Boston Marathon Terror Attack - Part 2

A person can lie when they speak too. I don't see how him not being able to speak changes much.
Yeah, and just to add a different perspective, the guy who had his legs blown off couldn't speak, but he still wrote down a description of the guy he saw. The only setback about not being able to talk is that it would take longer for the information to come out, whether it is true or not.

The difference is that guy wasn't attempting to conceal information. Its much easier to conceal information when you can't speak. You don't have to worry about letting something slip.

They should just get Jason Clarke in there to interrogate him.

Shouldn't this thread maybe be moved to 'Politics'. Just sayin, since it seems to be devolving into more of a conspiracy debate thread (a surprisingly civil one I might add :))

I highly doubt this kid has anything to conceal. He's not some trained killer who will die before he speak. He obviously fears death, and his inevitable punishment.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I dind't see your last post since I was typing mine. But you're right, there is a lost of certain tactics since the methods of interrogating would have to change. But I'm sure the know how to deal with cases like this. I doubt its the first time they've ever had to interrogate someone who can't speak.

I guess so, although I was going to mention that this thread did seem like it was derailing a bit with all of the conspiracy talk.

Exactly.

I am not sure interrogating someone who is unfit to answer sits well with international law. There might be a reasonable excuse for it if you still had a 'ticking bomb' scenario, but surely the process need not now be hurried? I think the best response to an attempt to sabotage civilised life is to restate civilised principles. You will prevail in the long term.

International law? This is America. Authorities rarely care about American laws.

I wouldn't risk anything by counting on that, and the FBI would be fools to think that way as well.

We have no idea what this kid knows, no idea what his brother told him, no idea who this kid has talked to. He might not have spent time overseas being taught how to kill, but that in no way means he has nothing to conceal.

He killed several people. Tried to kill dozens more. He even tried to kill himself. Death and punishment is a fear this kid does not have.

This is an opportunity to demonstrate the enlightened principles of justice that inform the American system.

Of course it is. Hence why, once the FBI released their photos, both he and his brother ran for their lives. Why neither he or his brother blew themselves up when faced with being caught by police, and why this kid hid for hours on a boat.

This kid is simply not going to be trouble when it comes to interrogation. And if he is, he will break very very easily.

On the subject of conspiracy theories, what's everyone's thoughts on the JFK assassination?

The government wasn't lying there? Lee Harvey Oswald was able to pull all that off and they closed in on him and had an ID on him within hours?

How about we keep this thread back on topic and go into the politics section for conspiracy theories.

Yeah, he's awake and responding in writing. Now just have to see if they believe it.

The thing is why would he have started writing down stuff if he wasn't feeling unless he wants to reveal everything.

Guys start a thread, I wouldn't mind telling you how you're all wrong and deluded.

Meanwhile, the GOP is trying to get white hat guy (I don't feel like looking up how to spell his actual name) as an enemy combatant, once again reaffirming their faith in the country's legal system.

I thought I heard someone say on TV a few days ago that that would only apply if this were a time of war.

Sorry if this was posted, but have you all seen this video? Police performing house to house raids in Boston. I'm a bit shocked seeing this, to be honest. Leaving your house at gun point cant be pleasant:

Anyone know who this guy is? he was arrested and stripped down totally :wow: http://edition.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_t1#/video/us/2013/04/19/vo-suspect-perp-walk.cnn
The unfortunate naked guy was misidentified as one of the bombers. He was stripped naked so they could search for bombs.
