Maybe he had a route planned, but I would think he would have left the city if he was that smart. It kind of makes me uneasy that this guy is evading and possibly leading the cops.

So what exactly were they doing at MIT that initial drew the attention of the officer they killed? I mean really what set off all of this?

I figured they were probably recognized or something at MIT which is what initially caused the ruckus

This guy was mentioned in the Police scanner as the missing Brown student. That is him. Very sad as his family has been desperate to find him. oddly enough he showed up on camera end of March which is why his family knows he is alive

One suggestion is that apparently some students identified them, called the guard, and then, it all went down.

I think it's all speculation at this point though.

That would appear to be the case.

I've also read (not that that necessarily makes it true) that the naked fellow was let go.

well to be fair, they didn't have a pic of the suspect until today, and even then they weren't completely clear so the family could've have known.

Could be an accomplice or maybe it's an older photo he never updated.

Supposedly (and this is all speculation from Twitter), they held up a 7-11, shot an MIT cop, stole a car, and ended up in Watertown.

Again, speculation.

News reports that Suspect 1 with the sunglasses is dead.

Scanner: Perimeter set up. Area locked down. Falling back to command. Will do a house by house sweep. Waiting for daylight.

So if the guy isn't out by now then he is boxed in.
