright comedies like Guardians sure, but in the others keep much of the wit and comedy but know when to rein it in. It’s also good for variety to get a bunch of more serious films that have comedy but more restrained and the jokes placed more strategically for good laughs without ruining drama/tension.

E-Man from Eman's Movie Reviews on YouTube is the person who started the #RecastT'Challa movement. He sits down with Nate Moore (the 4th person in charge of the MCU) and producer of Wakanda Forever for his comments on recasting.

I was disappointed by how basic the popcorn bucket was for this in my movie theater. I know Disney doesn't necessarily control that but Thor L&F had such a great tin bucket as did Spider-Man. I see AMC did a dope one that im jealous i dont have

Still on the post movie high but right now I liked Wakanda Forever better than Black Panther. Having seen the movie with a rather old audience during the holiday afternoon there wasn't much audience reaction except the mourning of he loss of characters. Especially when I compare it to the big audience pop, at the same theater when the Wakanda place maker came up during Infinity War.

I watched it. First movie was better imo but the action scenes are better in WF. Boseman's absence is definitely felt.

So okay.....Boseman's presence was missing in this film, which if he had lived during shooting of the film, would have made this movie better than the first one. However, they did a better job with the antagonists in this one, as I wasn't a fan of Ryan Coogler killing Klaue early in the first movie. Plus, I like Riri Williams, looking forward to her in her series. While lacking Chadwick, it does have more emotion than the first one. While I thought the first one was better, to me at least, the gap in quality isn't as deep as it is in Love and Thunder as compared to Ragnarok (and I liked both movies, just Ragnarok was a lot better) and Multiverse of Madness compared to Doctor Strange (I enjoyed MOM but the first film was a lot better).

Great to see.

Hopefully word of mouth is good in that case.

As I have stated in my last post, they handled the antagonists better in this one than in the first one and I thought that Klaue should have lasted a few more movies, or at least be still alive at the end of the first movie to pop up somewhere else in the future

This movie was phenomenal! Boseman's presence was definitely missed but this was such a poignant tribute to him without taking the shine away from the remaining cast members. Seeing a group of Black women leading a superhero movie was just amazing to see. Leticia Wright was perfection as the lead! And Namor as the villain was such a gigantic improvement over Killmonger from the first movie.

Going to see if again tonight but probably my favorite movie and story from this phase.

I wonder how much this changed from the original story before Chadwick’s passing. Namor was still the villain. RiRi was probably still there.

Queen Ramonda probably still died

I have a feeling the original story was more “paint by numbers” like MoM was about protecting someone and the unfortunate turn of events made it more interesting.

For me it brought up feelings of grief that I didn't even know that I had because I lost my brother a couple of years back

Very sorry to hear.
