Stand-Alone Movies BOBA FETT and Young HAN SOLO Spin-Offs Being Planned?

If marvel/disney can't get a Wolverine movie right, what hope is there for a Boba Fett movie? I think his character would be far better served with a really good game, ala Arkham City meets Splinter Cell meets GTA. It would be open world with vehicle travel, side quests (bounties), equipment and skills progression and could span his entire career.

A movie about him would have to be dark and gritty and that's not what either Marvel or Disney is about so I have no hope of anything they do being more than a cash-grab. If they did do it, they'd have to go the route of "Blade" and go full "R" rating and not hold back. Then he might get the film he deserves. And no, he should never take his helmet off, but if he does I'd suggest he's played by the following actors: Stephen Lang, Hugo Weaving or Willem Dafoe. They all have non-conventional looks and the acting chops to pull of the stone-cold demeanor of the character. Plus, if Hugo Weaving did the voice... pure bad***ery.

I'm curious to see when this movie takes place. Is it set during Bobba's teenage years? Is it an adventure set in between the OT films? Or could it possibly even take place post-ROTJ. And yes, this rumor seems pretty legit to me, Schnepp has no reason to lie about this.

I just hope it is good. They really, really need to get the tone right. If they are going to make these stand alones they need to stand alone. Not just in their style, but their intent. This needs to be the gritty bounty hunter movie it should be.

1. He's got a really cool visual design.
2. He's one of the most competent antagonists in the OT (his lame death excluded).
3. He's very mysterious. You know he's a ruthless badass, Vader said his "no disintegration" line while looking AND pointing at Boba specifically. That tells you something about him, if even a Sith lord who will force-choke his own lackeys to death for not doing their paperwork exactly right, recognizes his ruthlessness and brutality. And yet, we DON'T know much about him, which kind of makes him even more intimidating.

Even though it makes sense for him to sound like Jango I agree, the original voice sounded a lot better.

Good points on the first and especially the third here. Though I still think his body could be brought up in size... he looks a little effeminate to my eye. There, I said it.

How he tracked him by exiting through the garbage chute showed how he out-clevered Han, which is a pretty big feat. Even though I'm pretty biased, you could provide more examples of how cunning he can be in his movie.

And I agree with you though that they could "bulk" him up abit as he looked kinda slender in the OT. And as much as I'd prefer him to never take off his helmet, knowing it's Disney and their incessant NEED to always show their actors faces, I still stand by wanting Manu Bennett as him.

So, I know a lot of people don't trust Latino Review, but if this is true, I'm done, and if Disney allows it, I don't trust them with the franchise one bit. Say what you will about Lucas, I love the prequels and don't have a problem with the man, but at least he knew where he wanted some of his characters to end up. This sound slike a travesty.

Strap in, a lot of you aren’t going to like this.
To counter-act the prequels, the Boba Fett spin-off movie planned for 2018 has an interesting twist pitched by Episode VII writer Lawrence Kasdan: the spin-off will start with a complete stranger killing Boba Fett and taking his armor, starting a Man-With-No-Name bounty hunter tale. So: someone kills the Boba Fett from the prequels and takes his armor and name. One this is for certain is that Kasdan didn’t like the prequel and wants no Bobba Fett Clone in the spin-off film.
Sounds a lot like a Western and it sounds like it could restore a fan-favorite character that was totally a little boy with thousands of versions of his father running around. Or it could just be a lot of stupid rib-elbowing about this stranger doomed to fall into a Sarlaac pit in the most anti-climatic franchise exit ever.
Lastly I was told by 3 sources, reps etc, etc…(so call who ever you want) that Captain American director Joe Johnston is on top of the list to direct the spin-off, which makes sort of sense since he began his career as a concept artist and effects technician on the first Star Wars film. REMEMBER NOW before you all go and say he’s directing the project, I never said he has the job, just that he’s on top of the list, lets get that perfectly clear.

Holy s***, that sounds f***ing horrible. Jango Fett & the clones were one of the few good things about the prequels, if they take that away from Boba I will be pissed.

Is this id theft supposed to happen before or after the OT? If before then it is indeed a contradiction.

The problem you'd likely run into though would be the question of why this other person would want to use Boba Fett's name. Off the top of my head, I can only think of two situations, really - either the guy is some random, no-name schmuck who is trying to benefit off Boba Fett's reputation rather than work to earn it himself (which would undermine the character we see in the OT) or it's someone who is trying to conceal his identity (in which case, it's his original identity that is more important than the "Boba Fett" one).

Secondly, it makes the situation needlessly convoluted for little to no benefit.



As such, I think a better idea for a "Boba Fett" spinoff would be to simply make a "Bounty Hunters" TV series. You could set it either shortly after RotJ or around the time of the new trilogy; with the premise of the main characters (including Boba Fett) hunting down Imperial war criminals for the victorious Rebel Alliance.

This way, even if an identity switch is felt to have been necessary to further develop the character, the longer run time provides us more time to grow attached to the character prior to the reveal while the ensemble cast would de-emphasise the importance of the "Boba Fett" identity/name compared to a self-titled movie. Alternatively, the post-RotJ timeline allows Temuera Morrison to play the character.

Plus, in terms of appeal, you'd attract Star Wars fans. You'd also almost guaranteed to attract Firefly fans due to its similar premise. Plus, the general audience who'd likely give the show a shot due to the brand name.
