''I saw it on the Youtube."
'Expression! Worthy! Of Death Scrunchie!"
''With a pillow?" ''Yup." ''Are you planning to smother yourself with it?" ''Uhm...no." ''Then I don't see the point."

Were easily the best lines of any comics this week.

Haven't got to read all of mine. But so far I read..

The Avengers #3- Not a bad issue. I'm glad Thor was included more. Seems like the last two issues just had him drop a line or two, and then he'd jump into the fight. I'd like to see more interaction with him and the rest of the team. I mean, Spider-Man and Spider-Woman have had longer conversations than Thor has. NOT that it's a terrible thing. Just something I'm hoping for in the future. Even though Noh-Varr is just guesting in this series, I wish Bendis would write him in a bit more. Just a few lines maybe, to express his thoughts on what's happening with the timestream. I know I may sound crazy, but I hate just seeing a character standing around and not sharing his thoughts or speaking more than one line. Sorry. Had to vent that.
I'm looking forward to the next issue. I hope what I said above wasn't me just bashing it. I really do like it!

New Avengers #2- Really, what I have to say is pretty much what everyone else has said. I like the series, but I feel like this issue was (as stated in a previous post) a big game of "keep away". I don't know why, but I feel like Bendis isn't giving this title his all. It's like when he gets to these stories, he just kinda says "eh, lets throw this in there." But as it's starting fresh, I can understand it's trying to find it's ground. I love this series as well, let's just hope this next issue has a bit more to it. I'm curious to know (because I"m confused) is Iron Fist still possessed? Or is he prisoner now. I can't call the shots like Dread can.:csad: But, if he is still a threat. I want to see him "unleash" on the team.

That whole "Delphyne suiting up" segment was my favorite part of the issue. I really think only Van Lente would ever come up with something like that and make it an actual, awesome part of a published comic. :funny:

There are also some pictures of the cast for the upcoming TV show in the back, which is nice for people who haven't been following the news about it. I saw all of the pics online long ago, but it's still a nice inclusion for those who haven't (not to mention free advertising to any comic fans who may have been ignorant of the show in the first place).

I'm one of the ones who didn't know about this. I'm gonna google it now.

Yeah, literally everything about it looks and sounds awesome. I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm surprisingly finding myself more into NA than Avengers at this point. #2 was a big improvement over #1. The art is a lot better than JRJR's art too. But one things for sure, he can't juggle the 2 books. He needs to drop one and hand it over to someone else.

I'm actually liking all the Avengers books, and the one that surprises me is Avengers Academy. I think it's the same kind of fun that Young Avengers was when that first came out. I'm not sure how it's selling, but I bet a lot of people are passing on it. They shouldn't.

clonesies Avengers scale:
1. Secret Avengers
2. Avengers Academy
3. Avengers
4. New New Brand New Avengers

What do you think about Avengers Academy?

So many people complain about no new characters. But they never support them when they come along.

I not only read (and enjoy) AVENGERS ACADEMY, I also read (and enjoy) YOUNG ALLIES. :o

I quite like it. The second issue took a little hit because I can't stand Finesse, but it recovered nicely with her blackmailing Quicksilver. I like Mettle and Veil a lot so far.

Mine's:
1.Secret Avengers (by a mile)
2.Avengers Academy (next with a very slight edge over)
3.NNA
4.Avengers

The Bendis Avengers books are yielding the same "quality" that got me to stop reading them before they became ALL NEW. Secret and Academy, however, are quite enjoyable. But, if the big 3 books stay at $4 an issue I won't be sticking around after the opening story arcs (probably wasn't for the Bendis books anyway). A series has to be REALLY REALLY REALLY great or with a creator I like for me to spend $4 on 22 pages every month.

And to echo what was said before, the PoP lolcat joke? Priceless. Even hearing about it before reading it, I died laughing when I finally did. I was never a big Hercules fan before, but goddamn if I wasn't made a convert the last 2 years.

Of the Avenger comics the Jury's still out. I think all three main Avenger titles are a bit decompressed and I hate that. I like various characters from each book a lot. If I HAD to rank them I'd say...

1. New Avengers
2. Secret Avengers
3. Avengers
4. Avengers Academy

I like the team in New Avengers and everything about it. It moves slow and I'm bored with the magical stuff. I kinda want the arc to just move on. The only casting thing I'm not a fan of is Ms. Marvel. I feel like, and would like to see, her and Spider-Woman change teams.

Secret Avengers has Beast and Nova, which I LOVE, and Deodato, who is my favorite marvel artist... but so far the story's doing nothing for me. And I care a lot less for half the team than I do for anyone else on the other teams.

Avengers is okay but I just find myself not caring. I don't like Romita's art, I don't care for half the team and the other half is in New Avengers. The one thing I am absolutely SHOCKED to find that I enjoy... and no comments from the BND peanut gallory... but I kinda like the Spider-Man/Spider-Woman flirtations BUT ONLY A LITTLE!!!

And Avengers Academy has just kinda been okay. I like the art. I like Justice and Quicksilver. I liked Speedball better as Penance. And the students haven't made an impression on me yet.

I figure Academy and Avengers have to the beginning of the next arc to capture me or they're dropped.

1. Avengers Academy
2. Secret Avengers
3. Avengers
4. New Avengers

But, even more expansive would be:

.5. Avengers: Children's Crusade
1. Avengers Academy
2. Secret Avengers
2 1/2. Young Allies
2 3/4. Thunderbolts
3. Avengers
4. New Avengers

Up until this week, Avengers would have been lower. But, issue #3 was a lot better than the first two, and issue #2 of New Avengers was a big letdown.

Thunderbolts has been pretty solid so far. I like that the new premise is something of a halfway point between the two previous ones.

Ooops...I thought something was missing. You guys forgot one a title: Avengers: Prime.

1. Avengers Academy
2. Secret Avengers
3. Avengers: Prime
4. Avengers
5. New Avengers

But, even more expansive would be:

.5. Avengers: Children's Crusade
1. Avengers Academy
2. Secret Avengers
2 1/2. Young Allies
3. Avengers: Prime
3 1/2. Thunderbolts
4. Avengers
5. New Avengers

Oh yeah, Avengers: Prime has been quite good so far. Granted, I was prone to either love it or be ridiculously critical of it, since it's so heavily rooted in Thor's world. Bendis does a surprisingly good job with Thor outside of some dialogue hiccups most of the time, though.

Time Masters: Vanishing Point #1

This tie-in to The Search For Bruce Wayne was a decent first issue. For those who might be a bit unfamiliar with the current Batman storyline from that mini...or recent Booster Gold history...this comic fills in readers well enough. There might still be a bit of confusion; but, a lot of things I read in the first issue were themes I have already read before in both other comics. The best part was I felt this comic made Rip Hunter more likeable, even though he's "by the books" and comes across as a bit rude most times. Like with Search for Bruce Wayne, this comic takes us on a time traveling journey, and the ending of this will have our heroes meeting (or taking on) Claw The Unconquered next issue. By issue's end, I ended up liking this comic more than Search's main comic. :yay:

Dynamo 5: Sins Of The Father #2

If Faerber has to take time away from this comic, and just put out six-issued minis like this....I hope he does it more often. Already two issues in, I'm enjoying this more than all the other issues combined. I'm not sure what it is specifically; but, it's more fun...more simplistic...and, much better drawn. I made sure I told my comic shop to put this title back on my pull list after I read the first issue; and, I can't wait for #3 to come out.

OH, and the backup story still does nothing for me. I'd rather have a few extra pages of Dynamo 5 than something that generic and uninteresting. :yay::yay:

Deadpool #25

So, we get a 3-D cover...that includes free 3-D glasses...yet, that's a bit of a joke, as the glasses cut-out really aren't 3-D. (I do have numerous supplies of 3-D glasses at home, though...because quite a few DVDs I've bought for my kids include them with the movie.) Thankfully, Marvel doesn't bother with 3-D inside the pages of this book. It's a gimmick that isn't needed for comic enjoyment. (Oh, and I think I appreciated Inception even more; because, it wasn't presented in 3-D.)

Decent end to this storyline that featured the return of Weasel. In this issue, we get the return of Blind Al. (Although, it's limited to phone conversations.) Cute story. This is the best of the Deadpool comics....although, I do find Deadpool Corps to be close behind. :yay:

Ultimate Avengers 2 #5

Meh. This comic is alright; but, still might be my least favorite of all the Ultimate comics. Most of these characters are kind of boring, and the Ghost Rider storyline doesn't really shout of originality....although, I will say that this Ghost Rider story (taking out the group of boring Avengers) might be better than most from his last series and mini.

Ultimate New Ultimates #3

Say what you will about Loeb, this Ultimate Avengers title has really delivered some great action and drama. I really, really liked this issue, especially the focus on Valkyrie. Unlike the final issue of Siege, this is the Loki you love to see, creating mischief and havok in all that he does. There are some great 2-page spreads...I love the art in this book...and, even though the ending is expected from this book's narration, it still blew me away. About the only thing that I didn't like...and, that's because it looked kind of gross...was a fully preggers Hela. Ooooooo...still sends chivers down my spine. :yay::yay:

Supergirl #54

Because nobody demanded it! Bizarro Supergirl!!!!

Is there a soul that actually enjoys anything to do with Bizarro??!!?? I gotta give props to Gates, though. He does make the story interesting enough. I think Bizarro Supergirl looks kind of neat. I just have two complaints: 1) unlike what the little boy says at the beginning, Jimmy Olsen is NOT cool, and 2) the "superhero calling it quits" storyline has been done to death! Wow, Supergirl...you lasted hanging up the cape a whole issue and a half!

There is potential with this comic; yet, just as many things that I like about it, I also find to complain about. Oh, and while I'm complaining...does every Super-character have to go the whole secret identity route? I do they all have to have identities that somehow tie in to Superman??? Connor is a Kent...Supergirl is a Lang. Geez, it's all so done before!

I was going to give this comic a :yay: before I started writing my review of it...but, now that I look things over, I have to drop it to a .

Ooops...I thought something was missing. You guys forgot one a title: Avengers: Prime.

1. Avengers Academy
2. Secret Avengers
3. Avengers: Prime
4. Avengers
5. New Avengers

But, even more expansive would be:

1. Avengers Academy
2. Secret Avengers
2 1/2. Young Allies
3. Avengers: Prime
3 1/2. Thunderbolts
4. Avengers
5. New Avengers

I'm not counting Prime because it's a mini. It's been good though.

Well if we're expanding it:

1. Avengers: Children's Crusade
2. New Avengers
3. Secret Avengers
4. Avengers
5. Avengers Academy
6. Thunderbolts

Thunderbolts isn't badly written, but it's not really grasping me yet, and the poor writing on Juggernaut really does kill it for me. The art is great at some moments and horrendous at others and it really takes me out of the story. I still hate the way Songbird and Juggernaut look and man did Valkyrie look horrible this issue! My main draw to the book was Juggernaut, which has been horrible, and Luke Cage since I wasn't planning on buying New Avengers, but now that I am I like him better there than here, so it's no longer an issue. I'm giving the book through until Shadowland to impress me and so far it's about a 99% chance of a drop.

I'm not reading Avengers: Prime or Young Allies (though I'm not sure what Young Allies has to do with the Avengers). I did almost pick up the first two issues of the book due to the low sales and it's impending doom... thus, I can make myself try a new book knowing it's only temporary, but I didn't have enough cash.

Haha, weird, you go trolling for new comics that you expect to fail?

The one thing I am absolutely SHOCKED to find that I enjoy... and no comments from the BND peanut gallory... but I kinda like the Spider-Man/Spider-Woman flirtations BUT ONLY A LITTLE!!!

mmpgh ggrgrg mmmfmfm

Her-oes #4

This was just a fun, cute mini that could easily fit into the world of Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane. This is the big battle issue; but, it also sets up the reader for (hopefully) further adventures somewhere down the road. I think I even found this version of Wasp, She-Hulk, and Namora much more interesting than the 616 version. :yay::yay:

Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #13

Final, 32-page final issue!!!!

I know...at this point, who really gives a flyin' fig. This comic started out pretty great. Then, around issue #7, the jokes started getting lame, and the plot was rotting faster than ZombiePool's head. Even the female lead who everyone once adored was becoming annoying and bothersome. Thankfully, Marvel decided to wrap things up (not sure if it was originally planned as just 13 issues), and we get a 3-part story, with each part being drawn by a different artist.

This issue is nothing that great, though. I chuckled only once or twice, and found myself more happy the book was coming to an end than being happy with the material inside. This book is suppose to bridge the gap between Merc With A Mouth and Deadpool Corps; but, that's only on the last page. At this point, though, Corps is much better than what this title was giving us.

Dark Tower: The Gunslinger - The Journey Begins #3

Those familiar with the Dark Tower series of books by Stephen King will immediately recognize this tale that can be found in the first book. It's about Hax, the cook, who planned to poison the town of Taunton by orders of John Farson. While it was nice to reread this story from a comic book perspective, I think the writer did a big disservice to the story by removing the falcon part of the story the originally preceded it. Those unfamiliar with it can read the section that follows the story, where they describe in detail the importance of that original scene. :yay:

Sky-Doll: Spaceship Collection - Book Two

Biggest rip-off Marvel might have ever done! The reader gets half the usual material from a Soleil title at the same hefty price tag. ($5.99) The only plus side is that Sky-Doll is one of the better Soleil series; and the art is always beautiful to look at. This issue has 3 8-page stories, just like the previous issue. Each gives a unique look at a particular vocation of the Sky-Dolls. (For example, the first story looks at a Cab Driver Sky Doll.) The stories get a :yay:. The art a :woot:. The rip-off, high price a big old .

Amazing Spider-Man #638

Is anyone at all interested in the last two-page Stan Lee "Spidey Sundays" that has been running in this title for the past 5 issues? Not me. I kind of skim through it, and the main story is all I'm interested in.

Quesada does a good job retelling the Peter/MJ wedding that now has never happened. I love the original story and art accompanying the new material. We also get to see what MJ whispered in Mephisto's ear...and, a look at how strained MJ and Peter's relationship currently is. In no way will this make haters of the OMD storyline feel any better. In fact, I think it will make them hate the idea even more. For those of us who don't mind or have gotten over it, though, it's a pretty decent issue. (Though, not nearly as good as the previous storyline, Grim Hunt.) :yay:
