BOUGHT/THOUGHT for January 9, 2008

damn, I knew there were a couple, and that Iron Man defeated one, a few issues ago on his book, before CW, but I didn't think he already got replaced.

Hulk #1 - Good book, that's the first time I've heard of the Winter Guard. Are there any books of them?

They've guest starred in various books over the years. Had a few different names...Peoples Protectorate, People's Heroes (I think), etc.

They also have/had more members than were in Hulk #1. Check out Peter David's Incredible Hulk run and Mark Gruenwald's Captain America run.

A chick shoving a pencil up here whowho and dividing fractions does sound kinda hot when you think about it.

If my math teacher's ever did that, I definitely woulda paid more attention!
(only if my math teacher was winnie cooper though...)

ps. talk about off topic! hah...

I had a science teacher who I was convinced had a thing for me. She was only a few years older, too. :(

I'm not kidding, mark my words, few years from now, there'll be sites all over the internet. ALGEBREASTS.COM...CALCULASS.COM... TRIGONOMETITS.COM...CHICKS WITH BIG BUTTS THAT DO MATH.COM...

The first time I read The Winter Guard was in the pages of Incredible Hulk. Of course, they were always known as The Soviet Super-Soldiers back then. This was the issue:

They also had a large-sized one-off special released in the 90's:

What is it about the Hulk and international heroes? I think the first time I ever saw Sabra was in a Hulk comic, too.

Good question. I bet Marvel not wanting to have American heroes get their asses handed to them might play into it.

Titanium Man is in that one! I'm gonna have to check those issues out.

I wonder if he would have been as popular if he was French Canadian?

He would have been a hairy, miniature, more annoying Gambit.
