Yes, because that's not a strawman at all. It's not like they could easily do both or anything (like with all of their male heroes).

RDJ, Jeremy Renner, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Don Cheadle, Paul Bettany, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Ed Norton, Terrence Howard, Chadwick Boseman, etc. Again, I have nothing against Brie as either an actress or a person. I'd be making the same complaints if any of the "younger" actresses had been cast in her place.

And yes I acknowledge that Evans and Hemsworth were on the younger side when they were cast. BUT, they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

My heart weeps for Emily Blunt

I'd love Blunt as well but I have a feeling that she'd turn it down. Marvel tried to cast her as BW back in the day, which she was forced to reject due to scheduling conflict, but as the years go by it seems like it just wasn't meant to be for whatever reason. And now she's so busy it gets less and less likely she will ever play a Marvel super heroine.

Larson is younger than I would have gone with, but she is a great actress and that's the most important thing. She's not someone who's just there to look pretty, which was my fear.

I think she'll do a great job.

She's definitely attractive enough. And besides, "she's hot" isn't anywhere near the top of my list for attributes essential for an actor playing Carol.

Actors that land these roles are, by and large, good looking. It's one of those (almost) necessary, but not sufficient attributes. I was mainly commenting that it was a very nice picture of her and the silliness of the "she's not Theron or Strahovski beautiful". So what? Who is and it's not necessary. I've been saying on the "Who do you want" thread for quite some time that I wanted someone with the acting chops to pull this off. I thought the best were Theron, Pike, Winslet, Chastain, and Blunt. I hadn't seen enough of Larson to add her.

I'll rather miss that old thread now that it's closed. It was fun, but I'm glad we're past it. Now, I hope Brie makes an appearance in IW1. I think she will.
