Yeah, I could spend an hour typing all the cool shows. Transformers, Thundercats, TMNT, Inspector Gadget, He-Man & the Masters of the Universe, Voltron, Ducktales, Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers, B:TAS, etc. Things really didn't hit the skids in that regard until the late 90's.
It was far better than the toy line it was based around.
And don't forget a talking chicken, erm, foul.
The cap could change form. When the main villain, Skullmaster, donned it in the series finale, it turned into a crown. Granted, he was a sorceror, so who knows.
It was a solid, often overlooked little show that usually aired on weekday mornings or Sunday's, but it was just as creative as a lot of other shows of the time. The only caveat was the finale; some people hated it. It basically justified syndication.
His name was Norman, voiced by Richard Moll (best known for playing Two-Face in B:TAS). He was a Norse warrior who gained mystical immortality and many mythological ballads were seemingly based on his exploits, and he went by many names, including Thor. Yeah, Norman rocked. He had a good rapport with Max.
