The parallels of Walk and Gus are awesome.

I'm gonna get an ulcer watching this show. Good God.

I literally almost left the room during the knife fight between Walt and Skyler.

Next episode is called "granite state" which I guess is where Walt will go with his fake identity. Same state Vito from The Sopranos ran away to. What is it with New Hampshire and anonymity?

I was pleased when Skyler gashed his hand.

Anybody else thinking that this was all part of Walt and Skyler's backup in case he had to go on the run? To exonerate Skyler and somehow 'protect the family'?

The main thing that would make me question that notion is Walt taking Holly. Skyler's reaction was quite genuine - I think Walt may have improvised that.

"My name is A.S.A.C. Schrader and you can go f*** yourself."

Favorite Hank line right there.

lol I don't think ANY of this was part of the plan.

Yeah it was all definitely an improvisation on Walt's part. I'm not even sure Skyler was reading between the lines with the phone call. All in all a very tragic situation.

Imagine this entire episode through Walt Jr.'s eyes. That's some traumatic ****.

Great episode. The punches just kept coming, there's no other show like this as far as pacing and avoiding the standard practices in television pacing. Anyway, quick thoughts:

-I think Jesse will probably kill Todd in a similar manner to Walt's killing of Emilio with the red phosphorus. It will be some type of chemical attack (how timely!) that Todd won't see coming. Going back to the Crystal Ship foreshadowed the shoot out, Holly's brief abduction, and maybe Jesse's escape plan.

-Walt regaining his composure, maybe fully turning himself over to his demons, in pointing out Jesse to Jack... then his cold confession about watching Jane die when he could have saved her... I hate Jesse as much as anyone, but that was perfectly vicious. The transformation from staring at Hank's corpse to evil mastermind was quick. I thought how truly Walt had lost his humanity...

-Then Walt turns around and covers for Skylar's culpability while doing the double work of saying everything the fans have wanted said to her since season 1. Brilliant, compressed work there. There's so much in every scene.

-it was nice that Walt Jr got to be an active character and within hours of learning the truth, he was the one to call the police on his dad. It was a nice touch.

-Hank's final lines were fitting as a character and also in defining Walt. (There's that double work again!) Hank, brilliant detective and deductive reasoner, admits that Walt is the smartest man he knows, but pinpoints that Walt can't always see things for what they are.

-M60 is likely for Jack's gang, but the ricin??? I dunno, Jesse? Walt takes it himself? We shall see!

Damn. Just finished watching. I can't even...
What a great show, that's all I have to say.

Did people really expect Walt to be redeemed or something after all these seasons? It's like Sopranos, I never expected Tony to suddenly become this hero in the last season. You're watching a character study. We're just too used to happy endings.

Now a days, we rarely get happy endings on shows.

Yet he pulled himself together and did what his mother wasnt strong enough to do. Walt Jr.'s finest hour. There's was a quick cut in that scene where Walt and Skylar are wresting where it looked like Skylar had been stabbed, but no. Then you're tempted to think that Walt Jr. is about to be accidentally stabbed. No. All of the hints and clues that television has trained me to look for, Breaking Bad side steps effortlessly.

It's really bothering me that in some of the actual professional reviews I'm reading, the critics are interpreting Walt's words to Skyler as purely evil. Did they not see how torn up Walt was? Do they not think he didn't already figure the cops were listening?

I mean, maybe next week will prove me wrong, but it seemed pretty clear to me that he was fully aware of what he was doing and was protecting his family.

Can't wait for our west coast peeps to join the conversation

AMC doesn't have an AMCw channel to my knowledge. I moved to San Francisco back in April and was cursing my coworker for having access to this season 3 hours before I would. Thankfully, it airs at 6PM here.

Todd's crush on Lydia, to make better product, ended up saving Jesse.

I can't wait for Jesse to use that red phosphorus trick on Todd.
