Borderlands 2

The Badass rank is a really cool idea. Especially that it carries over to all characters.

Now I've never played the original, just downloaded it on PSN. I've heard good things especially about the sequel.

I still have to finish a few of the add-ons of the first game. Lost interest some time ago and never got back to it. But now with Borderlands 2 on the horizon, I think I'll get back to it.

Yeah, Badass rank is a great idea. I've got one playthrough planned with my friends but since we're hardly llikely to all be available very often in the first month, I've already got my second character/playthrough planned :P

Info on the Skill Tree builder, where you can pre-build your skill tree to get an idea how you want to level your character up.

There's also a 2 hour long gameplay demo walkthrough with Randy Pitchford with new, never before seen gameplay. Minimal spoilers, most of it is just wandering through different environments kickin' ass. Maya looks pretty boss.

I think I'm gonna tackle the Gunzerker... I was planning on Zero at first but my buddy really wants to be him so...

The Gunzerker has the amazing ability of the guns automatically reload when you switch them. That is good stuff

The Badass rank and the fact that they've added a cross-character chest is going to make me try out more characters than I did in the first game. I was Roland through and through in Borderlands and only used the others to get their respective ability achievements.

Game Informer gave it a 9.75, according to a tweet by one of the editors. It was on N4G.com yesterday.

seeing that it's tomorrow the titles off. anyway that's for all those that didn't manage to pre order this. Especially since there "ain't no demo coming."

ok, I never played the 1st game, but I am kind of interested in this one.

so.......this is a FPS game? no 3rd person view?

you cannot create your own characters, but instead choose preset characters from different "classes." correct?

how does it work? do you choose 1 of the characters and play through the entire game with that character? do you switch out characters at will during the game? are you forced to play as certain characters for certain chapters?

also, can you customize the look of your selected character?

Yup, it's an FPS. I think 3rd person view is only available on PC.

You do pick from classes but each class has unique skill trees, letting you build your chosen class to any strengths you want as you progress.

This is more of an action RPG so the story isn't that heavy. It's more about killing everything, levelling up and getting items. The multiplayer is done in such a way that you or your friends can drop in or drop out of each other's games at any time, at any point in the story. You can start a new character whenever you want, but story and level progress is tied to each individual character.

I haven't looked into the customization this time around but in the first game you could just tweak colours.

You can chose from different skins and outfit selections but that's about it

this is a FPS game?

Yes. FPS/RPG hybrid.

no 3rd person view?

Nope.

Mostly correct. You don't choose a character and then a class. The characters and classes are one and the same. Salvador is the only gunzerker, Zero is the only ninja, etc.

how does it work? do you choose 1 of the characters and play through the entire game with that character? do you switch out characters at will during the game? are you forced to play as certain characters for certain chapters?

You play through the entire game as your chosen character.

also, can you customize the look of your selected character?

Yes, but not very much. In Borderlands 1, you could just swap out some colors. Borderlands 2 is a little bit better than that. You can find different skins and heads as loot.

Here is an example of the same character with different heads and skins:

hey, thanks guys!!

so, it kind of sounds like the Gauntlet games where you choose from the different "class" characters and run around and kill and loot stuff. only it's a FPS with guns and stuff.......

that Maya character is the one I'm interested in cuz she's kind of like the "mage" class. I'll have to check out the ninja guy, too.

but, you said the story is not really that important??

There was absolutely no story in the first game but it sounds like they're trying hard at making a good story for this game. It's just not the games selling point

ah, I hope there is more to the story for each character........

I might wait till the price drops a bit........but it does look very interesting.

Meet Gaige. She’s a Vault Hunter on the backwater planet of Pandora. She likes the color red. She thinks the word “Mechromancer” carries secondary definition involving lonely robot matchmaking. She travels with a hulking hunk of metal affectionately named “Death Trap.” And she’s the first previously announced (and briefly controversial) post-launch DLC coming on October 16 for Borderlands 2.

There was a great story.... you just had to read all the missions to piece it together.

I didn't care much for it. There are a bunch of interesting characters and a couple interesting side stories, but as far as the main game was concerned it was just a series of fetch quests and mass murder lol which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I didn't mind the story in BL1...However what made it fun was playing with my buds and killin' mutants and evil dudes.

Hoping the story is more "there" in this one.
